why do publishing houses not understand that people DO judge books by their covers
WE WANT COOL COVERS
I know the tide is changing and weâre seeing more and more quality covers but the book world needs to get their shit together on so many levels because there are so many things they could do to spike physical book sales
I love how Goodreads says âWant to see the books youâve read this year?â starting on December 21st. Like, bitch, do you think Iâm done? Iâve got ten days to go, Iâm not finished, back the fuck up,
IâVE STILL GOT FIVE MORE DAYS GOODREADS
Einsteinâs Dreams:Â December 26, 2014
I found this book difficult to get into at the start, perhaps because I was reading it in small doses - 3 minutes here, 5 minutes there. This book is best devoured in a few sittings, and I became completely absorbed in the narrative. Einsteinâs Dreams is beautifully written and it leaves you with a lot to think about. The question remains - what is time?
This book came to me from a Spin book club article from around 6 years ago, and Iâm glad I read it.Â
We Are All Completely Beside Ourselves:Â December 2, 2014
i began reading this book a few weeks ago, but exams got in the way and I didnât get very far. I picked it up again after NaNoWriMo ended yesterday and was completely engrossed all over again.
This  book suggestion came to me via Sara Quin (of Tegan and Sara), as have many of the books I have recently purchased. The book certainly did not disappoint, and I stayed up much of the night reading last night, something I have not done for some time. I spent all day waiting for the chance to begin reading again.
One of the things that I really loved about this book is how I identified with the main character, Rosemary. Â There were so many things that the character said and thought that I swear have been things I have said and thought in the past. The book was an emotional roller coaster, and I was left both laughing and crying throughout.
It is difficult to talk about the book without major spoilers, so instead I leave you with some quotes.
"At twenty-two, I had the callowest possible definition of interesting and, by the measure of my own callipers, was far from interesting myself."
"Something inside me knew that big words werenât the way to Russellâs heart, but IÂ couldnât think what else I could offer.
"Letâs just pause here for a moment to imagine how a person who felt imposed on by vampires in 1979 feels todayâ
âFuck was another word that felt good in my mouth. Fuck, fuck, fuck. Quack, quack, quack.â
