Hey guys, sorry I haven't been on much in the past few months and probably will continue to not be around. But here's a life update and the reason I have been away. July 2, 2016: the happiest day of my life.

so i have a booth at a wedding expo for next week! i'm really excited, i got it for free as a perk from another job; but i've never done one before. have you? would you possibly have any tips on setting up the booth? like things to include or something? luckily i have a booth right by the door so ALL THE BRIDES have to walk right past me. i'll be playing my instrument and have business cards out, but i don't want just an empty table...what else should i put out?

As a musician and a bride to be, I'd say pictures, signs, and something fun they can take. I have like pens and random branded items from expos and such but I also enjoyed just picking up some candy. And if you can do a give-away sort of thing. People always stop to sign up for those and you walk away with a list of potential clients.

That awkward moment when you're the only wind player who followed the "arrive 15-20 minutes early" note on the rehearsal schedule (but was actually like 40min early thanks to no traffic) and end up tuning alone and playing with just the strings because they're ahead of schedule.

I hate that the hardest part of wedding planning has been finding cocktail hour musicians. How hard can it be when you both are professional musicians? Apparently very hard when you get attached to the idea of a particular group and they fail to follow up when you ask for a contract. So back to square one. I would love to use one of the 40+ musicians invited, but we want them to enjoy themselves, not work.
