My first Discworld book was the Wee Free Men. I loved it, and read it over and over again. But since that was the only one my local library had, for the longest time I thought it was a standalone. Imagine my delight when, years later, I discovered the rest of this fantastic series.
The City Watch books in particular struck a note with me, and they’ve quickly become some of my all time favorites. So of course I had to draw this to celebrate.
For everyone who ‘used to love reading’ but now hasn’t finished a book in years, you CAN get it back. Genuinely start bringing a book (preferably short and either fiction or a non fiction topic you already really enjoy) everywhere you go and when you have 5-20 mins waiting for the bus or at the doctors office or mechanic or whatever, get out your book and read it! You don’t have to finish it quickly or even read it often but it is so good for your brain and fun to get into the habit of reading more (and replacing being on your phone for those moments). Source: I read 0 books in 2023 and I’ve read 12 in the first 4 months of 2026
My illustrations the most based poem about tigers by Nael, age 6
Every time I read it I feel space inside my chest expand in very *emotion* way.
Hi. I had a question. We had to say goodbye to my little dog last night. It's the first time I'll be getting the ashes back, and I was wondering where you got your lovely urns
So sorry for the loss of your little friend. Most of mine are still in the basic urns that come from the crematorium because they’re expensive to replace. But I also have a couple from Etsy. I’ve bought from AmanitaPottery, GarlicPottery, and BlueHenCraft.
I hope to replace them all with their own special, custom urns eventually but it’s slow going. I’m locked in on making and saving money until my house is paid off 🫡
Edit to add: I’ve been happy with all 3 custom shops I’ve used. AmanitaPottery in particular has my favorite designs but the other two are great as well and I’ve had no issues!!
The only complaint I have is that the lettering on Chester’s urn (from BlueHenCraft) was hard to read so I had to line it in with a fine tip sharpie. That’s really not the seller’s fault tho, just the nature of such a light color I think
Inserting myself rudely into this conversation to show off the urn I made for my last dog
hit it, Neil!
Happy 20th Anniversary of Neil Banging Out The Tunes!!!!!
More rarer images of Neil, my beloved:
20 years.
I find it so beautiful that this little rat's life has been remembered with love for 20 years and will be hopefully for decades to come. Truly a marvel of the internet.
<3 love you Neil!!!!

🏳️⚧️ TRANSGENDER DAY OF VISIBILITY 🏳️⚧️
DON'T LET THE BASTARDS GET YOU DOWN
“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972
Note the date, people:
That’s 1972
29 years before AVEN was started online,
and 47 years before the present.
And that’s only the date that Manifesto was written, so asexuals as members of a community must have existed at least some time before that.
So, no: we are not just Tumblr trenders. Get out of here with that.
supporting my asexual friends and foes by rebbloging this
It’s 50 years this month since the first version of the Asexual Manifesto was written. Aces have been writing about our experiences under this name for at least half a century. We are not an internet fad.
