another second passes as he takes a deep breath and closes his eyes to extinguish the flame behind them, thinks he really may have overstepped a boundary after seeing how agitated she got, that he said something he shouldn’t have, and his features soften when he looks at her again as though in an unspoken apology. “you’re right; you’re not alone. all i’m trying to say is that you should stop trying to push everyone away from you, like you’re better off that way – you’re not, and i know you know that.”
giving in tastes like defeat again, feels empty like resignation always does, but he’s so tired, so exhausted from fighting for a place that was never his to begin with, that he just isn’t sure he can win anymore. “fine,” he breathes quietly, barely loud enough for her to hear. “fine. if you want me gone that badly, i’ll leave. i’ll do the rational thing and pretend, like you said.” i should be good at that by now, he thinks somewhat bitterly, but swallows the words. “just know that i’ll always be there, okay? i’ll always care.” that’s the last stand he’ll put up, all that’s left of his resistance: a stubborn guarantee; the promise that what kindness they shared once won’t fade into a part of their pasts to be forgotten, that if she ever does find herself alone, there will always be a place to turn to.
in the end, he’s selfish with that too – even now, he refuses to truly become a stranger; all he can do is agree to pretend.
she doesn’t get the enigma that’s junseo.
its frustrating to see him like this--to track one way and then diverge and slam into another, anger contorting his face for a moment before sliding away into resignation and an apology unneeded. it makes her scoff, the pit in her stomach growing as she treads once more, with a petite foot down onto his pride, like a audience to the derailing of a train that she couldn’t stop.
“ stop feeling for me.” she orders. her heart twinges, just for a split moment of a second as he flares into an unfamiliar tirade. she’s used to hearing things like this from junseo--his emotional capability allowing him the irrationality and impulsiveness she often did not allow for herself. “why are you giving in?” its almost a reflex to ask the question, words falling from her lips before she could even stop herself, like split milk scattered on the ground, unable to retrace its steps.
she shakes her head, a sigh almost falling from between her lips as her brows knit together, and she erases the previous sentence from personal memory. it sounded too much like a demand or a cry for help--and she--needed, no help. stubbornness etched itself into her features as her lips set into a thin line, and she wonders, if only for a faint moment, if she had momentarily pushed a little too far.
he bled like an open wound in front of her, running his mouth and lines of anger clutched in his hands.
“i don’t want you to leave. its not...” her face turns aside, a momentary lapse of her relenting into his angered tirade, an acknowledgement of something, even if it faded from recognition before anyone could even notice it there. “you shouldn’t be caring for someone who doesn’t want to care.” her final words are soft but halting, lingering gently in the light in a moment of genuine care and concern--just the barest little trickle, sublime in her tone and awkward in her stony exterior.
“there are always better things for someone like you to care about, junseo.” her voice hardens a little, only moments later. “and its not to waste your time on someone who doesn’t want to be cared for.” selfish to the very end, she chides herself as her feet drag beneath her, the weight almost too heavy for her to carry out its duty of moving physically away. “that’s why i tell you to go away.”
𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐚 𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞. good pressure, jinsol processes, as he sits down with sia, one of his sunbaes from within the company. despite having a career of his own with CHARM, he cannot fathom here that he is going to have some features on her album. the creativity process is not something he is partaking in at this opportunity, but even so, it is a blessing and wonderful thing to already be showcased in some way or another. there remain a few demons that dance on his left shoulder that cast a shadow on his own skills in rap, but he’s in good hands. he will take any critique that comes his way, and wants to deliver his lines the way that sia envisions it.
“i am putty in your hands, sia-ssi.” jinsol blinks fondly, hands clasped as he stays level headed to keep his cool. “what is it that you will require me to do?” it’s not so different from his usual recording process, but it’s always a peculiar experience without the bond of all his group members. the masses. CHARM does have so many members, and it’s in a good way, even when divided into segments for his rap unit. rap unit. that’s right. he has to deliver, and he will represent both his group, himself, and sia appropriately. at least the intent is there. now for execution.
