[Quotes ‘nd Notes]
-Season One, Episode Eight; “Rixty Minutes”
It’s so sad that when you see someone as they really are, it ruins them.
BoJack Horseman, Season 3, episode 7 (via hammre)
I remembered Bojack Horseman existed
”… but underneath all that, deep down, I’m a good person, and I need you to tell me that I’m good, Diane. Tell me, please, Diane. Tell me that I’m good.”
Bojack horseman gets too real sometimes
Religion gives people a feeling of security in exchange for unquestioning obedience. The main role of religion throughout history has been to keep society well behaved. This was done by imprinting children with moral codes and instilling a fear of authority that shaped them into law-abiding and hard-working citizens. Unlike spirituality, religion aimed to enforce good behavior through programming and intimidation rather than true understanding, so the improvement to society came at the cost of ignorance.
Today, those who are spiritually smart can extract and combine the truths from any religion to increase their own wisdom; those who are spiritually weak join religions simply to belong to something, and they end up swallowing and parroting a rigid belief system that they do not even understand. Sadly, nasty individuals also use religion to make themselves appear nicer than they really are, like wolves dressing themselves in sheep’s clothing. Some of them even become famous preachers or ministers who scam their thousands of naive followers.
But the worst purpose religion serves is to spiritually drain and enslave mankind. Whenever someone blindly obeys questionable sources of authority rather than listening to his own heart, part of his soul shrivels from neglect. Whenever someone begs an external authority for strength and assistance rather than realizing that divine power is within, soul energy is lost to this external authority and it becomes harder to access the inner divine power. Whenever someone believes something without experiencing, pondering, or intuiting it for himself and then goes around pushing it onto others, his ability to think new thoughts decreases and he becomes ever more robotic. Organized religion encourages all of these.
There are those who declare that the Bible is the word of God. Anyone who disagrees with them can expect to be ridiculed, attacked and perhaps be referred to as an agent of Satan. Mental slavery is the worst form of slavery. It gives you the illusion of freedom. Makes you trust, love and defend your oppressor while making an enemy of those who are trying to free you or open your eyes.
Doubt as sin. Christianity has done its utmost to close the circle and declared even doubt to be sin. One is supposed to be cast into belief without reason. When we blindly adopt a religion, a political system, a literary dogma, we become automatons. There are few things more dangerous than inbred religious certainty. The spirit of inquiry, the search for greater truth beyond religion and science, the profound seriousness of doing real thinking, philosophy and ontology – these are almost totally lacking in humanity. Humanity is therefore subhuman from lack of genuine intelligence. They automatically reject any emergent facts or realities that do not fit their brain dead cognitive pattern of belief and disbelief.
“I was only following orders,” has been unsuccessfully used as a legal defense in hundreds of cases (probably most notably by Nazi leaders at the Nuremberg tribunals following World War II), ISIS, etc. However, nothing can justify “violence”, an individual is always responsible for their personal actions.
“ Religious Followers” are in a deep underlining condition of hating themselves. You can’t have true self love and be a religious follower simultaneously. Nobody who truly loves themselves would ever blindly follow anybody’s orders, that’s like telling them “I am your slave, I am your dog, walk all over me, tell me whatever you want and I’ll do it, I don’t care whether its right or wrong, I’ll do it.”
As one can see there is no self love in that, there is no self respect in that at all. Just as it is not possible for a religious follower to truly exercise consciousness, it is also not possible for a religious follower to truly love themselves. Because they have given their personal responsibility to someone else. You don’t need religion to have morals. If you cannot tell right from wrong, then you lack empathy, not religion. Morality and religion are separate. Morality is doing what is right regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told regardless of what is right.
In the sphere of duality, the highest attainment which you could achieve as an individualized unit of consciousness was the state termed Unconditional Love. Now we shall leave even that behind, as we move into the realm of All-Encompassing Love, where love simply is - all pervading, inside outside, everywhere. It is the glue which holds our Star together. Where there is no more ’I love you,’ for we are no longer living under the illusion of separation, but where love - simply is… It is the foundation of everything.
