Summary - Nickel and Balloon discuss the ending of the previous day's âTry Not To Laugh Challenge.â

It was morning on the island of Paradise, and Nickel and Balloon were on the beach, working on a sand castle.
The pair had been discussing the events of the previous dayâs challenge as they worked, adding scoops of sand to their pile, which was just beginning to take shape.
âAnd then they tried to team up on you!â Nickel scoffed. âLike I was going to let that happen.â
Kneeling, Balloon patted down another level of sand. âI suppose we were going to lose either way.â
Nickel pushed a small amount of sand forward with his foot. âItâs a good thing youâre so easy to make laugh. Otherwise, Bow and The Floor would have gotten the one-up on us.â
âPsh, I donât laugh that easily.â Balloon mumbled to himself.
âAre you kidding?â Nickel replied, having heard the comment. âAll I have to do is blink to get you fighting a smile!â
Balloon eyed him, unamused. âOh yeah? And I assume youâre âMr. Stoic?ââ
âUh, duh.â Nickel rolled his eyes. âUnlike you, I donât crack up at two sticks and a piece of hay.â
Balloon shifted in Nickelâs direction, a smirk appearing on his face. âWanna bet?â
âWhat do you-â
Before Nickel could finish, Balloon was suddenly in his face. He reached out and gave the coin a light shove back.
Nickel fell backwards onto the sand, landing with an oomph. He snapped to attention as Balloon approached him.
âW-woah, hey-!â Nickel cried out as Balloon moved to sit on his legs, straddling the coin. âWhat, uh⊠what are you doing?â
Nickel attempted to conceal some of his panic, as he wanted Balloon to know that he trusted him, despite his current, startling behaviour.
âOh, not much.â Balloon replied in a casual manner. He hovered his hands near Nickelâs sides, before giving each a light poke.
Nickel flinched in response, his eyes growing wide as he realized what Balloon was planning.
âDonât. You. Dare.â
âWhat?â Balloon grinned, gently pinching Nickelâs sides. âYou said that you donât laugh easily, so this should be no problem for you.â
Nickel struggled against Balloon, biting his lip to hide the smile on his face, as the tingling at his sides seemed to intensify. âN-no!â
âIâm not even doing anything.â Balloon chuckled. âYouâre doing it to yourself by moving around all squirmy-like.â
âThen let go!â Nickel exclaimed, kicking up the sand.
âIf you say soâŠâ
Balloon then released Nickelâs sides, giving him a moment of reprieve, before immediately digging claw-shaped hands back into the metal surface.
âWhaHA- NAHAHA!â Nickel thrashed around on the ground, wildly kicking his legs.
âWhat? You said to let go, so I did.â Balloon commented, continuing the action.
âTHIHIS IHIS WOHOHORSE!â Nickel cackled.
âHey, you never specified what to do after letting go.â
âBAHALLOON! PLEHEASE!â
Watching the coin frantically roll around on the ground, Balloon decided to ease up on him.
âOkay, okay.â Balloon slowed his hands to a stop, remaining on top of Nickel.
As Nickel was regaining his breath, Balloon felt something press up against his back. Turning around, he saw that Nickel was trying rather unsuccessfully to knee him.
âGreat plan, bud.â Balloon turned back. âReally hindering me there.â
âOkay, I think weâve had our fun.â Nickel huffed. âTime to get off.â
âAlright.â
Balloon shifted so that he was still sitting on Nickelâs legs, but now faced away from him.
Nickel blinked.
âUh, Balloon? Not sure if you know, but that doesnât exactly count as getting off. All you did was turn around.â
âMhm.â Balloon seized one of Nickelâs legs in his hand, causing Nickel to grow anxious.
âH-hey! I thought that you- aAH!â
Nickel suddenly yelped, as Balloon experimentally fluttered his fingers along the underside of his knee.
âKeep going, Iâm listening.â Balloon responded, as though they were having a regular conversation.
âS-stop thahat!â Nickel attempted to keep it together, but couldnât prevent the occasional giggle from escaping.
He swung his free leg toward Balloon, but couldnât quite reach. Balloon gave a small snicker. âDonât worry, Nickel. Youâll get me one of these days!â
âShuhut uhup!â Nickel giggled, half from Balloonâs tickling, and half in response to his teasing.
Balloon then stilled his fingers, placing Nickelâs leg back down onto the ground.
