At Brasserie La Classe in Shin Yokohama

It is rare that I try out classy restaurants, much more if it's a hotel restaurant, but this French restaurant in Cubic Plaza in Shin Yokohama offers a fairly reasonable lunch set.  The restaurant has a very nice ambiance and that day, I was able to eat at the table overlooking the train station.. though not that scenic.  I got a beef steak with fries on the sides that day.  The meat was so good (medium rare just like I want it).  My friend got a salmon in cream sauce, which is equally tasty as well.

Shiruko (しるこ) Sweet beans soup in a can!

Just like the Miso soup can in the previous post, you can also get this sweet drink in a very warm can during winter.  But as a person who likes food salty rather than sweet, I still prefer the Miso soup.

Almost everything can be bought in a vending machine in Japan.. including this Miso Soup.  Helped me a lot during those cold winter days.  Since it's in a metal container, the can itself served as an alternative hot pack.

@Kanin Club, in Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati, Philippines

Kanin Club used to be a must-be place in Tagaytay, a two hour drive south of Manila which offers traditional Filipino dishes with some twist.  I was introduced to this restaurant by a friend who I met last year during my yearly visit to the PH.

Stores opens at around noon so we had to wait but good enough since we were the first customers (Yay).  Our menu included Binagoongan Rice, Sinigang na baboy (pork in tamarind based soup), and Crispy Dinuguan which is by the way, my favorite among the food that we ordered.  For two people, it was a lot so we got to take home of of the Sinigang with us.

All in all, for two persons including drinks, we spent at around not more than 1000 pesos.. which is quite good for 3 meals and 2 drinks.

If you happen to land in Manila and are looking for good places to eat traditional Filipino foods, I recommend this place.. though not very easy to find around the metro as they only have three branches in the city.

My first shot of that famous Halloween dessert, the pumpkin pie (not cake, as was corrected by a friend haha thanks by the way).  It was heaven at first, but eventually, the sweetness killed my throat haha.. but I do like it still.. in moderation

@Red Mango in Mall of Asia PH

Having heard about this yogurt place from a friend a lot of times, I decided to give it a try and discover what the fuzz is about.  After having dinner that day, I went to this place for dessert.  

Red Mango gives you a lot of choices for your yogurt.. So much choices that it'll make your head spin with all those toppings and yogurt flavors.  In order to help their customers in choosing which one to have, they offer suggestions of various combinations of their toppings.  I had a Japanese themed combination that day, having been from Japan.. should have chosen a different one haha!

Three types of cups, price ranges from 80 pesos to 225 pesos.. I say it's a bit pricey.. but a must try for those who are curious as to how much variety you can have on your yogurt.

At Gyukaku, near Yokohama station

Gyu-kaku literally means "beef corner", it is indeed located at a corner of some street near my place.  Having seen the restaurant every time I pass by that corner, I decided to give it a try one time when the curiosity arises for that place.  For a yakiniku, or grilled meat, set, you pay around 2500 yen, which I may say is not so affordable, and not as hunger-quenching.

Another one of those unusual convenience store Starbucks drinks!  I loove Chocolate Truffles.  So it was an automatic impulse to just buy this drink, despite not usually buying off-the-shelf coffee drinks.

Red milk tea tapoica drink from famima! I was craving for a Pearl tapioca drink and unfortunately, this is the closest that I could find :(. Was a bit disappointed though, the tapioca isn't as big as a pearl tapioca, and not as mochi as the real one. Taken May 15 2012

Tom yum ramen @ the Yokohama Tulips Festival last April 15 2012 I always love Food Carts, or in Japanese:Yatai because they would often offer food which are unusual. Yesterday's Yatai challenge for me was this Tom Yum based noodle soup. Unlike the real Tom Yum soup from Thailand, this fusion is not so spicy, a little bit sweet, and, to my dismay, a little far from being a Tom Yum soup. The noodles that they used is Pho, a known vietnamese noodles, which was okay. It had been sprouts, slices of pork, and a crunchy chip which I don't know what is called except that I know it's made up of flour and egg.. It was a nice try with the Japanese-Thai fusion but would prefer it to be sour and salty not sweet and spicy (which is one of the reasons why I like Tom yum because I'm a fan of sour food). It's not as great and for 600 yen a bowl, I would say it's a bit overpriced.

At Rigoletto at Roppongi Hills It was my first time to be in a standup bar. I'm not even sure if you call it that way but anyway, it's a bar and restaurant where you pay as you order, and leave as you finish. There aren't that much chairs around but I can see women, in their most striking and shall I say seductive outfit, waiting for a date. Well, this blog is not about them! This is about this great beer I tasted, a recommendation of a friend. This is the second European beer that I ever had and I can say I'm beginning to be a fan of European beers. Unlike your regular beers, European beers are a little sweet. And for this particular German beer, it has a tinge of orange in it. It is smooth to taste.. And I love the foam on my lips too. Haha.. Well, it's a must for beers. I don't know the exact price for this drink because a friend paid it for me (thanks!) but I was told it's about 10 dollars per glass. Well, a bit expensive there, but it's worth the gulp!

Maxim coffee, Cocoa Capuccino Orea Flavor I got this drink as a present from my loving coworkers, thinking because of my weakness of milk chocolates, chose for me a different kind on drink. I was happy to receive such gifts. As I am always happy receiving something unusual. What surprises me with this drink though is the lack of sweetness, for which I am really greatful for. I barely recognize the Oreo though the cocoa flavor is pretty much there. If you ask me, I wouldn't recognize this as coffee,..but rather more of a chocolate drink. All in all, the experience is... Hmmm.. Normal. Probably because a hype for me, because of how it was packaged haha Taken February 6 2012
