I will make a beautiful life for myself no matter how long it takes. I will I will I will
Everytime I rewatch Spider-Man: No Way Home Iâm hit with the strongest urge to keep writing the fic I abandoned three years ago đ
BAD NEWS: it will not be the same forever
GOOD NEWS: it will not be the same forever

Kurt Vonnegut wrote: âWhen I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig. I was talking to one of the archeologists one day during our lunch break and he asked those kinds of âgetting to know youâ questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? Whatâs your favorite subject? And I told him, no I donât play any sports. I do theater, Iâm in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes.
And he went WOW. Thatâs amazing! And I said, âOh no, but Iâm not any good at ANY of them.â
And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind because no one had ever said anything like it to me before: âI donât think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think youâve got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.â
And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadnât been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of Talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could âWinâ at them.
Soooo I made this back in 2023 and never finished it so itâs been sitting in my drafts ever since. I rediscovered it today and am actually impressed at how far I got! Figured I could leave it unfinished and post what I have so far. Thatâs better than leaving it to collect dust in my files.
Anyways this was inspired by the cass apocalyptic series (aka my biggest hyperfixation at the time) Enjoy!
I live a very balanced life of noticing things nobody else does and not noticing the things that literally everybody notices
No, YOU watched project hail mary. I let it consume my soul
Okay again, I donât believe in conformitygate but Iâm obsessed with it as a concept. The fact that Murray said you have to water a story down if you want to sell it to the masses, but that all it takes is one person calling bullshit and then everyone will fall in line. The fact that this is what has happened with the theory and the general audience doesnât even know why itâs call conformitygate. Will saying itâs like a scary movie that you canât turn off. The finale being played in the theaters. I wish the Duffers were as insane writers as us.
conformitygate is real but not in the âsecret ninth episodeâ kinda way itâs just so incredibly meta that the duffer brothers who consistently claimed they were against conformity ended up being the exact ones who conformed along with the ga and theres only a few of us who actually understand that.
thatâs the real conformitygate. stranger things ended up being a lesson about a failed lesson.
episode 9 happened off screen btw
Can we just have a moment of appreciation for how perfectly conformitygate worked?
Because holy shit that was genuinely incredible. We managed to get so many people who hated us to (somewhat) join our side in hating that ending.
These were people who honestly wouldâve been fine with whatever slop the duffers churned out - either because they were going to glaze them no matter what, or because they didnât care enough about the show to see how badly it failed its own messages.
But then they saw how off the real finale felt when it was presented as a much better storyline. They believed the alternative theories. They liked them. They understood them. They wanted them to be true.
And you know why it worked? Because we showed them what we couldâve had. Not what we didnât like about the finale. We showed them how much potential this show had. We gave them a really cool concept! By not tearing down the finale and instead building it up as something better, we got even the duffer defenders on our side! They wanted so badly to believe that the duffers were pulling off one of the greatest television reveals in history.
And now the curtain has been pulled back. They see the duffers for all their constant flaws. They were right there with us, picking the finale apart, pointing out every plot hole and thematic failure - thinking it would lead to something better. Now they know it was just bad.
Now all theyâll see when watching this show again is how much that beautiful potential was wasted! No one who liked conformitygate as a theory can look at this show again and be happy with how it actually ended.
We got everyone to see how much better this show couldâve been. We got them to understand how we felt. We got massive amounts of this audience to turn on this show. We got us all on the same side - against the creators who failed us.
Whoâs noisy now?
I just realized that the upside down was SUPPOSED to be destroyed to the band The Butthole Surfers but Mike was basically FORCED to choose a different record.
Mike was forced to choose a different ending.
âI built the bomb I should be able to pick the recordâ his character basically decides how this whole world/story should come to an end but⌠his original idea for how it ended got switched.
Itâs still an ending Mike chose, but not the original ending.
Reminder that the very core of conformity gate is Mike Wheeler being a queer closeted man who chose conformity over being his true self, and now heâs seeing his life pass by with the consequences of that decision (except itâs all happening in his head where we, the audience, is trapped with him under Vecnaâs curse)
The gate doesnât WORK unless Mike is a closeted queer man.
It also doesnât work if Byler isnât canon.
Thatâs the gate.
Remember lab safety everyone đ
Some thought process under the cut!
I actually screamed
AND THEN THE WAY DANTE BASCO ACTUALLY FUCKING SHOWED UP oh my goodness I CANT with this show
Genuinely tweaking I canât stop thinking about a Tangled arcane jekko AU
Like jinx as rapunzel, Silco as Mother Gothel and ekko as Flynn Rider. The slow burn, the visuals, the characterizations UGH I WANT IT SO BAD
