10 Hours of Walking in NYC as a Woman

I don’t remember the last time I was this uncomfortable!  According to the last screen, this woman faced over 100 instances of verbal communication in those ten hours which doesn’t include any of the non-verbal winks or whistles.

As always, don’t read the comments.  They range from guys defending this behavior because who doesn’t like a compliment? to racists saying this is what happens when the streets are full of n*ggers.  I don’t want to talk to anyone when I’m just casually walking down the street, let alone being expected to respond to ONE HUNDRED DUDES trying to get laid.  Are you serious right now?  On what planet does this look like an enjoyable day out?  Also, I’m not going to pretend that catcalling isn’t a part of hip-hop culture, but all of these faces are blurred.  There are some obviously Black and Latino men, but not every white man is pale, blonde, and wearing a suit.

Anyway.  If you watch this video and don’t feel uncomfortable, there’s something wrong with you.  I can’t imagine this being my life every single day and wondering when one of those catcalls is going to escalate into an actual confrontation because you didn’t want to respond to them.  

I’m never speaking to a woman I don’t know on the street ever again.  I wish I could give them all a vacation.
