All that is visible must grow beyond itself, and extend into the realm of the invisible.
TRON (1982), dir. Steven Lisberger
Tron Uprising: I hate my brain by ~nururuateka
Does anybody know the artist? I'm in love with this!
this picture is, by far, one of my most favourite things in this world. (also: i'm feeling this nostalgic.)
Friendly reminder that Sam Flynn grew up thinking he’d lost his father only to find him for a few hours and then lose him again ✿◕ ‿ ◕✿
Oh look, someone finally acknowledges we exist only to remind us of this. Could have mentioned Quorra. Or Tron. Or Flynn. Or Alan. Or Yori.
Shall I continue?
How does Disney’s Friendly Reminders have room for anything besides Tron: Legacy?
Friendly reminder that Quorra is the sole survivor of a genocide and her happy ending consists of effectively moving to another planet while watching her savior and mentor and god, and the only friend she had for a thousand years, die.
Friendly reminder that Tron was brainwashed and spent a thousand years as a mute, faceless killing machine destroying the world he and his friend had built and terrorizing the people he was written to protect.
Friendly reminder that Flynn screwed his pet programs over so badly they staged a revolt and trapped him inside the computer, where he spent a thousand years in hiding and the food he prepared tasted like motor oil even all that time.
Friendly reminder that Alan lost his best friend, creative counterpart, and business partner, spent the next twenty years searching for him and trying to look after his troubled orphaned son and corrupted company, and to this day still sleeps with the pager he gave him - all while his wife had moved to the other side of the continent.
Friendly reminder that Lora got put on a bus and her existence got only the barest acknowledgement in the most questionably canonical side materials of the sequel to a movie that never even would have happened without her life’s work and Let’s Do This Thing attitude.
Friendly reminder that Yori fucking disappeared into thin air between one movie and the next, and if she still exists at all and didn’t get killed by her brainwashed lover, she instead had to watch said brainwashed lover become Clu’s lapdog and the antithesis of everything he once stood for.
And yes, we can still go on, but I’ll let someone else do that because this is enough sad and angry for me for one day.
#I hate all of you #and I hate myself too #but I hate the Powers That Be most of all
Looks about right.
Then people say Tron is shallow and childish. I can't. (actually I don't know if I love you or hate you guys :( oh gosh these feels.)
