fireflies are disappearing. fireflies are going disappearing bc our obsession with “perfect” lawns bereft of native flowers & full of pesticides that kill even the bugs we deem likeable, bc of urbanizations that destroys their homes, because of the light pollution that disrupts their mating habits & their communication.

it just makes me want to cry knowing how many species we’ve pushed out of their homes and towards extinction, and now one of our favorite childhood bugs might be next because ppl grew up to forget the magic of nature
