I once imagined a crossover fanfic between Rise of the TMNT and TMNT 2012.
I never actually wrote it, since I’m not really a writer, nor do I have the motivation to keep up a good, continuous story. But I did imagine the beginning — literally, the first image that came to mind was Rise Raph being captured by the 2012 Kraang, and the 2012 boys finding him like that. (ˉ▽￣～)
Here’s how the beginning would go:
The 2012 Kraang were truly tired of the turtles constantly interfering with their plans to conquer/reform Earth. So, using their dimensional travel technology, they thought, “What could be better — and more humiliating — than having the turtles face and be defeated by stronger versions of themselves?”
They began searching across dimensions for a version of the turtles who were, in several ways, stronger than their own. They based their search on something the Kraang themselves didn’t fully understand — something mystical, related to “Ninpo,” that was far beyond anything their turtles could handle. They tried to capture and mind-control these alternate turtles to fight alongside them.
But things didn’t go as planned — and the only reason they succeeded at all was because of a self-sacrifice made by the eldest, most protective brother. That’s how they managed to capture Rise Raph.
They tried to control the big turtle using their technology, but something kept resisting them — something even the Kraang couldn’t figure out how to overcome. So, if they couldn’t use the turtle himself, they wanted what he possessed: that powerful energy known as “Ninpo,” which was far stronger than anything that existed in their own dimension or their turtles’.
They began experimenting on him, using him as a test subject to extract that energy.
After some time, the 2012 turtles learned that the Kraang had obtained something extremely powerful — something that could allow them to finally conquer Earth. As always, they set out to find out what it was and stop it.
A lot happens before they finally reach the place where the supposed “weapon” is kept — only to discover it’s actually a large turtle. At first, they’re confused, wondering if it’s some experiment or a biological weapon created by the Kraang, but eventually they realize it’s actually an alternate version of Raphael.
From there, I didn’t think much further. There are a lot of directions I like to imagine — like whether Rise Raph’s brothers are still in their own dimension trying to open a portal to rescue him, or if they were accidentally dragged into the 2012 dimension during the Kraang’s attack and got separated across different areas, needing to regroup and survive before finding their captured brother.
There are many interesting possibilities I’d love to read about — but I don’t really have the patience or motivation to write it myself. I mostly just drew something to record the idea… or something like that.