@fmdartemisia
sia blinks, almost like an owl as she watches jinsol with an eye of a hawk and a slight air of nervous boredom that knits her brows together as she watches jinsol take the seat in front of her, hands clasped and pretty face in a nervous array as she watches him with sharpened eyes and calloused hands. she’s fucked, sia thinks, almost feeling the growing pit of horror slowly building in the pits of her stomach as she watches jinsol with something almost akin to a borderline nervous cat energy, claws out, eyes wary and cautious, and completely on her toes.
its her first album, and as usual, the perfectionist in her deeply and sorely refuses to produce anything less than what is perfect and what is amazing.
and from experience in her university, that usually meant clashing with others, especially on the direction she wanted to go.
but still. she recalls her manager baring her teeth at her and hissing be nice! through the windows, cupping her hands as she narrows her eyes down at the impasse currently situated between the both of them, the small studio that she used in the company packed mostly with musical equipment and the lack of other, remaining human bodies.
“jesus, relax. you’re making me nervous too.” the first thing she does is curl her legs up on her seat, trying to find the easiest and most comfortable way of sitting without seeming a bit too informal. “ just relax first and find the most comfortable way that you wanna sit.” she ordered, swivelling the chair around as she turned around to face the window that her manager was standing pressed up against, eyeing them with a watchful eye. what do i say now? she mouthed at the manager, a little caught in the loop and a little frantic for help. i don’t know how to talk to people. she gestured a little wildly, finally grabbing onto a stress ball in the corner, before whipping back to face jinsol, hard candy cracking beneath her teeth and what she hoped seemed like a genial, amiable smile upon her lips.
“ tell me first though, have you heard the track? like just the music itself. give me your opinion on the feel about it.” a few clicks on the keyboard as she she sets up the recording booth, toes clad in the most atrociously coloured toe socks as she blinked owlishly in his direction. “i want to hear your feel and thoughts about the flow, or how you should rap. you should at the very least, have a bit of the idea, or else you wouldn’t be able to grasp the flow of the rap correctly.” she pointed out, the possibility of her sounding a tad too harsh completely going over her head as she narrowed in her focus on music and music only.
“hey! juju’s a cute nickname,” she says rather defensively because it’s what sia happens to call hyeju. she’s not the type to give out nicknames to her friends, but she doesn’t mind being on the receiving end. with a shrug, she lets out a raspberry at the thought of why people named their children the way they did. “at least we weren’t stuck with something terrible is all i’m saying.” there are definitely worse out there, and she thinks hyeju is nice despite the connection it gives her to her family.
it was always entertaining to see how divided the opinions on lipstick’s title tracks were even among the members. the only consensus seems to be that genie good, but she’s not sure if that’s because they genuinely like the song—like she did—or if it was because it was their hit song which eventually opened doors for making money. she wouldn’t blame any of her members if it was the latter though. hyeju’s made enough money to probably live out the rest of her life now through lipstick activities. “how much hardcore? i don’t want to wear anymore leather, okay. run devil run was a debut song was the end of the world for me.” she shudders at the thought of those leather outfits and how it was impossible to be comfortable in them. she would rather have the booty shorts or whatever.
“it’s...a preferential nickname. you’ll learn not to like it when you have a gossipy older brother who uses your childhood photos for his personal use of garnering fans and followers on his instagram.” sia crossed her arms and sniffed. “i have an image in particular to uphold.” she huffs, “and that image is one of being silently intimidating and behind the scenes.” her bones crack just a little when she shifts, a groan passing right through her lips as she whined a little, cracking her eyes a little more open to glance more at hyeju.
she glances at hyeju for a moment, trying her best to determine if the other was serious in listening to her words and opinions for a moment.
“well.” she pouts for a moment, delving a little deeper into the sofa. “i honestly would choose any particular concept for it. more like--anything that works and is comfortable would be the thing and concept i’d go for, even if its a hardcore song or music. because you know? anything can be hardcore, as long as you put your heart, mind and soul to it. you could just stand on the stage with a plain pair of shorts and a shirt and a microphone in hand, and still if you pulled off the performance rightly, it would be considered as really cool and potentially hardcore too. so i never understand why exactly that they have to confine us in a particular box of concepts really.”
ko jueun (artemisia) aesthetics + self para -- promises and hair
she first chops off her long, dark locks when she’s 12 and her brother’s just fired from his company, a scissors in hand, and crudely, choppy wavy hair, nastily cut and eventually neatened as she became a trainee becoming one of the core trademarks that she’s recognised by, apart from the varying colours. when she first makes a comeback after idle song with her dark hair after years of endless damaging of her roots and scalp, her second brother takes a look at her and cries.
