The most panic Holly has ever felt in her life had not even come close to this. At least her grandmother was the devil she knew. She knew what her intentions were, what she was going to do in the end. Even if it came with closed fist. But him ?? This man, if he can even be called that ?? His intentions are severely unclear, aside from the obvious needing to feed. The thought terrifies her. She knows what he is, but the thought of him turning her and she live forever truly terrifies her. Holly was not even a survivor. She just survived by some dumb luck, how is she expected to live that long ??
Tears stain the rouge on her cheeks that she so delicately swept on that morning, streaking the powdered makeup. Cornered and scared, she had intended on going out at least with a fight, but fear paralyzes her. There's not much else she can do aside from cry. But oh does she looks so sweet, tear stained and trembling like a leaf on a tree.
Hands press to his chest as he leans in, an attempt to push him away- even if she were not scared, she lacks any strength it would take to force him away.

the quickened thrum of her blood coursing through her veins calls to him. sings its own enthralling song not dissimilar to sammie’s song that called him here originally. another song of the living, just as unique as their voices, the stories they carry with them from those who came before. all things out of his grasp because of his nature, some he stands to gain as long as he can bring sammie to his side. he wants to see again, only sammie can give him that.
he looks at the woman before him, but all he sees is a glimpse of the past. it is another woman before him, another woman’s hands on his chest, a woman he’d once loved above all else. the glimpse is fleeting; it’s not her, no matter how much he wishes it were. it's a jarring thought, a feeling he thought he'd long ago buried with how much time was between now and when he lost her. he has so little of his past, of the life he so desperately wants to cling to and give to himself in any way he can. sammie is his key to seeing again, the woman in front of him can be the key to having her again, even if none of it is real.
"sh sh sh," he hushes her softly, one bloodied hand sliding up along her arm to hold the nape of her neck. nothing about him is comforting, soothing to the soul, and he doesn't intend to be, despite how he hushes and coos at her. she's still the little rabbit caught in his snare, the sheep that knows there's no escaping the wolf that chases it. she is his, just as the rest of them will be. "it'll all be over soon. won't feel a thing, i promise." it's a lie, but what good does it do to startle her further? though he must admit, he loves the smell of her fear, but he'll refrain. for now.

There was a heavy feeling of confliction lingering inside of him. Did he allow her to come with him even though he knew how dangerous it might be? He knew that being on his own had never been something that he had wanted but he also knew that putting her in danger was one thing that he would never do. Rand knew that she was persistent and caring but he also knew that she would get into trouble if it meant protecting him. He let out a shaky breath and then gently took hold of her hands in his. "Egwene…" he softly breathed out, looking between her dark eyes. "…I can't ask you to do that. Do you understand how terrible things are going to be if we go off on our own? Knowing what I am?"
"then do not ask me to do it," she answered quietly, holding tightly to his hands. she would not make him ask something of her, especially not when she knew that she would follow him anywhere, no matter the danger, she would be there. "you do not need to ask anything of me because i want to come with you, rand. i can't let you go off alone, knowing something might happen to you." determination shines in her eyes alongside the pain and sadness that resides in them at the thought of losing him, of never seeing him again if she stayed behind while he went off alone. how could she live with herself if she simply watched him go? it is rare that they ever rest for long, and that whatever rest offered to them is peaceful. usually, there is some kind of fight, whether between themselves and the danes or inner fighting between one another. it is always playful, never something real meant to hurt one another, but it interrupts the peace of their camp nonetheless. osferth usually does not miss the quietness, the solitude of the church, but sometimes he does at camp when all he hears is the clashing of practice fighting and the jests between uhtred and finan or sihtric.
"it's almost too quiet," osferth answers, tilting his head back to bask further in the sun. the main part of their camp is not far from where they sit in the grassy field, osferth can hear the boisterous laughter from their companions. none of those sounds, the cheer of their found family can compare to the feeling of being near holly, of spending time with her like this. he looks over at her with a smile, moving a few inches closer to her before settling back out on the grass.
