I'm kind of done with people shutting down every conversation about AO3 not having any moderation and allowing fanfics in which underage characters, ranging from children to teens, are raped in graphic details while all of it is described as if you're reading a smut scene that's meant to turn you on in a book. Every time I try to bring it up, I get hit with "why complain about freaky being found on the website that was created by freaky people?" or "you're a pro-censorship nazi". I'm sorry, but I think there's a difference between freaky/horny/kink content and materials that promote children being abused in such a way. "But the children are fictional characters" - and??? Isn't that exactly the argument people use when it comes to using AI to generate images of naked children. "They don't exist so it's okay to give pedophiles what they want" - this is what you sound like - because I assure you that your fanfic in which this child/teen character is getting raped is being read by a pedophile who jerks off to this. But yeah, keep being delusional and keep telling yourself that you're not causing any harm and that I'm the bigoted monster for being concerned about this... Also, let's not mention the fact that if you take out the rape or underage tags, a majority of the fics in fandoms disappear. It's almost like it's an actual issue...

This is towards no particular news or anything but seeing people maybe running for some sort of political office or becoming famous or etc etc having sexual assault/other similar stories coming out to me isn’t like omg they want to drag that person down just as they’re doing this

Personal opinion, but to me maybe they didn’t report or talk about it then because they hoped it would be fine. That the perpetrator did this terrible thing but at least maybe he won’t do it anymore. That even though bad things happened to them it’s ok, because he probably won’t do it again. Maybe they went through the reporting process and made it almost to the end, just without the public facing side. Maybe it’s because reporting something like this seriously is a fifty page form, tons of meetings, interviews, second-hand verification interviews, which takes time away from building your own life and dreams but when you don’t fight it it drains away from your energy too. So maybe they do it and report it at such a heightened time because oh my god it’s not just me. It’s lots of people that could be put in danger because of this man. That he could do damage to people other than me. So now they must know. Even if people doubt me and scrutinize and it tears into my life and ruins it all over again by making me the label and source of the report.

Dreams were fucked up last night

Dreamt I got SAd and someone cut open my stomach and a bunch of stillborn rats came out, and when I told someone about it they gave me 38 dollars for my troubles, then I got on a bus where a lady came on and said that someone had stolen 38 dollars from a kid since he originally had 100, then the bus got driven off a pier and we had to evacuate before a new bus came.

I lost the 38 dollars before someone handed them to me, then the lady took it after I explained that someone literally gutted me and I was still bleeding/hadn’t been taken to a hospital and she didn’t care.

Then I was in a supermarket where they had discontinued Reese’s that I really liked but I couldn’t buy them

The gutting was narrated and shot like a nature documentary. There was this rat in an enclosure who was a stand in for me who was standing on its hind legs. The narrator said this.

Look, let's say I go to a party and I'm a recovery alcoholic and when I'm there, someone spikes my drink, that's not my fault.

And I can blame myself all I want to, but the bottom line is just because I went to this party doesn't make them spiking my drink any less wrong.

Because even if I consented to the party, I didn't consent to being served alcohol.

And at any time if I decide I want to leave this party, that's my right, even if everyone else was having fun and wants me to stay.

I mean, just because you go to the bank is it your fault if you're robbed? No.

Just because you go out to eat, is it your fault you got food poisoning? No. Because that's not what you signed up for.

Now, think of this but about sexual assault and harassment.

Anything you wear or say or do or anywhere you go, is not giving anyone the right or access to you, and you can change your mind at any point.

Anything someone does to you is not your fault. It's not because you were drinking, or what you were wearing, or where you went. It's on them.