This time, instead of trying to knee him, Nickel quickly sat up, attempting to push Balloon off with his body. Balloon, however, wouldn't budge, and Nickel just ended up falling back down onto the sand.
Balloon shifted so that he was facing Nickel once more.
âYou really want me off, huh?â
Nickel looked up at him with a scowl, which Balloon could tell was not entirely genuine.
âYes.â
âAlright, Iâll get off for real this time.â
âŠ
â... After one more quick thing.â
âNo! Balloon! I swear, if you-â
Nickel was cut off as Balloon placed his hands on either side of the coin, gently holding him in place.
âBalloonâŠâ
Balloon then took a large breath, signalling to Nickel what was about to happen.
âWait! Wait, wait, wait! Balloon!â
Leaning down, Balloon blew a raspberry against Nickelâs centre. Nickel shrieked, flailing around on the ground.
âNAHAHA! BAHAHAHA-!â
Giggling at the sight, Balloon finally pulled back, moving off of Nickel.
After a few moments, Nickel, noticing the absence of a weight on his body, immediately shot up into a sitting position.
âSo, whoâs laughing now?â Balloon hummed at the breathless coin.
âDonât talk to me.â Nickel grumbled, kicking sand at Balloon.
Balloon blocked the sand with his arms, giggling.
âCome on, letâs go finish the sand castle.â
Nickel rolled his eyes, watching as Balloon kneeled next to the mound of sand. As he repeatedly scooped handfuls onto the pile, Balloonâs preoccupied state gave Nickel an idea.
A smirk creeped its way across Nickelâs face as he rose.
Whatâs that saying about throwing rocks in a glass house? Nickel thought to himself, as he silently approached Balloon from behind.
Oh well, doesnât matter. Balloon was about to experience the meaning first-hand, if Nickel had anything to say about it.
Summary - Paintbrush and Silver Spoon argue over who gets to serve as writer for the dayâs challenge.
Word Count - 1250
-
âHand it over!â
âNever! You and your tacky mane will have to scrawl out your drivel elsewhere!â Silver Spoon cried, maintaining his grip on the typewriter currently being subjected to an unfriendly game of tug-of-war between himself and Paintbrush.
Both were contestants on the third season of Inanimate Insanity, and were currently on the same team, despite how the unfolding scene may have appeared to anyone on the outside.
The current challenge was to create a cartoon, and after Silver Spoon had laid claim to Paintbrushâs second choice of role, Test Tube, serving as the teamâs director, had appointed the pair as co-writers. Needless to say, neither was taking the decision particularly well.
âTacky?!â Paintbrush took a moment to collect themself before responding, as to not let their anger get the better of them. âYou want to see tacky, Silver? Iâll show you tacky.â
Paintbrush raised the typewriter slightly higher up into the air, before releasing their hold on it entirely.
Silver Spoon, still pulling on the object with all of his might, was sent flying backwards. He landed on his back, his arms flying up into the air, as the typewriter was flung onto the nearby ground.
A satisfied smirk on their face, Paintbrush began to saunter in the direction of the discarded machine. As they passed near Silver Spoon, however, the utensil raised himself up onto his elbows.
âOh, no you donât!â
In one swift motion, Silver Spoon stuck out his arm, effectively tripping Paintbrush, who fell to their knees.
Silver quickly rose, moving in the direction of the typewriter. Paintbrush was also quick to respond, gripping Silverâs arm and using his momentum to hoist themself back up.
The two sprang forward, grabbing hold of the typewriter at the same time.
Paintbrush then let out a small gasp, their gaze fixated on something just behind Silver Spoon.
âSilver! The reporters! Theyâre here!â
Silver Spoon scoffed. âLike Iâm going to fall for something like that.â
âŠ
A moment passed. Silver grew visibly more antsy by the second. His hands began to shake, the anxiety overwhelming him, before he finally gave in.
Silver spun around, rapidly scanning the island environment for any signs of life.
âWhere?! Where are they?!â
Instead of a reply, Silver felt the typewriter be ripped from his grasp, followed by the sound of footsteps quickly retreating in the opposite direction.
Oh, that littleâŠ
Once they had put enough distance between themself and their co-writer, Paintbrush leisurely strolled over to the wooden desk standing in the middle of the grass. They placed the typewriter down on the flat surface, gingerly starting to press down on its keys.
