addy nods then her attention back on livia for a few moments. she never thought that she was any good with kids and yet clearly her niece was an exception given the way that she had started to calm down. she liked damian too, as much as she hadn’t wanted to at first. luckily he hasn’t held that fact against her. she as lucky really just how quickly the four robins had accepted, though maybe that was just because they were used to cleaning up bruce’s messes. “great because I’m really a terrible loser,”

“Most things are.” Dick says with a chuckle, but he’s not worried. It’s not like everyone figures that out right away - he certainly didn’t. It took Dick a lot of time and training to really be sure on the kind of hero he was going to be. Hopefully he can make it a little easier for Addy, though. “Gymnastics counts for a lot, and shooting will come in time.” He pulls a face at the thought of Addy using guns, but doesn’t push that for now. He might not like them and he’ll try and deter her from using them if he can, but.. ultimately it’s her choice. “When I started out I was an acrobat, we trained to adapt that to fighting and martial arts and it works pretty well for me. So if gymnastics is something you’re good at, we can start there.”

addy isn’t sure why she chose dick to go to, she could have easily gone to jay and asked him, she valued the two of them the same. maybe it was just do to dick’s optimism. the fact he was more likely to see this as a good thing. addy despite frequently telling herself that she has made the right decision clearly needed her reassurance. she nodded, trying not to memorise the look on her brother’s face. “i did some kickboxing too when i was a teenager,” back when she needed to let her frustrations out on something and her parents had been rather clear that it couldn’t be florian’s bullies. “but that was years ago now,” there was not even any way to prove that she was doing the right thing but she had to try. “right so starting with gymnastics what did that mean,”

“Saint Alfred? That might go to his head a bit,” Damian laughed, shaking his head slightly. He gave his sister a smile, “I played favorites for years, just ask Dick. I still play favorites, they just change from day to day depending on who’s the least annoying at the moment, it’s just part of having siblings.”

“maybe, but don’t you think he deserves it really,” she grinned. addy was glad she could at least talk to the other like this. it had taken time, it wasn’t easy to just suddenly have four more brother’s you’d never heard of before, but she at least liked to think she was getting used to it. “see i’ve only ever had one to deal with, at least before.” florian was her twin though so there was a special bond there the other’s wouldn’t come close to. she laughed then. “well i should hope i’m always near he top,”

marisol didn’t respond for a moment , addy wasn’t WRONG. the two of them never really did seem to get along , agree on anything or even volunteer to help each other out. “ thanks for the offer but it’s just easier for me. i won’t be able to find anything. “ she knew exactly where everything in her dorm was , even down to a single hair elastic.

“right. yeah. of course,” addy replied somewhat awkwardly. she had never really seen mari as disabled in that sense. at least not in the same way babs was. that sounded stupid, but she always seemed so capable. yeah she might have interacted with the world differently but from an outsider’s perspective it didn’t seem to take very much away from her. she could have her disagreements with her whilst also acknowledging the fact. not that it was her place to comment. she had that much self awareness. “listen i also wanted to ask,” better to be blunt. “how do you feel about decorating for christmas?”

“I still don’t know how he does it, especially considering he was putting up with father long before any of us came around,” he laughed. Damian sometimes wondered what it would have been like had Addy and Florian grew up with their family, if he would have been a good older brother for the two or not. The what-ifs didn’t really matter though, not when he could get close to them now. “Don’t forget spending time with your favorite big brother,” he teased, “i am your favorite, right?”

addy cringes then. she could barely handle bruce now, she really didn’t want to think about what he must have been like through his adolescent years. she suspected lonely, but the though goes unsaid. “there’s the true mystery right there, the man deserves a medal, or a sainthood,” she looks about then mischief clinging to her features. “what florian is here?” the giggle that tumbles from her lips is enough to give her joke away. “we both know that i’m not allowed favorites besides i really don’t want to upset dick and jay,”

“It doesn’t take too long for our family to become at least a little bit predictable,” Damian joked. Even now, looking at his sister brought back a wave of memories from the winter before he had died. He had all of these, albeit somewhat vague memories of himself at nearly thirteen, trying to be a good big brother to Addy and Florian, so seeing Addy with Livia was somewhat surreal. “As long as you don’t return her on a sugar rush, I’m sure we’ll be good. I can take you out to eat later if you want to repay you.”

“clearly, i don’t know how alfred has put up with you all for so long,” she joked. rocking livia gently in the hopes that it might bring her little niece some comfort. she knew of course that damian, jay, tim and dick all had memories of her when she was small, but luckily in her opinion she didn’t have the same connections. she had wondered sometimes if she had been older when bruce gave her up if she would have missed her brother’s the way she now missed her parents. “i won’t i promise,” she grinned “free food now i really going to have to take you up on that,”

Dick knows this family is a lot to deal with. Maybe not first hand, he’s been here the longest of course, but he understands how overwhelming it is. And he wanted Adella and her brother to feel welcome here, not overwhelmed. To be comfortable, to feel like they have a place here. So having Addy come to him for help, for advice, Dick is incredibly glad and relieved for it, and he’s ready to do anything he can. “It doesn’t sound hard, I know.” He says with a soft chuckle, watching his sister for a moment. “Okay, so.. I guess first I need to know what you can already do, what kind of training you’ve already done so I know where to start.”

it’s not the easiest decision to make, she had avoided everything about being a hero in her for so long. like somehow acknowledging it would be betray her parents. but she had to start putting this whole wreck behind her and she couldn’t go on feeling helpless anymore. she hadn’t even expressed how she was feeling to florian yet, it was all so fresh she just had to hope that he was going to do what he always did and stand by her side. “easier said than done huh,” she joked. before her brow creased with focus.“ballet and gymnastics has to count for something, jay started teaching me to shoot but I’m terrible,” it felt like she was grasping at straws.