word count: 645 words
when she finally makes a comeback and steps into the threshold of the old ko family home, she’s greeted with a clattering of bowls and plates onto the floor in the most dramatic fashion, and the wail of the one and only ko jongtae loudly assaulting her ears.
oh my fucking god--please! the fucking noise! he only wails louder, lunging at her to pull her too small frame into his arms, her hands clasped over her ears and eyes squeezed tight to stop the blaze of colours overflowing from her brother’s voice. his fingers card through her hair--and she freezes, both of them watching as he sniffles, pulling his fingers lightly through the long--no longer strands of dark hair that she’s grown out, mixed with hair extensions from her everyday idol life.
“you grew out your hair!” the disbelief is as reminiscent of that of her own personal fans, and sia remembers the bewildered gazes and gasps from their lips when she first steps out once more, hair darkly coloured, and at a length not of its usual, infuriatingly short length.
“if you continue wailing about it, i might just chop it back to a short length again.” she finds it far too hilarious when jongtae immediately clamps up, his own hair on his head dyed a matching blonde to her own hair the last time that she had visited---a symbol of support for your endless campaign in destroying the roots of your perfect scalp and hair! he had crowed proudly as they bleached his hair together with gloves and endless combing through the long tendrils of his growing hair. oh fuck that stings. he’d whined when she slapped on the first handful of bleach onto his head.
neither of them question each other, just as how she fails to question him herself at that last time they bleached his hair together, after he had shown up to her room’s door when she had returned home for chuseok, gloves in the left and a bottle of hair dye bleach in his right.
“why now?” he’s reduced into a blabbering mess, a mix of snot and tears that she wipes away with a tissue and a desperate urge to laugh when he clutches onto her hands like a man seeking a life buoy amidst the sea.
“idle song.” its a simple answer, but one more than self explanatory. they both know all too well the promise that she had made sure that she carried out making on her end ever since she was twelve and a stubborn little shit, who had taken a crude scissors to her hair and crossed her arms about it. “finally made it, even if its not what i wanted to put out anyway.”
the joy that etches itself into her brother’s face is contagious and palpable, no matter how brief.
“so that means i can dye my hair black once again? after years and years of damaging it with bleach over and over again just to match your pace?” she shrugs, a light grin tossed up the corners of her lips. she’s never been able to dictate what exactly it is that jongtae should or shouldn’t do, there’s always a too appropriate reason on his lips when she asks, and the lack of her ability to even rebutt him is absolutely pathetic.
“we’ve done blonde, black, atrocious pink, light pink, ash? you’ve got to be one of the fair few that’s really gone to the greatest lengths to spoil your hair. ever thought of going bald for once for a different taste?” she throws a pillow right at jongtae’s face as he picks on her out of cheerful amusement.
“nah.” her eyes turn towards the horizon, just barely outside of the window as she sinks into the counch and grins. “i was thinking, perhaps purple is something more of my taste.”
aesthetic + headcanon: instruments and things that sia uses for production
the little things over the years that sia has used over time, as well as learned over time. challenges from her high school teachers in seoul arts high school for constant musical stimulation, and her love for learning and putting herself entirely in music and its production setting for the base and cementing her supposed “thought” of becoming a music producer in the near future.
word count: 1,446 words
piano:
the first thing that she uses, the earliest instrument that she uses for herself is a keyboard. not even a piano—they can’t afford a proper one, and the old one that her brother used to have at home long ran out of tune from the countless number of times she and her brothers used and tinkered on its old keys, until it finally exhausted every last bit of its life, and died on them. she gets a keyboard for a birthday present from her second brother, ko jongtae, who’s all but exhilarated by the fact that there was another one in the family that had an amazing musical talent.
she named the keyboard keyboard 1 (she doesn’t exactly have a good naming sense of her things..unfortunately), and it was a name that was given out of affection. she was about 3 when she started learning piano from her older brother, and 6 when she received her first, second handed keyboard that she named keyboard 1. it spoiled within a few months due to the constant usage she submitted it to, and she was incredibly upset at its demise. probably one of the first times she ever cried to her older brothers, because she loved the sound of the music, and the magic of composition in pulling out tunes out of practically nowhere.
