David Hernandez the smoldering Former American Idol contestant and all-round babe opens up about his struggles with self-esteem while releasing a incredible, heart-wrecking, powerhouse of a ballad, Beautiful . We at Fop are scratching our heads and wondering why he ever had an issue. He seems to have it all the looks, the body and a million dollar voice. But having it all and knowing your worth aren't exactly the same. Hernandez goes on to tell us, “It’s something I inherited.” “My mom had me at 16. Trying to figure out your identity while raising another human is incredibly challenging.” He recalls witnessing all of her ups and downs and says he has experienced them too. “I was down on myself the day I recorded the song,” he admits. “My skin was breaking out and I remember thinking, real music stars aren’t suppose to have these kinds of problems. I had lost a bunch of weight too, due to stress and not eating regularly. I was in a funk from some failed business relationships and my music seemed to be at a stand still. There is so much pressure in this industry to be perfect and deliver amazingly every time. While I know it isn't reality, a few pitfalls allowed me to give into the negative thoughts in my mind. It wasn’t until I recorded the track, Beautiful and listened to it back that I thought, ‘Well, damn, this song should empower me to realize that I don't need to be perfect’.” Hernandez even had doubts after being signed to a major record label. He explains the struggles that come with catering to industry executives’ high expectations: “Labels were always telling me to be me but then expected me to fit their mold of what David Hernandez was suppose to be. It was challenging. Even though I was physically fit, I didn’t have the strength to stand up for myself because I always feared I would get dropped.” With its uplifting verses and anthemic chorus, “Beautiful” encourages listeners to celebrate their so-called flaws by finding the beauty in their imperfections. The song also promotes unity of people from varying races, religions, body types, and sexual orientations. Beautiful written by Mark Grilliot, Adrian Newman, Ryan Stewart, and Stephen Werner and produced by Grilliot. David has appeared on The Ellen Show, The Today Show, MTV’s TRL, EXTRA, Entertainment Tonight, Access Hollywood, Teen Choice Awards, Idol Tonight, FOX-TV’s Idol Gives Back. He was also named among TV Guides’ Sexiest Stars. Beautiful is out now on iTunes

Despite his famous last name, EJ Johnson, the son of basketball legend Magic Johnson, is determined to make a mark of his own, on his terms. I first noticed EJ when TMZ ran a headline story, Magic Johnson’s Son Goes Public with BF – Parents so Proud. On the front page of the tabloid, EJ is pictured in his signature black attire on a simple stroll with a handsome fresh faced gentleman down Sunset Blvd. The story broke the internet. Even Oprah had a sit down with Magic and Cookie filled with questions about EJ’s coming out story. By 2014 EJ had butterflyed into his own. He landed a recurring role on the E! Network hit show, Rich Kids of Beverly Hills but by season two he had made such a prominent mark with his catchy one liners and killer style that he cemented his role and became a staple—making him the break out star.

Three years later EJ has gone from Johnson heir to becoming his own man. A dramatic transformation had EJ going from close to 350lbs., to his current svlete stature. Its not hard to miss with all the paparazzi images being circulated around the internet. EJ gets a coffee! EJ goes shopping! EJ hails a cab! He has quickly become a tabloid favorite strutting his new body with newfound confidence and sex appeal.

Now EJ has landed his own reality show EJ and the City, a spinoff of Rich Kids of Beverly Hills. The show will follow his fabulous life in NYC and jetsetting around the world. During our editorial shoot and interview with EJ cameras followed his every move captivated by his bright smile and infectiousl laugh. Its easy to see why they would want to follow him around. My time spent wtih EJ was nothing short of delightful learning aboutabout his love for New York, fashion, philanthropy and where he sees himself in the near future. I found out first hand that EJ is dynamic, charming and intelligent with a sense of humor that rivals any judge or queen from Rupaul’s Drag Race.

So you just moved to New York. Are you living here permanently? I still go back and forth from here and LA. I like having both cities in my life. I do the bi-coastal thing. I love it! I love the city.

New York is the fashion capital of the world. You have amazing style and great presence. So why is it important that you are here now?

I wanted to reconnect with my first love—fashion, and when I first moved here for school. I really fell in love with the city and the energy, the people and the fashion. I came back to get that energy back into my life. We’ll see where it takes me.

New York is full of energy. There is a lot to get into and so much to do. Do you see yourself having your own line?

Certainly somewhere down the line I’ll have my own line. I don’t know what it’s going to look like yet. But I definitely know I want it to be accessible to everybody. It’s going to be very me.

