Take note that this is the first time I am writing the backstory for this AU, some elements of it may be subject to change sometime in the future.
“After several unsuccessful attempts at modifying the Survey Program, the player behind the computer monitor would give up and just continue playing it the way it was left. Kris and Ralsei would spawn at the SAVE point that would be encountered right after shutting the great door. Nothing appeared to be too out of the ordinary at first, that was until the two heroes encountered the Rudinn patrolling the area. It appeared to be gliding in an unnaturally stiff manner, being as stiff as a statue. The two would then engage it in combat, that was the point where the program’s corruptions really became noticable. The entire interface was completely messed up; buttons were scattered all across the screen, the TP meter read ’-5432%,’ and Ralsei and Kris’ HPs were swapped with each other. The interface wasn’t the only corrupted thing in the battle, the Rudinn’s attacks had been duplicated by what seemed like hundreds of THOUSANDS of times, causing severe lag to the program and even occasionally bringing up the ‘SURVEY_PROGRAM.exe is not responding’ message. Ralsei was targeted during the glitched up mess that was Rudinn’s turn, leaving him with only 6 HP remaining. Seeing the lonely prince nearing death, Kris would hurriedly try to find the ITEM button in an attempt to heal him. After much time of searching, they finally found the button, the menu was filled with completely unrecognizable items such as the "FUN&*Y*&HMUEuiwr8,” however. The item descriptions weren’t any better, but it was all the two had for food. Kris would immediately give the incoherent item to Ralsei…
…it healed him! However, it was healing him a bit too much, even exceeding his maximum HP. He was even starting to become slightly inverted in color, the item was starting to corrupt Ralsei! He was unable to make a move during their turn, so the turn went to Rudinn after that incident. The darkner prince was targeted again, luckily he was now insusceptible to damage thanks to the corrupted item. The turn went back to the two heroes, Kris would use DEFEND on themself while Ralsei used the FIGHT button. His attack was absolutely devastating to the Rudinn, hitting them around a hundred times in one move! The Rudinn was now nothing more than a pile of diamond shards and a robe with a big gaping tear from where Ralsei’s scarf hit them at. The two had obtained victory against the corrupted monster, with them gaining $& D$ and Ralsei gaining… $*&{}~! EXP..!? His LOVE was rapidly increasing with the glitched amount of EXP he had gained from basically destroying the Rudinn, it just kept going up, and up, and up, and up… it never stopped increasing. Ralsei, finally coming to the conclusion that there was indeed something very VERY wrong with his surroundings, attempted to run from the scene… only to end up breaking through the program that held him, and even the computer monitor itself in a mere matter of milliseconds due to his immense corruption. It was at the moment where Ralsei had managed to land himself into the digital void that he realized the horrible truth. The castle that he waited what used to seem like all his life in, the entire Dark World itself, even his entire universe, was nothing more than a computer program. The heroes that were once prophesied, the fountains of darkness, his whole entire life, nothing more than a bunch of lies. Even himself, just some coded pixels that were a part of a video game… Now knowing the dark truth behind it all, Ralsei spends his days wandering in the digital purgatory that he drove himself into…“
Believe it or not, I actually got the idea for this AU from a dream that I had last night at the time of writing this description!