Face slightly heated, Silver stomped back over. He watched Paintbrush from a distance, pondering what his next move should be.
Observing each key being pressed, Silver was suddenly struck with an idea. A smirk spread across his face as he slowly crept up behind Paintbrush.
Paintbrush sighed. âI know youâre there, Silver. Try anything, and Iâll report you for sabotaging our team.â
âMe? Sabotage?â Silver replied from much closer behind than Paintbrush expected. âPerish the thought!â
Hovering his hands just below Paintbrushâs outstretched arms, Silver Spoon began to rhythmically wiggle his fingers. Slowly, he raised his hands up, holding them steady once he had made contact with Paintbrush.
Paintbrush tensed the second they felt Silverâs fingers fluttering under their arms.
Surely he wasnât⊠oh, he totally was.
Paintbrush held steady, continuing to type out the script. They were careful not to react, as there was no way they were about to give Silver the satisfaction of a response.
âMy, your hands have grown shaky.â Silver Spoon purred from behind. âYou best back away from the typewriter, my dear. Let me take over.â
âHow about you get lost.â Paintbrush hissed through gritted teeth.
âNow, now. There is no need for such rhetoric.â Silver Spoon sped up his fingers, grinning. âYou should really lighten up.â
Paintbrush stomped one foot. It was growing increasingly difficult to stifle the sounds that Silver was threatening to draw from them. They had to hold out, however, or else they may not get another chance to work on the script.
When Silver suddenly withdrew his hands, Paintbrush let out a small sigh of relief. Hopefully he had given up.
That thought was short-lived, however, as not a moment later, Paintbrush felt fingers spidering their way down the length of their sides.
Paintbrush bit their lip to stop the giggles that now bubbled up inside from surfacing. Their hands simply hovered over the keys, as it became more difficult to maintain their focus on typing.
âSomething the matter? You seemed quite eager to write out the script on your lonesome.â
Silver Spoonâs infernal commentary permeated Paintbrushâs mind. If his actions didnât end up breaking them, then his words definitely would.
âI- hnrk, Iâm gonna- mmph!â
âUse your words, my dear. I canât understand you like that.â
Paintbrush opened their mouth to further protest, but just as they did, Silver quickly skittered across their abdomen, returning to spider down their sides a moment later.
The action was enough to break the dam. Paintbrush jolted forward, giggles beginning to spill from their mouth.
âAHah-! Sihilver! Gehet ohoff!â
âAnd, just like that, the stoic have fallen.â
Paintbrush gripped Silverâs wrists in an attempt to remove his hands, but Silver wouldnât budge.
âI sahaid geheHEt ohoff!â
âNot until you step away and let the professionals do their work.â
âNoho!â
âThen you best get comfy~â
A few minutes passed by as the two remained locked in their unorthodox battle for control. Silver, seeing that Paintbrush was clearly unwilling to give in, scanned over their form, his eyes coming to settle on their blond nest of bristles.
Silver Spoon pulled his hands back and out from Paintbrushâs grasp. Paintbrush leaned on the desk in front of them for support, regaining their breath.
â... Give up yet?â They questioned, remaining defiant in face of their winded state.
Instead of receiving a response, Paintbrush was suddenly seized in a headlock, with Silver pressing them up against his chest.
âNot quite.â
Silverâs free hand travelled up to Paintbrushâs bristles, where it began gently scratching at the material.
The response was instantaneous. Paintbrush burst into laughter, thrashing against Silverâs hold.
âNAHAHA! NAHAT THEHEHRE!â
âNot here?â Silver Spoon echoed. âBut my dear, this is the best response Iâve received thus far.â
âPLEHEASE! IHIâLL- AHAHA!â
âYouâllâŠ?â
âLEHET YOU WRIHITE!â
âAre you sure?â Silver inquired, continuing to carefully scratch at the bristles. âI wouldnât want to intrude on your solo career.â
âYEHES! JUST-HAHA! STAHAP!â
âAs you wish.â Silver Spoon stilled his fingers, releasing Paintbrush from his grasp.
Paintbrush toppled forward, about to fall to the floor, before Silver intercepted.
âAh, careful now.â He steadied Paintbrush, who was still slightly dazed, before guiding them to stand off to the side.
Silver then stepped up to the typewriter, cracking his knuckles as he eyed the script.
