Have nothing to say about my first article, my awesome mentor helped me a lot with this one, but next cool features will be out soon, like.. tomorrow~
Crazy August. Starting with the excitement of doing something new, but I realized it is just an excuse to escape my daily skripsi routine life. Journalistically speaking, these people in the video are the exchange participants from an international non-profit organization called AIESEC, going abroad for minimum 6 weeks to do a 'social project' but the main reason is still and of course to runaway from the static life and explore new exotic places.
Dealing with people from overseas is like dealing with kids, requiring patience and lots of positive energy, or else you'll get sick of people with 'why' questions. And most of the time, you don't really know the answer because you've never really thought about it. Frequently asked question is, of course, the price of getting around the country, but this is Indo where there's no fixed price for everything (except at the mall and proper resto). So unsurprisingly, this is part of the culture that they found hard to comprehend, while we are so used to the 'kira-kira' mind set.
And as much as the chaos between my thesis and these AIESEC activities slash short escape, I get to know myself more by getting to know these people :) thank you lovely people. As Rumi once said, respond to every call that excites your spirit. I took the call. And finally, the battle between 'the obligation as a final semester student' versus 'having a surreal journey with these people' has come to an end. And as always, time wins.

So I watched Cloud Atlas two days ago, and read some parts of the book. Senang karena It's very related with my thesis (tentang activism and media), as David Mitchell (yes the author) put in:
"The conflict between corporations and activists is that of narcolepsy versus remembrance. The corporations have money, power, and influence. Our sole weapon is public outrage. Outrage blocked the Yuccan Dam, ousted Nixon, and in part, terminated the monstrosities in Vietnam. But outrage is unwieldy to manufacture and handle. First, you need scrutiny; second, widespread awareness; only when this reaches a critical mass does public outrage explode into being. Any stage may be sabotaged. The worldâs Alberto Grimaldis can fight scrutiny by burying truth in committees, dullness, and misinformation, or by intimidating the scrutinizers. They can extinguish awareness by dumbing down education, owning TV stations, paying âguest feesâ to leader writers, or just buying the media up. The mediaâand not just The Washington Postâis where democracies conduct their civil wars."
Blahah panjang. But I agree. So anyway, I took all this as a non-regretful escape of the week as my impulsiveness had led me to the nearest bioskop where I sacrificed my time and my eyes for 172 minutes long. Discontinuing myself from writing my thesis that is due on April 27. Got back home exhausted, but joyful.
So, of all scenes, I love the one above. It's a beautiful shot scene. And I love the idea on how smashing porcelain antiquities could simply reflect our inhibited freedom. Uh, powerful.

One day, not having any plan on sunday morning had led me to this Cikapundung riverbank. The area is so near from where I live yet so invisible.
Densely populated, soiled, and just messy. So, ya ya, I was very negative before my on-purpose visits -to study how to picture an object. But then after the journey, I found my other viewpoint -yep, I got my lesson learned. In short, It is more than visible. This is strangely exotic. The soiled river, the crowded houses, the mossy stairs, and the dewy green grass along the riverbank. All shapes and colors are forcefully gathered in a livable area despite its improper existence. Don't want to exaggerate, but let's just say that this is an organized chaos, and that's why it's beautiful.
