“You’ll love me one day, you know that right.”, Amy looked up from her drawing to give me a questioning and disgusted look. “You know that will never happen. I already told you I love someone else, besides your crazy, that would hurt my reputation.”, I chuckled looking down. “I might be crazy but you’ll still love me.”, Amy looked up again this time with an annoyed sigh. “No. I love another.”, I look up again but this time I take notice of who she was drawing. “Laurie.”, I look across the field and see him laughing with Jo. She doesn’t even look up this time. “Always.”, I stand up to start walking away. I took a few steps before stopping and turning around, she doesn’t look up. “One day I’m going to ask you to marry me.”, she waves me off coldly. “If you say no, I will disappear from your life.”, her pen pauses briefly before continuing on its course. She thinks I didn’t notice. I turn around and start walking again. I couldn’t help the wide and crazy smile that appeared on my face at the thought of my new game. I was going to win.
Present
The chains they had me in were digging at my wrist. I hadn’t tried to escape yet they insisted to chain my arms out like a eagle. I would never try to escape anyways, I hadn’t finished my game. The cell was old and moldy of course, my legs ached from the amount of time I had been standing. “Couldn’t of chained me up when I was sitting down.”, I say humorously to the guard outside my cell. He had fear in his eyes. Weak. “What you afraid if you say anything to me I’ll kill your family?”, I laughed at my own joke, it took me a while to calm down. I sighed contently, “What’s the point of the bench and bed if I’m not allowed to use them?”. Once again no answer, I sighed looking around. It shouldn’t take long for the news to reach Amy, they had just caught me even though they knew it was me since the first time I killed someone. I guess you could say I was just too slippery. I would go and see Amy at night and every time she would have her sisters go get the police leaving me with about 4 minutes before they arrived. I would use that time to chat with her, sitting in one of the comfy chairs in her living room. She would never answer me, or well not at first. She eventually started to ask me questions, the typical ones like, “why would you do it?”, “what was the point?”, blah, blah, blah. I wouldn’t answer, just continue talking. She wouldn’t answer my questions at first either, asking how her day was, what changed since I last saw her. Eventually though, she started to answer me and have conversation with me. She would still be cold and tell her sisters to get the police. Sometimes Laurie was with her as well, but he would follow Jo to get the police, sad really. But she still had conversations with me, and that's when I did it. That's when I started to make her fall in love. She never showed it but I knew, I could tell. She even threw things at me sometimes, it made me happy, because someone who didn’t care about you wouldn’t feel the need to throw things at you. I was pulled out of my flashback by the sound of footsteps on the stone floor. I smirked my eyes closed when the footsteps stopped in front of my cell. I briefly heard the footsteps of the guard walking away. “They finally caught you, good.”, I chuckled and repositioned myself so I wasn’t slouching. “Yes it seems so, but why would you come visit me? The rational thing to do would be celebrating with your sisters.”. She cleared her throat and straightened her posture when my eyes locked with hers. “I wanted to make sure they actually had you.”, fear, her eyes held fear, she knew what would happen to me. Death. In the worst possible way. I smiled brightly and she scoffed. “You deserve everything you get, after all this time torturing me with your stupid conversations after sneaking into my house. All the people you killed. I hope that they burn you and make it hurt.”, harsh coming from her, tears started to brim her eyes and I couldn’t tell if they were for me or the people I killed. “All those innocent people didn’t deserve what you gave them, they didn’t deserve death and your death will avenge them. I hope you understand-”, I cut her off with one simple question, still smiling widely. “Marry me Amy.”, her eyes widened and her mouth hung open. I could see the memory of what I had said to her many years ago flash in her eyes. Most people who fall in love with a psychopath think they can heal them. Think they can make them normal again. I wonder if she thought that was possible, I was willing to give it a shot for her. She stared at me with hate on the surface, but I saw the sadness lying underneath that she tried to hide. People lose themselves for love, the question was, would Amy lose herself for me. The psychotic killer. She would never understand that they deserved it. Yes, I am crazy. But for Amy I never killed the innocent. Her mouth finally closed and she took a small step back. I glanced at her feet then looked back up at her with an emotionless face. Disbelief grew on her face as what I said finally set in. “No.”, “I would never marry you.”. She took another step back. “I will never marry a crazy person.”, I watched her for a second before lowering my head. It hurt, that feeling was new to me. I was sure I had won, that I had made her love me. My face stayed emotionless though, not showing what I was thinking. I looked up again, “A promise is a promise.”. She looked at me confused then glanced at my chains. She was wondering how I was going to keep my promise. Then the emotion left her face as she came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to be able to. I watched her as she walked away and the timid guard came back. A smile grew on my face as I looked at the guard, “She put something in my pocket you know. She has great aim.”. He looked at my slightly open pocket then back at me suspiciously, after glancing at the chains making sure I couldn’t move he made his way to the door starting to unlock it. A smirk made its way onto my face, idiot.

Amy was drinking tea with her sisters when Laurie came sprinting through the door. He was out of breath and looked at Jo then Amy, then Meg, and lastly Beth. “She's gone.”, he gasped out. Jo stood up quickly as did Meg. Amy sat there shocked as an ache grew in her heart. Its not possible. There was no way you were able to escape. “Who.” Jo said quickly although they all knew who. Laurie looked at her and answered “Y/n.”. No. Amy couldn’t believe it. She didn’t want to believe it. There is no way you actually left. She didn’t understand the overwhelming sadness that crashed down on her. As she cried in her sisters arms. All the nights you came to talk flashed through her mind. They thought she was crying because she was scared. In truth, she was crying because you were gone.