she’s nine when she first composes her first song, and it was out of anger, because it had been her birthday, and her three brothers—out of genuine need to prank her, had hidden a ferocious cat in a present box, and gave it to her to rip open. she’d open the box, and gotten scratched right in the face, giving rise to her existent fear of animals that remains till this very day. it was ultimately an angry, childish song, but it marked her first ventures, forays into the art of production and composition, because despite of its childish nature and a few strange tunes here and there, it was well received by family, and her older brother’s friends.
midi:
she first gets her midi equipment when she makes her first, part time job at a young age of 13/14 years old. it takes a little more than a year to be able to earn just enough for a proper set, not to mention with some financial help with her older siblings. the next year she spends her time poring over the instructions and trying to understand how the machine worked exactly.
she proves herself truly gifted in music when she quickly identifies how to use it in tandem , and quickly succeeds in making her first song with midi studio, and both her brothers are pretty surprised at what she’s done. it’s a small studio, just barely able to fit upon her desk, and sia tends to use the money that she earned from her second brother with selfies back then to fund herself to expand this particular home studio. she gets herself a studio recording mike of a pretty good quality when she’s fifteen. it’s the first thing she buys for herself, and her music evolves from just simply being composition tracks to tracks that actually do start having her voice, even if she doesn’t like it.
serum synthesizer:
she gets a serum synthesizer on top of it all when she’s 18, and the first thing she does is produce one of the laziest songs she thinks she’s produced in her lifetime. idle song is born on a hot, lazy day, with her dozing in her seat in her home studio, hair a chopped mess, and a guitar on her lap, fingers lazily plucking against the strings in an uncoordinated but repetitive fashion. she sends it to bc just out of fun because she wanted to see their reaction, knowing clearly to herself that she doesn’t really like the song—and it comes and bites her right in the ass when bc finally tells her she’s ready for a solo thing, and they dump idle song right on her for her debut song.
she loves the serum synthesizer a lot, experimentation with her various songs that she likes to do is able due to this particular instrument in her home studio, just like the various audio interfaces that she has.
the serum synthesizer is what she uses for the various funky and different sounds that she likes to put in her songs at times, depending on her mood and the type of genre that she actually wants to go for.
guitar:
she picks up guitar a few years after she picks up piano, at around the age of 10, because she had expressed that she wanted to learn the guitar if she could—piano having gotten a little boring and limited for her musical space. her third brother buys her first guitar with the extra pay that he gets from being an idol. she doesn’t know that its out of his own pocket and savings, but with her third brother on the path of being an idol and doing music himself, he understands more than she thinks and knows about her own personal desires.
he gets her an electro-acoustic guitar so that she could eventually plug it into her studio if she has one and would like to produce music herself
he gets her a carol robelli f550 thinline for her 10th birthday without telling her, and it’s the model of the guitar that she uses till this very day for her music productions, a slight edge of her being sentimental since she refuses to throw the guitar away for a better one, as suggested to her by others.
learning the guitar itself is incredibly easy for her, owing to her perfect pitch and background knowledge of music. its just memory work from then on, and the persistence to play the guitar despite the ache in her fingers and the tremble in them after hours and hours of practice.
electric guitar & electric bass:
she picks up the electric guitar when she’s 15, and studying in seoul arts high school in the music department. she’s deeply committed to her art in music, and its during this particular period that her deeply anal characteristics for music start to show to others. her inability to tolerate even the slightest mistake or wrong pitching makes her difficult to get along with her peers, and her gifted edge in music and its production sets her a little apart from everyone else. luckily enough she has good teachers who are more than patient with her, and rub down that arrogant little edge that she sometimes shows.
learning the electric guitar was not a challenge, but a part of the challenge her teachers gave her in order to keep her constantly stimulated. for someone like her who learned music so quickly and so efficiently, they challenged her to learn all of the various guitar types and be at least—able to play them fluently and slightly proficiently.
so sia picked up the electric guitar and gets exposed to rock, punk and metal music not for the first time, but more intimately. her production music gets slowly influenced by the instruments that she’s learning as well, and eventually some punk, metal or rock elements are added into the songs that she produces. she even learns a bit of the vocal style of rock, and finds out that while she growls magnificently, the screaming/yelling singing style that is typical of rock does not suit her voice unfortunately.
