Celegorm returns from his wandering with Orome
I could go on a whole spiel on Maglor's character but that's not relevant here
said whooooooo
said who
....
can we have the spiel
Completely disorganized thoughts: there's a lot of unfavorable interpretations of Maglor here, but hey you asked.
1. Maglor might be the nicest and mildest-tempered but I don't think that makes him the "token good" son of Feanor, nice≠good.
2. I don't see his adoption of the twins as an alturistic descison. I think he mostly did it to alleviate his own guilt over the 3rd kinslaying as well as the death of the Ambarussa, not to say that he didn't grow to love them but I won't give him redemption points for that.
3. For one with the "mightiest voice" , it's really ironic that he couldn't get his brothers in line the way Maedhros could, and that he couldn't persuade Maedhros to surrender to Eonwe at the end. This also ties to Maglor's feelings on Maedhros' abdication : Despite being a competent ruler during Maedhros' absence, he willingly gave the crown back to Maedhros when he returned, only for him to hand it to Nolofinwe (a descision he would've made with or without his brothers' unanimous approval) without consulting Maglor, which unwittingly reinforced the idea of Maglor as the lesser and weaker elder brother. This had to have caused some friction between M/M, not that Maglor would ever voice them out loud and add to Maedhros' burdens.
4. I believe his constant use of song for evil acts weakened the strength/power of his voice over the course of the First Age.
5. Maglor's wife is never mentioned or brought up in any meaningful way, these is most likely another instance of the Feanorians erasing their women out of history for their "unfaithfulness", Maglor is no better than his brothers in this aspect either.
6. This is where I admit I might be reading too much into things, but Maglor being the one to slay Uldor is quite noteworthy to me. It could've been Maedhros who was leading them, or Caranthir who first trusted him, or even either Celegorm or Curufin who had a huge distaste for the Secondborn after what happened with Beren. But it was Maglor specifically. Is he playing into the role of being Maedhros' right hand by being his executioner too?
7. Maglor started out as a famed attention-grabbing minstrel in the limelight and ended up as a lone wandering hermit who tries to keep out of everyone's sight. Oh and he probably turned into a crab too.
Hello!! I hope you don't mind the ask--I've just stumbled across your art and must simply asksjhdskh because my jaw is on the floor??? I simply must ask you you learned to draw so expressively because h o l y c o w (and also...drop secrets for drawing Pretty Lads...?)
Anyway, love your art, will be promptly on a reblog spree <3 love artists in the lotr fandom!
Thanks for staying ʚ(꒦ິ ꒳꒦ີ )ɞ♡
I would credit my most influential inspo as makanidotdot, who is excellent at expressions!
Idk about secrets... I feel like it's easy to draw conventionally attractive characters... but I like to think about how their looks would match their personalities first, or how "hard/sharp" or "soft/flowy" their facial features would be. I hope that makes sense lol.
I love your art! It is so funny and irreverent :) I could stare for hours, it always put a smile on my face!
(⸝⸝- ̫ -⸝⸝)
I adore how you draw Maglor looking so very cunty
He is Feanor's son after all. I like a charming and beguiling Maglor.
I actually like your lawn. Imma stay
Who are you and why are you here
Hypothetically speaking, if I drew Curufin as a beaver, would you be offended if I was inspired by your design somewhat? It’s just a meme🥹 it’s just you and another artist I find have the best face cards for Curufin for that😭 I hope it doesn’t read as offensive! I love your art!
I won't be offended but he'd be. Go ahead, he needs a good humbling
So is Haleth and Caranthir just a more compelling version of Aegnor and Andreth?
because taking the idea of Aegnor/Andreth's romance and superimposing it over Haleth/Caranthir is peak fandom move.
When you expect her to kiss the ground you walk on after performing a very heroic last-minute rescue but she lectures you about being late instead <3
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
