At the Risk of Getting Hate...
When the Phone Rings was pretty okay for a k-drama but looking back on it was a 6 out of 10.
Yes, it had a lot of good stuff: +a FL that took initiative when she saw the opportunity - when she took the cellphone and used it as a chance to get out of her awful marriage, I loved it. +hot make out scenes - always love to see those +excellent tension and cliff hangers - This was so excellent, I enjoyed the !!!! moments more than most of the plot. +side characters I rooted for and hated on -the sister is my favorite character. I was betting she would be a bitch, but she was awesome. Wish we had more of her.
But then there's the stuff that was just stupid: +the ML was in love the FL but didn't have the brains to do something about it. I guess he was okay with a mediocre lifestyle with his crush for 3 years instead of doing something about it. He was asshole because the plot made him one. +the subplot about the disappearing kids was confusing and kinda rushed. It really was there to bring our side couple together and explain the villain's backstory, but I felt it was so odd. +the last episode- do I need to explain why?
Being honest, I didn't hate the show. I actually really enjoyed it, but looking back and thinking about it, I can't say that it's the best k-drama I've seen in a while. It was thrilling, for sure, but it lacked substances and clarity and a lot of it felt rushed.
