Ode To Truly Living
Here I am-
Forced to live a life
Inspired by materialistic things,
Wanting to live as a free spirit would,
As a nomad could.
Alter ego hardly appearing
Wanting to show the glitter on its skin
And how it shines so bright.
If she could walk through the town naked as all embrace her beauty with abundant love,
But itâs only a far away dream.
Far away from judgement and monetary disparity.
I yearn for the day that I can Waltâs outside whilst the sun caresses my face and be accepted for exactly who I am.
no pressure to be important or rich,
No pressure to succeed in a rigged life.
Just finding the beauty within each otherâs flaws and welcoming them into our too imperfect lives.

Growing up in a naturist family
I grew up being a naturist/nudist; I donât know which is the right term for it and to be quite honest with you, I donât care⊠Iâll let others worry about the finer distinctions between the two. The bottom line is that growing in our house, we were usually naked.
To tell you the truth, I never questioned it, it was just normal in our family; even now, Iâve never given it a thought. Many naturists/nudists have told me that Iâm lucky because Iâve never struggled about it, and to some extent, that is true; I am fortunate in that regard. Yet, that doesnât mean I didnât struggle. It must have been especially difficult for my parents, teaching us the âclothes rulesâ when we were little.
Soon enough however, we all learned that when we left home we had to be dressed, and we had to get dressed when others came to our house. The hard part was learning that we really couldnât tell our friends how we lived at home. Along with that of course, we had to learn not to tell them they were weird for wearing clothes all the time!
I didnât do well with that last partâŠ
I should add that we lived in rural Iowa far from any neighbors, so people werenât just knocking at our door.
Teenage years are tough for anybody, and growing up the way I did, at least I never worried about body image, so I suppose I was lucky not to worry about all of those changes that cause so much havoc with teenage girls in particular. Where I ran into trouble was when I had a really good friend, you know, the ones you tell all of your secrets, and then they tell the world as soon as you have a âfightâ over something stupid. My secret tended to be electric in school, and I didnât have many friends. Rather, I learned to deal with teasing and ridicule early on and, being a bit of a tomboy anyway, became very interested in the martial arts. In high school the teasing stopped and I was more or less fearedâŠ
Looking back on it, I wouldnât trade my childhood with anybody, for it was as close to idyllic as I can imagine, even though nothing in this life is quite perfect. Whatever adversity being a nudist might have caused made me a stronger and more confident person and being a nudist (or is it naturist) has been, on balance one of the greatest blessings of my life and I will always be grateful to my parents for bringing us up that way.
Very interesting insight. Â Itâs not often that we âlate bloomingâ nudists (or is it naturists?) finds out this kind of personal of information from life long nudists. Thank your so much for sharing with us.
(Please keep all comments and credits when re-blogging, itâs the correct and honorable thing to do. Thank you.)
I really enjoyed your post. I am just at the point were I am very comfortable with myself and don't care who see's the real me ( me when I'm naked).
I love being nude, because that's when I'm totally free. Thanks for sharing.
What Makes a Nudist?
When I first got into blogging about naturism/nudism on Tumblr, I saw a friend get asked by an anon how she could call herself a nudist when âallâ she does is go around naked at home all the time. The anon wasnât deiberately being rude; they had the dictionary definition of nudist (âa person who goes naked wherever possibleâ) and also knew that lots of people go about naked at home without calling themselves nudists. So they wondered what made my friend a ânudistâ rather than just a âperson who walks round naked at home.â
It got me thinking, what is that difference between a ânaked personâ and a nudist/naturist?
Plenty of people have a casual attitude to nudity at home or elsewhere without feeling the need to tag themselves as nudists. I remember an episode of Friends where Rachel and Phoebe discuss how if you live alone you can walk around naked, and nobody suggests that that makes them nudists. Casual nudity in private is no big deal for a lot of people in the Western world; we live in climate-controlled, artificially-heated boxes with blinds and curtains; clothing in private is not necessary in the 21st century and although not everyone takes it to the extreme of living without clothes, most people I know donât find anything strange about not getting dressed straight away after a shower in high summer, for example.
Also, nudism as a way of life has very few rules (if any). Being a nudist isnât the same as, for example being a vegan or following a religion. Thereâs no real list of things you have to do to be able to call yourself a nudist. I know a lot of nudists/naturists and they all have different approaches to nudity in their lives. There is no one interpretation of nudism which is right above all others.
There is an idea prevailing in some circles that to be a nudist requires you to visit nudist clubs, resorts or in some way socialise nude with other nudists. I guess this goes back to the old days of ânudist coloniesâ and black-and-white films of naked beauties playing volleyball.
But in the modern world, I donât hold to this view. Just because you have never been to a nudist club, doesnât mean you canât call yourself a nudist. Some of the most dedicated, passionate nudists I know have been people who have never been naked anywhere outside their own homes.
To me (and this is my own interpretation only), nudism is in your attitude. For me, a nudist is someone who:
Enjoys being naked.
Feels some benefit to being naked (such as preferring it for comfort, or feeling that it is healthy and positive)
Doesnât think people should feel a sense of shame about being naked, or about seeing other people naked.
Recognises that nudity and sex are not the same thing and that it is possible for men and women to be naked together in purely platonic, casual, social situations.
To me, you donât have to go to nude beaches or nudist resorts to be able to call yourself a nudist (these are just fun things you can do if you are a nudist). And you donât even have to spend every hour you can do naked. Being a nudist isnât about what you do naked. Itâs about how you think and feel about being naked. Thatâs what separates a nudist from a ânaked personâ.

True that
All nudist here. My blog is all about nudism and nothing else!
I couldnât agree more with OP. True nudists have to work to take back the image so that people new to nudism donât get the wrong impression!
There will be those who just canât break out of the hyper-sexualization paradigm. Culture changes very slowly. Let us continue to educate as to a better way and it will eventually change.
