so,   i thought reducing my prescence in the fandom would help me but the constant knocks from people who i thought were my friends, who’s backs i’ve had even when i haven’t personally agreed because that’s what adults can fucking do, have blocked and ghosted me without a word  --  yeah, i’m done.

i’m leaving until i can see a time where i can come back without feeling this crushing pain, and if that never happens then so be it.     this fandom really needs to take a good look at when you start prioritizing fictional characters and ships over real life human people, because i know the incident with me wasn’t the first, honestly disgusting one to happen here, and it won’t be the last.

there’s more to it than this, but I think people treat fictional characters like they matter more than real people in fandom because the fictional characters ARE more real to them than other people in fandom, especially if their echo chambers treat other people like monsters from the Shadow Realm

Fiction and art are important because they offer us space to think about things we are “not supposed” to think about. They allow us to form honest, well thought out opinions of things we are not always free to publicly mention being curious or unsure about.

That is why I think “art,” DEFINED BROADLY TO INCLUDE POP CULTURE AND FANWORK ALIKE, is important to humans as a species and as a group with culture.

Probably an unpopular opinion here on tumblr dot com, but there’s nothing wrong with writing unhealthy relationships as long as you don’t try to portray them ~relationship goals~. You’re allowed to explore darker aspects of life in fiction. Not every relationship, romantic or otherwise, needs to be wholesome and pure.