she picks up both and learns them completely by the end of the year, and continues playing them throughout her various years. it also helps her a little with her social interactions with others—sia joins briefly a few gigs and bands in the school that needed someone with electric guitar / electric bass skills.
drums & bass pedals & drum machine:
she learns drums only recently, her time after her studies in high school filled with trainee life and then subsequently lipstick life. it proves a little more difficult for sia to learn the drums, the bass pedals and the drum machine, more likely due to the fact that she’s been so reliant on her own personal perfect pitch to help her coordinate with her learning. unfortunately, percussions, do not have a pitch—and for a while it’s a general dissonance for sia to learn drums, because she is unable to tell which beat to which particular colour in her chromesthesia (which was the original way she used to learn her piano, guitar skills)
in fact she’s learned to prefer and like drums much better than the drum machine. the drum machine is the only thing that she prefers for production, and the old school drums for when she wants to just simply play a drum set.
“blame my mother or something.” it comes out rather bluntly as does everything when it comes to talking of her family. hell, she doesn’t even know if her mother’s the one that named her. she could very much be wrong. now that she thinks about it, it might be likely that it was her grandfather instead. “also, i don’t hate the song.” there’s other songs in lipstick’s discography that she would state she dislikes, but she’s not sure about hate. “i just don’t think it’s catchy enough. impactful, you know? i want something more like bang or even first love. something that’s more of a banger.”
sitting up so that she isn’t sprawled across sia, she raises a brow towards the younger female. “which part of it do you hate so much?”
“i mean, i don’t get why i’m called jueun either.” sia all but glances right down at hyeju past her nose, with raised brows. “as it is, i only see it as a highly embarrassing name that resulted in the nickname juju.” she picked her nails as she sucked a breath through her teeth. “hate is dislike, just stronger. so either one way or another you don’t like it, so is there really much of a difference?” she never gets the reason why people tended to choose different ways of saying certain words, just to make things sound much nice. if there was one word to describe everything aptly, shouldn’t they do so just to save some kind of energy?she sucks on her teeth, brows furrowing contemplatively as she reaches down, wriggling a little more to settle herself comfortably into the sofa, a groan passing through her lips as they both sink a little deeper into the sofa.
“oh god, don’t remind me of first love. until now, i still feel as though they cheated me of it, letting me only do one line of the piano thing for it.” she lets a mocking grin spread over her lips, a huff of disbelieving laughter passing through parted tiers with a repressed sigh. “i don’t hate it per say. it just doesn’t sit right with me. more like, it sounds stupid music wise.” she scrunched her nose. “not that old school is stupid, but more like--its 2021, i wish they stop doing these kind of things to lipstick really.” she stretched a little, yawning. “i want more hardcore stuff. hardcore stuff is great.”
Ko Jueun (Artemisia) Relationship Aesthetics + Self Para: Doyoung
he’s the most consistent of all of her friends, excluding her best friend, miyeon, like a neverending wave that comes crashing back onto the shore. two years of friendship, and sia never thinks much about relying on doyoung, even if she unconsciously does so, because no matter how many times she flees from him and denials everything in front of his face, he still remains.
word count: 763 words
a/n: pls don’t read rip, i don’t even think i make sense OTL
the first thing that pops into her mind when she thinks of lee doyoung--is the crash of relentless waves against the ocean shore, a steady rock, and the warmest glow of a sunset in the distance, bathing her skin with tender warmth and a soft hand of comfort.
the second, is that he’s almost akin to a worm in her stomach, always present, neverending, and just...so so annoying at times. especially in the moments when he forces her to confront her feelings, and gets ridiculously adamant about her never having to shoulder her burden all alone.
she’s a self pariah--every notch of her feelings buried deep in the soil, seven feet beneath every faceless expression and lack of emotion she gives, a lone wolf, willing to let her burdens fester until they’re too heavy to bear, before exploding in a splendid array of a raging volcano.
it catharsis, she insists to him when he looks at her in skeptic disbelief.
i like it.
why can’t you just stop caring about me?
i need to stop caring too much about others, and you’re not making it easy.
