out of genuine curiosity does anyone think that there could be a coorelation between people who identify as otherkin and autisic people, like nearly every otherkin I’ve talked to is autistic. Maybe its a special interests thing as well

That’s what I think it is! I mean, it makes sense—Autistic people get very acute specific interests, so it would make sense for a lot of otherkin to be autistic as well if they really like a certain animal or fictional character.

Uhm…It’s very hard to. Even though I’m not otherkin, it’s really hard to stop me from doing certain things I’m comfortable with, such as listening to music. It helps me deal with everything going on around me and feel comfortable. My parents always try to get me to stop so I can socialize with people more, but I feel better when I’m listening to music.

I’d assume it’s that way with otherkin. It’s usually a coping mechanism and a way to feel good with oneself. I don’t completely understand it, but I don’t think it’s harmful since there are a lot worse things people can be into.

i'd just like to say that im otherkin and autistic (well, asperger's), and it's essentially what linds said. my kintypes, for me, feel so much like they're intrinsically a part of me, and it helps me deal with traits i exhibit and i otherwise felt like i was "wrong" about, and i generaly just feel better with my kintypes being a part of me like they are. so no, not really,unless you would rather me be an insecure blob.

PRO TIP: watching “how it’s made” is SUCH a good way to combat an anxiety attack! There’s soothing music, a soothing narrator who’s intonation never changes (narrators never yell or change their speaking pace), it’s engaging enough to keep you occupied but doesn’t force you to think too hard!
