hello! long time no see! 👋🏻👋🏻

I don’t draw as often these days, but while organising my folders I found this royai piece fully finished and somehow never posted — so here it is! 🤗

it's s part of an AU I’ve been slowly working on and off for around a decade, called “here I dreamt I was an architect”

set in the conqueror of shamballa universe — the “real world” version of FMA 2003, in the mid-1920s — where, after the movie, edward and alphonse end up meeting roy and riza’s real-world counterparts… and realising how different their lives turned out here

basically, it’s very much a “they find each other in every universe” kind of story — except in this one, they’re allowed to be a little less messed up, as a treat 🥳

(i'll put more details of the story under the "keep reading", if anyone is interested, bc this description is getting too long)

here, they’re married and have a son, hugo. riza (well, elisabeth) works as a private tutor, roy is involved in espionage/intelligence work (no way I could leave madame christmas, general grumman and their shenanigans out lol), and both are strongly tied to anti-war efforts across europe — especially because berthold, riza’s dad and their main antagonist, is a german scientist working for the thule society.

anyway, it mostly started as a way for me to give them their manga personalities back, keep them far away from the military (well… mostly), and let them have a genuinely happy existence (that’s still thrilling in its own ways) but it just kept growing and growing.

the AU is fully plotted in my head, but I’m no writer, so it’ll probably never really exist beyond scattered drawings and notes around my files… I guess this piece is one of the few windows into it. (but if anyone’s interested, I’m more than willing to discuss it and share more! I love talking about it!)

If you have never been inside of a Waffle House before: trust me when I say that @allysketches brought every detail to life with absolute perfection!! I swear I can feel the stickiness of the floor when I look at this art (affectionate). The details of the restaurant are as perfect as the details of the Team Mustang dynamic (can you tell who are the seasoned pros and which one of them is eating here for the first time?), and I have already flailed about how much I love this for 249832940 years 💖

I’m back with some more royai heheh 🌝 I have a whole lot of wips but couldn’t pick what to finish bc I don’t have much free time atm, so I gave them all ao3 fanfiction-like lyric titles and sent it to a group chat for my friends to pick blindly which one they liked more… this was it lol enjoy!! the title was ‘clandestine meetings (and longing stares)’ loosely based on when madame christmas sugested to roy something along the lines of “have some fun with elizabeth” bc this has been living rent free in my head for a decade - like, this would have had to have been a thing in some capacity, right?! she wouldn’t just say that for no reason 🤔😏

(it also just ocurred to me this would have been perfect for royai week had I finished it like two months earlier lol 🤦🏻‍♀️ well 🤷🏻‍♀️)
