Gourmet Burgers at Burger Chef
Last February, I spent a lovely time with friends at the newest burger joint in Davao. But to call it a joint feels like an injustice to the establishment!
Burger Chef isn’t your ordinary burger spot because they serve gourmet burgers! That’s right! From the buns, to the patty, to the cheese, to the vegetables, to the herbs, and even the sauces, everything is of top quality.
I tried the Tartiflette burger; a mini tower consisting of 120 grams of pure US beef patty, Reblochon cheese, bacon cubes, onion, mesclun, and sauce Rosalie (which is named after Chef Rosalie Monestier, I believe). It was a bit messy to eat but the tastes and textures blended gorgeously. My beef patty was cooked medium well and, yes, they ask you for your preference on how your patty is cooked! What surprised me, honestly, were the bacon cubes! Thick cuts of bacon that were in between crispy and firm and they tasted like no bacon I have ever tried before! They were just the right amount of smoky, then add the Reblochon cheese and, well.. the burger was gone in a minute or two! Haha!
This burger is Burger Chef’s French themed burger. They also have other themed burgers, such as Mi Amore!, an Italian themed burger with pepperoni and mozzarella, and Mykonos, a Greek themed burger that has a grilled eggplant, feta cheese, and uses ground lamb meat instead of beef for the patty!
Truly, one visit is not enough. You’ve got to taste them all, right?
Burgers range from P145.00 (their regular burger) to P485 (the Ultimate burger), and they also serve sides like chips and fries.
When you enter the store, what immediately catches your attention is the blackboard wall to the right, filled up with beautiful chalk art. They change this every month, commissioning local artists to do it, so there’s always something new to look forward to (aside from the delicious burgers).
Not only do they feature local artists, they also donate to a local charity organization! P1.00 per burger sold and P1000 every month as a reward for the beautiful art work!
This place is the whole package , so what are you waiting for?
My friends and I definitely had a blast! Also, don’t forget to say hi to the owner and his family!
Visit their FB Page for more information! You can find Burger Chef at Plaza del Carmen in Davao City! If you know where Bon Appetit is, then you know where to go! Oh, yeah, the owners own both establishments!! :D