she doesn’t want him around. she tells herself more than half the time, in every waking moment that they spend together, his hands wrenching away wine bottles from her hands (a recent development really), and their faces to the starry night skies, low voices of mildly bickering opinions bantering back and forth as she crosses her legs, tilts her head back, and spares him a side glance, each and every time, the waning light of the moonlight against her face, the twitch of a rare smile turning up the sides of her lips as she shakes her head.
tell me.
it’s an age old argument between them, with him insistent, and with her pulling three steps back for every single step that he wants to push forward. hands stretched out, as if to catch her--like in a trust fall.
but she doesn’t like trusting people.
trusting people meant putting your heart in their hands, and hers--
had been killed for one too many times over, stabbed repeatedly , like a knife to the chest.
i love too much. she doesn’t tell him that. i give everything and feel everything, and when those hurt, they rip me apart.
her words are forever silent, just as they should always be, so that their barbs would neither harm others, not have the chance to turn back against herself.
he still manages to break through those walls that she insists on having, at times a little too close for comfort, and at times, just enough for her to part her lips and speak of her grievances. more often than not, however, she finds herself prodded a little too much, seen through for far too often--and the overwhelming fear washes over her once more like an age old calling that only she could hear--and she takes off on her own two feet, just running, endlessly, until he’s miles behind before she finally stops her own two feet.
it sends a pang through her chest when she finally stops figuratively running, and he remains where he is, looking at her with a smile. The sight of him trudging along, slowly but languidly, hands behind his head and face lightly tilted into the air, a wry but airy smile spreading across his lips like nothing in the word bothered him--or could possibly bother him pricks her like a needle against her heart, like a spark of guilt of leaving him behind with thoughtless care, and returning as though nothing in the world has happened between them as friends.
“how do you..do that?” its a murmur of a question yet unspoken, a dream sequence that she imagines happening in her head, that gives her the far too painful answer for her to bear.
that freedom.
that carefreeness that you could choose to exhibit through the tiniest smile upon your face.
how? did you do it?
every ounce of her body demands that she stays back. he’s dangerous, her mind logically cooes, disapproving and in absolute rancour that she would willingly put herself in a similar position after everything that had happened. you know what happens when you come too close. when you always return. her mind hisses at her, like an annoying fly that only served to speak the truth when it was something she didn’t want to hear. letting your barriers down and making a friend out of him is a mistake.
but still, she admits to herself that somehow--she can’t just stay away.

her words draw them away again, she’s like a glass pane crashing into the ground, sparkling, reflecting, cutting into everything and he just lets it go. used to it by now. pointing his chin to the sky where she mentions and coughing up a laugh at the lack there of. “yeah…” he peers at the wide open sky, not a twinkle in sight, “there’s probably a star somewhere. i think i saw one.” that’s an offering because he doesn’t want her to be embarrassed. looking back at her as she looks up, frenetic searching the sky as he searches her profile. “sia,” a caution flag in his tone, “if you’re having a hard time, you don’t have to have it alone.” he offers it like a rebirth, restart, begin the night again like it hadn’t started as it had.
she doesn’t expect him to agree instantly.
but doyoung has always been the most consistent of everyone that she’s met, silent like a rock, and as steady as the calmest sea, crashing against with a rhythmic pulse against the darkened beach that was her own conscience.
“sorry.” she’s barely able to tolerate the look from his eyes, lips pursed together in a thin line as she watches quietly, the words the materialize in a flare of warm gold from behind his lips. his words cascade over her like a torrent of an unstoppable flood, wrapping her in unfamiliar warmth as she fidgets in her shoes, facial muscles twitching ever so slightly at the unexpected shame that surges in the pit of her belly, roiling like a little snake that finally settles when she grits her teeth and turns her face stubbornly from his sharpened eyes.
her jaw clicks together, clenched with the mildest chagrin as he intrudes--just as he always does, into her life once more, drawing a sharp look of utter disbelief from her as she spared a glance in doyoung’s direction, a sigh permeating from her lips as she scoffed a little in deepening disbelief.
“you...really don’t learn when it comes to not meddling in my affairs, don’t you?” there’s a subtle twinge of the softest appreciation in her tone, almost akin to genuine admiration for his neverending tenacity. “sometimes, i look at you and wonder--which is more durable, your endless tenacity or the world’s most..i don’t know, durable rock.” she raises a brow at him, slight exasperation edging her voice as her gaze softens upon him, shifting with the slightest discomfort at the shift of tenderness she felt in her chest at his cautionary words.
