That was the same for him. Jin kept to himself, mostly. Why bother introducing oneself if one won’t see them, ever? Pointless. However, it would do good for any potential gossip, to try put a name to face.  

“Besides, don’t matter. I’d say they’ll know yer name soon ‘nough, but chances are, they’ll know mine instead.” WIth that, Jin let go of Koichi’s hand to quicken his pace, to head on ahead.

“Er, no...that ain’t it at all,” Jin grumbled, averting his gaze elsewhere. A few moments of silence before he spoke again, to try and explain. “I only called ya that ‘cause. Kid. Baby. My. My baby. Y’know?” He really wasn’t good with the whole emotions thing. But surely Shuichi would understand that. At least, what he was getting at. Hell, he called his daughter - from before she was born - Kyobaby. What’s the difference with Shuichi?

Jin blinked at the other before a smirk tugged at his lips. An alligator? Seemed like a fun person to have such an exotic pet. But to impress a girl? Nice. “Yeah? Guess a cat’s okay. Work yerself up from there.” Not a bad case at all, extremely minor. Though nothing could compare to catching a missing alligator. “So, ‘s yer case. Where ya suggest searchin’ fer first?” He was going to completely let the younger lead.

That always was the case, wasn’t it? Jin remembered Koichi never saying no. At least, to most things. A few times to some of his..habits. A small smile tugged at his lips at the thought, and he had half a mind to use that to his advantage.

The detective immediately laced their fingers together once his hand was taken. His feet moved as the smile faded, his eyes scanning their surroundings to make a mental note of where exactly the blond lived. Back home there was absolutely no problem as they practically were living together, but here. That wasn’t the case, unfortunately. 

“‘Ave ya met any o’ yer roommates?” Because Jin certainly hasn’t.

”Ummm, I found a case that we can work on together. I’m sorry it’s not the coolest case.” He did not know much about his father’s history. Just that he happened to also be involved with detectives. Shuichi was not even sure he liked being a detective or not, it was a fake talent after all and one he did not earn. 

However, it was all he could think of to do to spend time with the other man at the moment. Shuichi did not know if he lived to be a detective, but he definitely lived for the connections he had with others. He  fumbled through the papers held in his hands. Finally he took out a photograph of a dog and held it in the man’s face. 

”The… the case I got was this one. Basically this pet went missing and we have to find it. It’s kind of like the first case I ever worked.” Shuichi said as he smiled back fondly on a memory that he was not even sure was his.

It took a few moment’s for Jin to focus on the form of his youngest child when he realized Shuichi had spoken. He blinked slowly, a blank expression on his face. A case they could work on? Regardless of the contents, Jin was actually up for anything, long as there was quality - much needed - bonding time. 

“Yer first case, huh?” That was kind of cute, actually. Instinctively a hand reached out to pet his child’s head, almost like one would to an animal. The case itself wasn’t what the elder was use to, but of course he’d tag along. Anything for his kid. “‘S always nice to start off with, findin’ pets, I mean. Happens too frequent..” Jin was slightly jealous. Pets were more..easy to find, unlike missing people.

“Ya still wanna show off, babe?”

Jin absolutely loved it One of the only close contact he’ll allow and besides, Koichi can survive lending out that blessed heat, if only for a while. “I didn’t think ya would,” he started before he purred quietly, nudging into the hand in his hair. 

“Lead the way. I dunno where ya live anymore...”

This way, he won’t lose sight of the blond. Or rather, vice versa.

A smile curled at his lips at the kiss, tilting his own head as to brush  his mouth against the blond’s in a gentle, quick kiss. Jin didn’t bother moving from the embrace just yet, loving the warmth his best friend held. Always leeching up Koichi’s never ending supply of body heat.

“Can go to a library, or even yer place. Anywhere comfortable..”

However, a more preferable place would be somewhere with bedding, Or at least a blanket. He was feeling quite affectionate today..

Arson may have been illegal, but nothing would stop him from burning something. However, as the island had a complete different set of rules, he didn’t partake in any of his desires. Primarily as Jin didn’t have a lighter, but the flickering light of the flame helped mentally at times. It was a win win for him, either way.