âThank you for your cooperation.â
Residual giggles emanated from Paintbrush as they worked to fully clear their head. âYohou⊠youâre cruhuel.â
âCruel? No, no. I simply do whatâs necessary to get what I want.â
âTch, right.â Paintbrush crossed their arms in a huff.
âAlthough⊠if you do have any suggestions for the script, my email is open.â
Paintbrush grumbled. âWhatever.â
As they stalked off to collect their ideas to send to Silver, Paintbrush figured that one thing was for certain.
As long as Silver Spoon was around, this was going to be a long season.
Summary - Goo helps to comfort Bot after theyâre eliminated from season 3.
Word Count - 680
-
Bot was on Indefinite Island, having recently been eliminated from Inanimate Insanity Invitational. The islandâs environment was dark and sandy, providing a rather dreary atmosphere. The company present on the island, however, provided a sense of liveliness and connection that helped its residents endure the conditions.
Bot sat on the sand, watching the waves lap up against the island coast. They scooped up a handful of sand, allowing it to run through their fingers, until only a dusting remained in their palm. They repeated this action as they remained seated there, seemingly lost in thought.
Goo spotted Bot from the mainland, slowly making his way in their direction, and ultimately ending up at their side.
âHey! What are you up to?â Goo chirped, watching his friend turn and look at him.
âOh, hey. Not much.â A hint of dejection could be detected in Botâs tone, as they turned back to the water, picking up another handful of sand.
Goo eyed them with a mix of confusion and concern. He shifted slightly closer.
âIs⊠everything alright? You seem a bit down.â
Bot kicked at the sand. âI donât know. I mean, Iâm glad to be back with you and Test Tube. Everyoneâs been so understanding.â They gave a weak smile. âItâs just⊠Iâm still kinda bummed I got out, yâknow?â
Goo nodded. âI get what you mean. Itâs not the best feeling in the world.â He admitted. âBut, there are plenty of people here that can relate! If youâre going to be sad, best to do it in a place where people understand, and can help work through those feelings together.â
Bot smiled. âThanks, Goo. Seems like youâre holding up your end of the Cheer Factory just fine.â They chuckled.
âIâm not done quite yet!â
Bot watched as Goo crawled his way forward, advancing up onto Botâs legs. He slowed to a stop once he was situated directly on top of their knees.
A confused Bot watched as Goo began to physically vibrate. The action triggered the nerve sensors in their knees, causing suppressed giggles to bubble up in their chest.
âHehey! Goohoo! That tihickles!â Bot giggled out. They attempted to push at him, but found that each time they made contact, their hands simply slipped off of his body.
âI know,â Goo grinned, âthatâs the point!â
Goo then paused the action, advancing further up Botâs legs. He stopped just in front of their abdomen, eyeing the robotâs two metal wings.
âYour design is so cute!â Goo cooed, as residual titters emanated from Bot. âI could just⊠eat you up!â
Goo then leaned over and began to nibble at the underside of one of Botâs wings. Bot squeaked, falling onto their back.
âNOHOT THE WIHIHINGS!â They laughed, rapidly waving their arms in the air.
âLooks like someoneâs ready for liftoff!â Goo teased, continuing the action.
Bot squirmed around on the ground, unable to get away. âNAHAHA! GOOHOO!â
Goo pulled back, turning his attention to Botâs other wing.
âDonât think I forgot about you!â He began nibbling at its underside.
âNOHOHO!â Bot protested through their laughter. âCUHUT IT OHOUT!â
After a few minutes, Goo gave the wing one final nibble, before pulling back.
Bot lay there, catching their breath, as they felt Gooâs body weight resting on top of them.
âAhare you finished yet?â Bot questioned, their breathing beginning to return to normal.
âMm, not quite!â
Before Bot could respond, Goo planted a raspberry directly on their stomach. Bot shrieked, their limbs flailing about.
âOkay, now Iâm done!â Goo chimed, watching as Bot settled back down. âAre you feeling any better?â He inquired, his tone having softened.
Bot gave a small nod. âYehes. Thanks, Goo.â
Goo beamed. âAlways here to help!â
Goo then backed off of Bot, who sat themself up once more. Goo joined at their side, keeping them company, as the pair watched the waves move in and out. They may have lost at the competition, but they had certainly found something just as valuable.
