where is casca going?

before the eclipse, casca wasn't at all prone to wander. after, it's as though she physically can't stay in one place. she wandered away from godot's cave and safety in conviction arc, and even with luca and the girls she frequently just wandered off on her own.

she ran towards griffith like she was looking for something on the hill of swords. she wandered away from guts during winter's journey. where was she going? why?

in chapter 372, with her mind restored, she saw snippets of people she knew and loved. guts, farnese, schierke. even kept in stasis by magic, those images, those feelings, drove her to escape. driven by something she couldn't even articulate because of the magic dulling her mind, she ran towards those irreplaceable things.

"why did you come here?" griffith asks, in chapter 386. casca is wandering yet again.

is it possible that, even as elaine, in a walking dream, she was trying to find someone? she felt, still, and half-remembered faces if not names. was she searching for guts? maybe, but she still wandered off when she was with him. was it the hawks? was she looking for them, wondering why their faces were so familiar in her mind, and yet they were nowhere to be found?

was it her child? are they, even now, always seeking each other out across the space between the astral and physical worlds?

casca is wandering, looking for the people she's lost. she'll wander until she finds them.