“Me ignoring Tim is probably the most likely thing to happen, in any situation..” Damian laughed. Damian took Livia out of the ridiculous carrier and handed her over to his sister. “Are you sure you want to take her? I can try getting her to sleep again and keep her in here during my class.”

“yeah i had that figured out pretty quickly,” addy spoke with a laugh. it had taken her a long time to think she should really comment on her siblings but she was rather comfortable with it now. addy grins as she takes livia gently cooing at her niece. “we’ll be fine i promise, besides you look like you need the break,”

At the very least she seems friendly enough, and she certainly seemed to understand why Uriah is here. Of course, she couldn’t be here otherwise, right? And she’s certainly not wrong - even when they’re exhausted after a long shift at the hospital or another sleepless night, Uriah makes their way here, making the most of the space to lose themselves to something he loves.

“You can say that again.” They agree with a chuckle, stepping over to their bag to pack up their things. They can completely understand how she feels, and it’s nice to hear someone else say it. “It’s just.. nice, to have the space to use like this.” Paragon has a number of shortcomings, but this definitely helps make up for it.

dancing was the one time where addy could really at least fool herself into thinking that she had things under control, that there wasn’t anything wrong. that nothing else existed except her and the music. it was an addicting feeling really, and a terrible way to deal with her problems, but she’s been running to it since she was a child. it was finding people who really understood that was the hard part.

“yeah,” she agrees with a nod. “as studios go this is pretty nice,” her mother had always made sure she had had nothing but the best which meant now as an adult she had rather specific tastes. “though i do honestly the place in new york where i used to dance as a kid,”

Dick hasn’t really been sure how things would go with Addy when he first came back from Spyral. He couldn’t be sure whether she’d want a new big brother or if it would be too much for her, but he’s glad he tried. Because now, he gets to be there for his sister and Dick wouldn’t trade that for anything. “You want to become a hero.” Dick repeats, a smile spreading across his face immediately. It’s not an easy life to choose - but it’s always better if people do choose it, rather than being pulled into it. Dick had the freedom to make that choice and he wouldn’t give it up for anything. “Well - the obvious is to start with training, but that’s the physical. That’s easy, right? The important part is.. figuring out what kind of hero you want to be.”

being thrown into a new family had been hell for addy, a good part of her not needing or wanting such a thing. she had gone from her family being just florian to having so many siblings, niblings, nieces and nephews that it was overwhelming at points. enough to make her wish sometimes she had hesitated before doing the damn blood test. still now at least, she was beginning to feel like she was carving a place for herself in what was a crazy family in part because dick and jason had just refused to give up on her. she crosses her arms about her chest at dick’s reaction self consciously. “well i want to be the type of hero that stops bad things from happening to people that’s not that hard,” she spoke with a slight shrug. knowing that dick would claim there was more to it.

Damian nodded, listening to his sister. “I’ve tried everything I can think of. I keep wanting to call Dick or Jason, but I have to do this on my own eventually, so I tried to remember what Tim said about wrapping her in the carrier thing and I think I ignored half of what he said,” the man sighed. “I have a class to go teach, so if you’re free, it’d be great if you could take her..”

that was at least one thing they had in common, running to their older siblings when they had a problem. it was amusing really. addy scoffs then at the other’s words. “you ignoring things tim tells you, sounds unlikely,” still she holds out her arms for the small child anyway. she would be able for a little while no problem. “my pleasure, don’t worry i promise to return her in one piece,”

Dick’s always glad to see his other siblings, that’s absolutely no secret. So when he spots his sister approaching him he can’t help but smile, immediately turning his attention to Addy. Whether she’s just here to catch up or she needs something - Dick is more than happy to spend time with her either way. “Hey, Addy!” He greets her brightly, gesturing for her to take a seat at the table with him. “Fire away, I’m all ears. What’s going on?”

addy had been trusting dick with a lot lately, from the stress and the way she was just trying to deal with things on a daily basis to more pressing issues like her anxiety. it just felt right she would trust him with this. “i...” she speaks pausing trying to think of the best way to even make such a statement. she had had this big speech prepared and yet now she was stood in front of him it just didn’t seem to fit. “i want to become a hero i just don’t know where to start,”

someone just had to take one look at her to know that she disapproved of the other’s hesitancy to answer the question. “i swear I will confiscate all your computers if you don’t get some rest,” she was all about tough love even in moments like that.

amusement crosses the femme’s face as the other speaks. How the other could claim to know anything about her she was unsure. “What if I’m just an unlikeable person have you thought of that?” it wasn’t something that bothered her all that much.
