Surf Style Photoshoot, Spring 2013! Shredding it up in bikinis and learning kick flips with my best friend Vanessa!
The vault is open and I'll be releasing all of my footage from the past 3 years of riding! This was shot March 3rd, 2013, two months prior to my ACL Reconstruction surgery.
I tried the Challenge Course at UCF for the first time tonight with Tyler and Chuck. It was intense! 4 sections, each a different tightrope walking exercise in which you rely on your teammates (and your lobster claws secured to a safety line that keep you from plunging 30ft to the ground below) to help keep balance and solve each obstacle. My nerves were running as I took my first step onto the tightrope after climbing a wide vertical rope net to the starting platform. I went first and Chuck hopped on right after me, both of us leaning forward against the hand rope and shuffling sideways to make it to the first checkpoint. By then my nerves subsided and adrenaline kicked in. I whipped out my phone for some illegal shots while we waited for Tyler's partner but she wasn't ready. Eventually we had to go on without her and completed the course just the three of us. The second round there is no hand rope, just two sets of parallel tightropes. Each pair of teammates face each other, using each other as counterweight to stay balanced. At one point half way through we were laughing so hard I thought we were both going to fall. Tyler beat us, since he had no partner he just leaned back on his harness and shuffled across but Chuck and I were struggling haha. The third round we did aerial hopscotch between platforms, which only allow for a certain number of feet at one time. This took the most teamwork engaging both mental and physical to make it across. Definitely a lot of leaps of faith here, pun intended. Tyler led the way and helped us both jump the gaps. We were boss status by the last round in which we approached a cross in the ropes and had to jump over one at a time. At the end we repelled down a pole. I wish we had enough time to go on and do the second course! Now that I'm older heights make me a little uncomfortable, especially rock climbing walls, but I'm thinking after doing this challenge course I may go try climbing again. Pushing my comfort zone is going to help me push past the mental hurdle of insecurity about my knee. My ACL is fully heeled and the supporting muscles are getting good and strong, now I just need to build confidence!

SNEAK PEEK February 20th, 2014- My first time back on the wave after ACL reconstruction nearly 10 months ago! I’m so thankful for my friends and my boss coming out to support my return. Although I’m not out of the woods yet, I can’t explain how good it feels to be able to ride again. I’ll be continuing my physical therapy with Orlando Sports Med until I’m 110% strength and confidence! Last time at the doctors office and I’m so excited to say I’m finally cleared to get back on the wave!!! I’ve still got a little ways to go until I’m at full strength so I’m going to continue checking in at physical therapy once a month for testing and to help build confidence with jump and sprint drills. Finally, after almost 10 months, I can get back to doing what I love most.
Physical therapy went great today! I passed the one legged jump test, only about a 10% deficit between legs there although the first jump on the surgical leg was a bit nerve wrecking. I scored a few percentage points better on the beast than the 30% deficit I was expecting so I'm in high spirits! Now just waiting to hear when doc can fit me in, hopefully I get that golden note that says I can get back on the wave!
9 months out of ACL surgery and training is going well! Hoping to get the all clear when I see doc in two weeks!

Still making progress. Had a great workout at LA tonight, pushed single leg extensions to 40lbs and single leg presses to 135, continuing step exercises, functionals and bosu ball squats.
Stoked on my leg workout last night. I came to the gym tired, not expecting to be able to push. After warmup I started extensions there was no knee pain at all!! Usually it takes about one set for the pain to subside. I was able to bump it up to 35lbs single leg 4 sets of 10, moving up to 120lbs single leg press and did aggressive sets of step ups and Bulgarian lunges with 20lbs and bosu ball squats. I was feeling so great I hit extensions on the way out too.
Im just waiting for my new insurance card to come in so I can go back to pt and test! I’m nervous about results, it seems the numbers always undermine my dedication and even though they say not to worry too much about it, the numbers are the only thing between me and Flowboarding.
Fingers crossed and keep pushing through!

Look at that leetle baby muscle grow! I had a great workout today. Started off with yoga, did a little cardio then pushed single leg exercises. 9 months post surgery is approaching and it'll be time to test strength again. Crossing my fingers that all this hard work pays off!
Today marks 8 months without Flowboarding. I'm more than ready to be cleared. There have been so many roadblocks and distractions the past few months but now I can finally go all out in training and get past this last part of recovery! It's a numbers game against the beast. Goal: 20% deficit asap
So stoked for this opportunity I’ve been given to fly out and shoot video for Polaroid at the world championships of wake boarding in Wisconsin! Day two almost complete, another long night of editing ahead. First video was a success! (at Pleasant Prairie Park)
I’m in the brace again tonight and it feels awesome. Pushing hard on weights and I picked up my jog to a run for the first time. Goal: knock Dr.K out of the water when I go for my checkup the 23rd. (at LA Fitness)
