Wandered around with a friend through patches of forest within Trout Lake, occasionally coming to a clearing offering stunning views of the mountain.

third photo- from the top of the sleeping beauty hike, there's this nice rock face, where I stopped for lunch. You can see Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Hood, and Mt. St. Helens- not a bad place to be at all.

Bird Creek Meadows

The focus of this hike was a viewpoint of the massive Mt. Adams (by volume it's the largest Cascade mountain in Washington), but something about this plant growing from a rock set in a stream fascinated me. We stopped and put our feet in that stream for maybe 5 minutes, and that plant always had my eye.

At the viewpoint, while I don't think I could properly capture the mountain's size or beauty, we again sat for a while. Listening to glacial waterfalls in the distance and otherwise only surrounded by that type of comforting silence found near the tops of mountains, it was one of those moments where you feel that every part of life is in place.