Violet hues eyed the LEd light, the detective’s mind going momentarily blank until the woman spoke again. It was a mild surprise when the other hane the object over; trust a wild thing an Jin wasn’t one to trust easily. Though he’ll keep this in mind, for later.

“They ‘aven’t yet, I doubt they will now,” he muttered in response as he caught the zippo. Admiring the outside briefly, he opened the lighter and watched the flame.

“...Did ya want this back?”

After searching his pockets, he came up empty of a lighter. Not because he wanted to smoke a cigarette, which he had one early so faint traces of smoke lingered on his clothes - he did change his jacket for a an unbuttoned shirt. But he wanted one for other reasons and he didn’t want to trek all the way back to his room, but he also hated asking. So he asked the first person he saw, after he spaced off.

“Ya got a spare light I could use?”

The detective gave a low hum at the sight of those brilliant red hues. His own lingered on the girl’s face before glancing away to focus on nothing in particular. Naturally he noticed someone being watched though it took him longer than it should have. Seems the knowledge was already known. It didn’t surprise him, considering who it was. Celestia, that was her name, right? Probably, as Jin didn’t really remember names much, nor did they interact back home.

“That guy over there,” he voiced quietly with a small tilt of his head, violet orbs focusing on someone nearby. Not quite suspicious, but enough to draw attention. “Don’t think ‘s particularly dangerous, though..if I remember right, ya don’t mind that, do ya?”

“Ya don’t care?” It shouldn’t surprise him. He figured Shuichi out mostly already, but there were still some things he wasn’t too sure about. Like why Shu was so..forgiving. That was the word, wasn’t it? Or perhaps it was even some other word he couldn’t think of at the moment. Nothing important. “Though I wanna know why yer so..open. Did yer uncle not love you?”   Bad phrasing on his part, surely, but it was the only thing he could think of. 

At the invite, Jin gave a small nod. A smirk found its way onto his face at the mere thought of someone showing off. It may not be him, but he wasn’t going to deny the appeal. Besides, it would better give an idea just how good the younger detective was. “Yeah, sure. I wouldn’t mind goin’ with.” It was something to do, at least. More bonding time, perhaps. “Though I s’pose I’d got to let ya take the wheel completely, huh?”

Not that he minds as much despite wanting to be a show off himself, but he deemed it important for Shuichi to do so himself. It’s what he wanted, wasn’t it? It’ll be hard, but it’s possible for him to hold some restraint.

Jin let out a soft sigh upon noticing the droop of the younger detective’s ahoge. He wasn’t sure how to feel about his child yet, considering this was the first time meeting, but he knew for a fact he didn’t care what the other thought of himself as. A child was still a child, regardless of one’s actions or thoughts. 

Carefully he petted Shuichi’s head again then cupped his face. Suddenly Jin felt a bit awkward with how much touching he’s done in so little time, but he only meant to be reassuring. Something he never really cared to do before. “Listen, I..I don’t care if yer a disappointment or not. Yer my kid, nothin’s gonna change that, I..” He fell silent, and puffed his cheeks out a bit. Quickly he brought his hands back to his sides before digging for his phone again. Something to distract himself with.

“Doesn’t matter. Gimme yer number so we can contact each other whenever. As fer fun..my kind probably ain’t allowed ‘ere but we can find somethin’. There’s a lot to do, I think..”

It was considered good to know one’s own flaws but could it be counted as such? Jin slowly shook his head. “That could be good, too. Many people play ignorant of themselves.

Words were one way to get somewhere. Personally Jin chose actions as he preferred them better than words. One had to think of words to say half the time and he didn’t have the mentality for it. Like with Koichi, most their interactions were primarily touching - though the blond spoke more.

The detective slowly nodded in reply. It wasn’t that hard to figure out one can simply talk. Though it would be difficult at times, knowing what to say is hard. But the words Shuichi spoke didn’t make much sense to Jin at all. A frown tugged at his lips and he reached out to simply pat the younger’s head, again.

“No...” What could he say now? What surprised him more currently was he was more worried of doing or saying the wrong thing. Not even with Kyoko did he have this much problem. “Y’know, ‘s better to get good connections, fer the future.” A vague sentence but advice all the same. Luckily for him, his mother  was such a connection he never had to try hard for.

“Or you’ll fuck yerself over. Try an’ avoid that. ‘S real shitty.”
