“I don’t think a dream I don’t have can come true.” His response blunt, dull but what came typically to Clay. The reply at hand being nothing but the truth. He had no dream, at least no realistic dream, so he knew for a fact no dream of his would ever come true. “Is there a dream you don’t have that you wish to somehow possibly come true?”
jessica spun round immediately at the sound of his voice. “clay? you’re here too? did you follow justin? this can’t be a coincidence anymore.” jess rambled, shaking her head. she quickly remembered that clay has actually spoken to her before. “and i don’t wish for anything any more, that’s how you get disappointed.”

of course it was better than home. as much as justin disliked new york, he had to admit that it was far better than their hometown. while memories & images would ( probably, most likely, definitely ) continue to haunt them for their rest of their miserable lives, at least they wouldn’t have to face those that knew their secrets. another bright side - justin was no longer in the same town as seth, which meant he no longer had to worry about the other man catching up to him. for now. “ yeah. sounds … nice. maybe a fresh start is what we ALL need. ” thin fingers rub at this back of his neck, nervous about the whole interaction. maybe it’s the drugs or maybe it’s what had gone down between the two at the dance. justin isn’t entirely sure. “ we should probably talk about the dance … ” he trails off, leaving it open for her to continue or reject. hook-up aside, shit had gone downhill fast at the dance, so he understands if she isn’t ready to face anything. “ did that mean anything ? "
justin was right, a fresh start was exactly what everyone needed and even though jess had originally pictured her fresh start being away from everyone else, it was nice to see a familiar face. jessica sighed, she had assumed he was going to bring it up but she was hoping it would be later in the conversation, or maybe if she was really lucky in a completely different conversation. “yeah, you’re probably right.” she said even though she had no idea what to say beyond that. it wasn’t very often that jess was lost for words but this was one of those moments. it was the first time she had sex with anyone since she’d found out what happened to her, she’d also cheated on alex, or course it meant something. she just didn’t know, or want to think about what exactly it meant. she still couldn’t quite believe it had even happened. “i don’t know justin.” is what she ended up saying after a long pause. “did it mean anything to you?”
hcmmcrcd:
For Troy interacting with another wasn’t easy, the isolation from his childhood causing him to struggle. He did so well enough but it was never easy to start conversation unless he had a reason to. And when it came to befriending it was a rarity. His personality one misunderstood by many. Changed by the life he sadly led. It wasn’t until further into his new life in New York that he realised he wasn’t living alone. His distance being kept for the most part as he didn’t know what to say, how to have a casual day to day conversation. Most of his in the past being about the world he lived in. The apocalypse that gave him a purpose, a calling. Without the wasteland surrounding him and nothing yet in common to talk about, he was lost for words. Keeping to himself until accidentally bumping into her. The two accidentally crossing paths in the apartment they shared together. His throat clearing as he awkwardly laid his eyes upon her. “Sorry, ma’am.” Apologising not usually his forte but feeling the need to in that moment.
( closed starter for @fmljessicadavis )
Since arriving in New York Jessica had been mostly keeping to herself. After everything that had happened at home she knew that being alone wasn’t a good idea but she also knew it was important to give herself time. She wanted to go out and explore for a while before she focused on meeting people. The only time she had spent in her room had been at night when she was sleeping and she hadn’t yet cooked anything in the kitchen, it was easy for her to forget she was living with somebody else. In the shock of the situation Jess almost dropped her cup of coffee on the floor but was thankfully able to save it. “No, it’s okay. I kind of forgot there was someone else living here.” She smiled, looking at him for a second. It was hard for her to focus on anything other than him being male, hopefully he was at least less of a dick than most of the guys she knew. “I’m Jess by the way.”
Reading Cafe {Belle Starter}
bellecharrie:
Belle worked in a reading cafe in new York. It was simple as a library with books you could check out, but with food and coffee as well. What better than to have a meal over a good book? If she was sucked into this life, completely away from the one she loved, pulled away from her father, than absolutely she’d make this life at least as least as painful as possible. Sure she made coffee, but her passion lived within the world of books. And there she was, placing the books in the Dewey decimal system. For now she was working on alphabetically placing the books in order.
“Of course I can help you! It’s my job after all. You want to borrow a Classic? May I recommenced Shakespeare? There are so many to choose from of course. I personally recommend Macbeth, Hamlet or A Midsummer Nights Dream. They really are so many to choose from the author. But if you wish to be sucked into one of his best…” Belle said curiously tilting her head to the left hand side. “Yes. I must recommend Romeo and Juliet. A Man and a Woman who were star crossed lovers. They were doomed from the beginning you see. Yes This play is a tragedy at its best, but its absolutely worth a read!” Belle says with a bright smile as she digs in the “S” author shelf searching for it until she finds it.
Jess was looking for a hobby, something to distract herself from everything else going on in her mind. She smiled when the girl walked over to her, attempting to take in everything that she was saying. Jessica had read Shakespeare before, mostly for school and never been a huge fan. “I’ll pass on the tragic love stories, I have enough of those in my own life without reading about other people’s.” She answered, still looking casually through the shelves.

lithe, calloused fingers pass furiously over keys of her laptop - the loud tapping of her hands against the keyboard thundering away with little regard for anything around her. beside her, sprawled out across the table, is a large leather-bound book flipped open to a page covered in words and images. symbols line the corner and there is a piece of loose leaf with vague recreations of them pressed half-beneath the cover. “i’ve nearly got it - i’m so close.” words are a hopeful breath on chapped lips as dark hair is swiped away from her eyes.
jess was simply walking past, on her way to get a coffee and go home, when she heard the girl’s voice. she paused and looked over the table for a few seconds. “close to what?” she asked before she’d even thought about if the question would be a distraction. it all just looked so interesting.
jess had been standing looking up at the empire state building for longer than she could remember TOO LONG. it had been at least an hour, apparently she had a lot of thinking to do. before she saw them she felt someone standing next to her, probably a tourist looking at the building too. “hey, you know how new york is the city of dreams? you think your dreams will come true even if you dont have any?”