"It doesn’t really matter what sex is suppose to wear it. I don’t really see a line with that. If it works for you, your image and your look then you should wear it", EJ states in the upcoming article.

From growing up on a small farm in nowhere California, to creating a persona and being featured on Rupaul’s Drag Race, Miss Fame has lived a life of both glamour and resilience. She opens up about her humble beginnings and the determination it has taken her to get this far. This self-proclaimed Norma Jean has got the sass, strength, and balls to accomplish much more.

Fop: You grew up in the middle of nowhere California on a chicken farm with your grandparents. How did this experience influence your creativity?

Miss Fame: Growing up on a farm, where there was nothing but rolling hills and barnyard animals was a very special experience. It was the only one I ever knew until this point and what I gained was a deeply creative mind. I know that I have always been a creative person but when placed in an environment that was stripped of the busyness of a city, I was left with my imagination. Trees became houses, bales of hay were constructed with a tarp to make a pool during the summer and chickens became friends. I am grateful to have this experience and see the benefits of having a start on a farm as it inspired so many of my dreams I live today.

You sometimes call yourself the Norma Jean of drag. What is that about? Is Miss Fame your modern day interpretation of Marilyn Monroe?

Calling myself the Norma Jean of drag is a point of view for me. I feel that my upbringing being a humble, hands-in-the-dirt experience allowed me to evolve into the glamorous persona that is Miss Fame. I looked at the golden ages of Hollywood to guide my vision for my future; of course Marilyn was a reference for many as she was such an icon of beauty. To me, Miss Fame is the modern day old Hollywood blonde, to which glamour will never die.

Before your persona, Miss Fame, you were known as a very talented makeup artist. How did your interest in makeup start?

Makeup was a medium for me. I started as a self-taught artist; using pencil, crayon and marker, which evolved into pastel and charcoal. Eventually I took an interest in the beauty field and became a makeup artist five years ago in New York. Although I had already been playing with my face as a canvas for many years, I never said I was a makeup artist until I started to get paid for it. I took my portrait style art background and evolved it into something more; creating faces that lived for that night and were never to be seen exactly the same ever again. I love that about makeup and, in turn, about Miss Fame.

In a previous interview you talked about projecting this idea of greatness for yourself and that you were a circle in a square family. How did you find the strength and drive to become who you are today, and to find comfort in your own skin?

I do believe it is important for us all to live in our fullest potential, but how can we ever know what our fullest potential is without a bit of soul searching? I say that I grew up feeling like a circle in a square family because I was. For a while, I was the only openly gay person, also the only focused artist, amongst a few other qualities. After going through the emotions of trying to find my place in a confined environment, I decided to take a geographic approach to evolve. Moving to New York proved to be successful, but not without its challenges. I used my human history as a guide for life, to remain determined and not to settle for anything less than my end goal--which is still developing as I respond to these questions. I am grateful for my family. I love them with all my heart. They taught me so much and, in turn, I hope that I have been mutually motivating….

We met Ronnie Kroell nearly eight years ago on Bravo’s Make Me a Super Model. Even though he didn’t win the competition, he certainly won our hearts. Maybe it was his bromance with fellow con- testant and straight model Ben DiChiara, or simply his all-American charm and good looks. At that time, being gay on a major television network and having a budding “gayish” relationship or friend- ship with another male was something that America hadn’t really seen. This led to Ronnie becoming an unexpected trailblazer and put a handsome, friendly face on the gay rights movement. He has gone on to grace the covers of Instinct, Next and even Playgirl Magazine, and has worked with gay rights organi- zations such as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD), Human Rights Campaign, American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and Latino Commission on AIDS (LCOA). After re-watching old episodes of Make Me a Super Model we wanted to see what this model-turned-activist is up to today. It also gave us an excuse to photograph that gor- geous face. We first met you on Bravo’s Make me a Super Model. What made you want to audition for that show? Did you realize it was going to make such an impact in your life and career?

RK: I had always dreamed of making it big in model- ing, but taking the next step was scary and exciting at the same time. So, when Make Me A Supermodel came along (via a Craigslist ad), I knew it was time to take a risk and chase the dream. I had no idea just how much it would impact my life and career, but I’m grateful every day.

What was it about you on that show at the time that made you the breakout star even when you didn’t win the modeling competition? RK: I’d like to believe that it was because I was unafraid to be myself and that I was open about every- thing. But, the reality is that the #BRONNIE fans were probably waiting to see if we would make out.

One of the focal points of the show was your Bromance with straight model and competitor Ben DiChiara. Did you ever really make out with Ben? Curious minds want to know. RK: You’ll have to wait and purchase my memoirs because I certainly have some juicy stories to share.
