This is towards no particular news or anything but seeing people maybe running for some sort of political office or becoming famous or etc etc having sexual assault/other similar stories coming out to me isn’t like omg they want to drag that person down just as they’re doing this

Personal opinion, but to me maybe they didn’t report or talk about it then because they hoped it would be fine. That the perpetrator did this terrible thing but at least maybe he won’t do it anymore. That even though bad things happened to them it’s ok, because he probably won’t do it again. Maybe they went through the reporting process and made it almost to the end, just without the public facing side. Maybe it’s because reporting something like this seriously is a fifty page form, tons of meetings, interviews, second-hand verification interviews, which takes time away from building your own life and dreams but when you don’t fight it it drains away from your energy too. So maybe they do it and report it at such a heightened time because oh my god it’s not just me. It’s lots of people that could be put in danger because of this man. That he could do damage to people other than me. So now they must know. Even if people doubt me and scrutinize and it tears into my life and ruins it all over again by making me the label and source of the report.
