One Year/ Happy Birthday, Babe <3

Luckily my boyfriend doesn’t use Tumblr because I can't ruin the surprise. I try to get creative when I give him gifts, and our One year is on Thursday and his birthday is the 29th, so for convenience and budget sake I've decided to combine the two into one gift.

I must say that I tend to get inspiration for gifts online but I never want to copy them completely because that is lame. So I saw that people were giving 12 preplanned/ prepaid for dates, I couldn't afford to do 12 whole dates so I went with 3.

 Instead of calling them dates I turned them into quests and each quest is attached to 2 chests, when accepting a date (quest) he is allowed to open the two chest that corresponds with the quest. Inside will contain loot to help with the quest.

for the first one we will be going for sushi and a movie for his birthday (I took him out for Sushi on his birthday last year and that's when we started dating so I thought it would be cute)

for the second one we will be going to gameopolis (a boardgame cafe)  and getting burrito boys.

and for the third and last one it's a Lord of the Rings marathon with pizza and snacks. (We have wanted to marathon LOTR for a while now and I almost had to pick a new one because he wanted to start them last week)

I still need to go to bulkbarn and get some red and blue candies which I am going to call mana and health pots, then I'm going to write a lettter called "Achievement unlocked: One year" and make it into a scroll and add it in. (It will probably be partly sappy because I need to get my sap on) 

Long story short, I made giving gift cards cool and creative, and turned his gift into an irl RPG. (I mean kind of, I didn't get specific with XP and stuff but I didn't think it was necessary.) (excuse the bad drawing and messy writing, I know I could have printed it all out and made it look nicer but I like the personal hand written stuff)

Karlie’s Disney Challenge Movie #1 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Now I do want to point out that I am skipping  Academy Award Review of Walt Disney Cartoons  and I may not go completely in order depending on what I am feeling.

This is my pre-watch post. So I remember owning this movie on VHS and a Child, I also remember it being one of my grandmother’s favourite movies (considering the origional came out in 1937, she was fairly young when it was out and may have possibly enjoyed it as well.) 

It brings be a lot of nostalgia but I am pretty sure I only have a basic understanding of the story line. I think I remember an evil witch who gives Snow White a poisonous apple that makes her fall asleep and that she only wakes up once a prince comes to kiss her. I also remember the 7 dwarfs (I owned all 7 as plushes from the Disney Store, I even have a photo taken with them all that was shot professionally, I will attempt to find that over the next few weeks. I remember a few of the song tunes but I can’t say I remember the complete story. 

I also want to point out that I will be watching this version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. It does not seem to have additional scenes as some do, but I am not 100% sure. we will see how it goes.

So I found the “Jiminy Cricket” reference amusing. 

I also found it amusing that the Queen died in her ugliest state trying to be the prettiest and that her vultures basically ate her. 

Other than that there was a lot of nostalgia and I want to know if the huntsman died.

Karlie’s Disney Challenge

I’ve decided to start my own Disney Challenge, I have no idea how far I will get but I am basically going to watch Disney Movies starting with “Snow White and The Seven Drawfs” and go in order based on release date. Before I watch each movie I am going to attempt to explain what I remember about them. Some of these movies I have either never seen or have not seen since I was a child. I am then going to watch the movie. Once I watch the movie I am going to try to pull out themes and certain aspects that completely went over my head as a child. I’ve decided to post what happens here because it seems more appropriate than Facebook. I will most likely start this afternoon, wish me luck. I wonder how far I will get...

This is a message for ANYONE who is or has struggled with suicide

I want to reach as many people as possible with this post. 

Let me tell you a story. 

A few weeks ago my boyfriend lost one of his best friends to suicide. 

This person was 24 years old and I only wish he was still around to see all of the people who were brought together after his death. 

This person was: 

a hard worker

a wonderful musician

a best friend

a son

a cousin

a brother 

a person with a brilliant mind

someone who needed help 

He needed help and I am sure I am not alone in wishing that he was able to get the help he needed and deserved. Why is it that needing help makes us feel like all those other things on the list don’t matter anymore? You can seek help without losing all of your other qualities.  

If you are struggling with suicide I beg you to please get yourself some help and support. It does not make you any less of a person and everyone you care about will be so glad you did.

I wish that each and every one of you struggling with suicide could have been there with me at this young mans house after his death. I witnessed all of his beloved friends pass around one of his most prized guitars. We sat around in a circle and people took turns playing songs with the most passion I’ve ever seen dedicated to their lost friend. This man’s dad was there and I don’t think I will ever forget the look in his eyes. I will never get this image out of my head, How much this man was suffering at the loss of his son. I don’t want anyone to feel a loss like this one ever again. 

I am asking that if you are feeling at all suicidal you try to get help. If anyone is wondering where to start or wanting to talk please send me an ask and I can try to get you information based on your location. Please don’t let suicide win, don’t let it destroy your world. You are worth more than that.  You are so much more than your suicidal thoughts, your mental illness, your depression. 

You yourself might be a son, brother, cousin, best friend, hard worker, musician, deep thinker, the possibilities are endless. Getting help will not take any of that away. It will help preserve who you are so you can continue to share those gifts with people you care about. By getting help we are not letting suicide win. We are defeating it one person at a time. I believe in you.
