100 days of Swiss German

I’m taking part in The Great Discontent and Ella Luna’s #The100DayProject and dug up my old tumblr to give me a home base to post.

I decided my 100 days of learning and commitment would be dedicated to speaking Swiss German. 

My mom is from Switzerland and never taught me or my sisters how to speak the dialect of German. Every time I visit it’s a battle to communicate with my family and a vacation feeling lost in translation. I know a few basic words that have stuck with me over the years, but nothing too concrete. I cannot read or write in Swiss German either so my goal is to create flashcards of words written out in English phonetics that make sense to me.

The words may not be 100% accurate, seeing as there are many different accents in the small country of Switzerland and this will all be based on my mom’s dialect.