“it’s honestly...stupid.” she feels as though she’s twelve and in front of one of her brothers, bowing her head and confessing to being the mastermind behind the most recent broken vase, ashamed and filled to the brim with nervous that shouldn’t be present. “my brothers would love to meet you one day. you’ll get along with them, they’re forever on my heels, nagging about things i should care about, even my love life.” its a last, botched attempt to misdirect him away from the topic they were slowly bridging at hand once more, the nervous dart of her eyes a telltale sign as she anchored her teeth into her bottom lip, shoulders hunched upwards in consternation as she blinked up at doyoung as innocently as she could, with just a tad more of an expression. “the only thing that’s different from them is, you don’t want to embarrass me sometimes, which my brothers don’t. like..just now. with the stars in the skies.” the sentence alone is explanatory enough about what she was referring about, the slight jerk of her head tenderly sheepish as she huffed out a laugh. “anyway, it’s honestly nothing much of a specialty. just...” her feet scuffed against one another, a habit that had slowly formed often whenever she wrestled with her self on confessing what was bothering her to others. doyoung would surely see through her words, with the last two years of prior experience--she scrunched her nose slightly as she pursed her lips together one last time.
“it’s just some dumb, stupid shit that i never thought i would come across, as me, you know? that’s about it really.” a hand reaches out, avoidant and yet attempting as bravely as she could, to be reassuring, little pats on his shoulders with a tiny paw of a hand as she gave him a bout of nervous laughter, tongue darting over her drying lips as she expelled a shaky sigh. “and i fucking hate it because it makes me feel strange all over, and i haven’t...felt this way since my brother died. it’s like i’ve lost my bottle cap over my emotions, and everything’s strewn about in a great pile of a utter mess, and its because of that...that...ugh i can’t speak it out loud, but that thing, you know? the word that starts with an l?” she waves with her hands agitatedly. “everyone sings about it. l-o-v-e, and i don’t even think mine equates to that.” she shudders a little at the thought, defensive barriers shooting up haphazardly as she teetered on the line of confession. “it’s just a crush that went utterly wrong.” she finally admits to the problem at hand, turning her face away as her ears heated unbearably. “i’ve settled it just fine already, so don’t..worry too much about it.”
at this point, hyeju’s convinced that bc is being lazy. ticket’s not a bad song, but she thinks they could have spent some more time finding a more interesting song for this comeback. on top of it all, recycling two previously releasing singles and shoving it into this poor excuse of a new mini album screams incompetent. it’s like the company doesn’t know what to do with the newfound wave of interest that came along with lipstick’s appearance on queendom. is it that hard to make a song like genie again? or maybe even something performance-heavy like first love or bang. she just wants a song that leaves an impact.
she’s busy with her own individual schedules, but that doesn’t mean she misses out on group practices. they’re being given a short fifteen minute break before going back to choreography rehearsal, and she takes this time to practically lean into sia with a loud groan. “please tell me i’m not the only one that isn’t completely in love with the new song?”
@fmdartemisia
ten years or so and sia thinks that by now, she’s a little bit--at the very least, used to hearing some of her teammates whine. usually, she’s not very appreciative of many of her teammates, but with fortunately, hyeju is one of the very few in lipstick that she’s considered herself to be much closer to. and hence why she guesses she can tolerate hyeju’s whining ever so often, just a little, here and there.
“i don’t like it either.” she picks at her nails as she tosses up her legs on the couch, double chin folding slightly as she turned her eyes towards hyeju. “but its what the company gave us, and as contracted, shitty workers being used for our talents, we’ve gotta deal with what they give to us, even if we don’t like it at all, ju.” she makes a muffled noise that sounded much like a low, whining groan, mashing her face into the pillow below her as she slowly tried to bunch herself up properly to sit up and face her teammate.
“say, why can’t your name be a little longer? its so difficult trying to make a nickname out of hye and ju.” she mumbled, filly sitting up, dark hair in a disarray as she blinked at hyeju. “but yes, ticket is a horrible song. which parts in particular do you hate? ”
