Okay so for what it’s worth

Neil Gaiman has said that season 2 is not the story he and Terry had plotted out 20 years ago, season 2 is the bridge that needed to be there to fill in the gaps between season 1 and season 3

So in other words. Season 2 is a bridge season. Season 3 is the season with actual meat in it

Hypothetically Close

I was never that close to people that were close

I fell in love only with words and ideas I could not touch

I stared out at sunsets I wished they could see

I mourned ocean waves that were made better with their words

I spent nights in my bed, clung to hypotheticals

(what their skin felt like, where that extra freckle was, how gentle they could be with me)

that lulled me to sleep as I wished for them to become my lucid dreams

And then

Between silences no one else could hear

And dates more distant by days

The hope I clung to in hypotheticals dissipated from my hands like a million pixelated butterflies flying away to end

Endings were but closing paragraphs I have the honor or perhaps curse of reading and pondering over whenever I want

The choice to forget rests in my hands instead of time's and it is a power I question wielding

In the same way I question spending my teenhood close to those who were not close

And distant from the ones who would never quite know why I clung to hypotheticals so dearly
