It’s been an emotional week. I wanted to share this encounter I had with a very hateful man on the Pittsburgh bus because it reminds me that there are brave people in this world. Let’s all do everything we can to stand up for each other.

Okay, suckers, listen up. 

The electoral college hasn’t voted yet. 

They don’t vote until December. And while 29 states and DC have laws requiring electors to vote along state lines, the rest don’t.  Donald Trump only got a few votes (nine) into the majority. 

If a handful of electors swing or even abstain and become faithless electors, the entire system would get thrown into crisis. 

These are the states that require electors to vote according to state popular vote. That leaves:

Arizona

Arkansas

Florida

Georgia

Idaho

Illinois

Indiana

Iowa

Kansas

Kentucky

Lousiana

Minnesota

Missouri

New Hampshire

New Jersey

New York

North Dakota

Pennsylvania

Rhode Island

South Dakota

Texas

West Virginia 

All states where electors can do whatever the hell they want. In fact, even in the other states electors are only subject to a small fine. 

So, in summary, until December you can harass the hell out of your electors (list found here). Remind them who won the popular vote. Remind them of their duty to protect the nation. Tell them how the presidency will effect you directly. A faithless elector is a pretty big deal, and even one of two would make a big impact in terms of showing how awful our presumptive president elect is. 

This fight isn’t over yet.

i would try to make a joke but we just got a vice president who openly, proudly admits he would subject children to psychological torture if it meant there was even a chance that they wouldn’t grow up to be like me. a specific kind of psychological torture that is so traumatizing it often ends with children taking their own lives. we have a vice president who would rather have a dead child than a gay one.

Pictures of white people crying after Romney lost were funny because you knew nothing bad was actually going to happen to those people but pictures of women and people of color crying after this election are devastating because we’re actually afraid we’re going to die

I went to the @philamuseum before going to the artist reception at the Wayne art Center yesterday and it was so amazing! The collection is great but the Asian art exhibit really blew me away! Also extra points for including asian works in their collection. As an asian american, I really appreciated it 👌👏 (at Philadelphia Museum of Art)
