where: medical office open to all Ramses stood in front of the book case in the medical office. Eyes scanning the rows of books there. One in particular seems to be missing and a frown etches deep onto his forehead. He could have sworn he saw it yesterday before he left, strange. It wasn’t as if books from their collection here didn’t go missing for one reason or the other, however this book was one of his grandfather’s old medical books he had given Ramses years ago. A a book worm; reading from the old pages had become a bit of a past time as the evening winded down. There were few emergency to be had in the castle from some minor cut and burns. Lips pressed he decided he’ll check his room when the door to the office opens; he looks back eyeing them for a moment before turning back towards the shelving of books.
“ If this isn’t a medical emergency then you really shouldn’t be here.
Blueberries, how she loved them. If only they loved her back. Instead of loving her, they gave new meaning to an agonizing death. Her averse to the blue fruit was exposed when a young Josie slipped into the kitchen searching for a snack. The berries sat on the counter, and Josie helped herself to them. It only took five berries before the Welsh Princess started to have trouble breathing. Thankfully, just as she fell to the floor, one of the kitchen help walked in to find her. Ever since that day, Josie has had to carry an EpiPen with her at all times, for there was no telling when a mistake might happen. Such as the error made almost 30 minutes ago. Josie still does not know what she ate that had blueberries in it, but whatever it was, caused a reaction and she had to use her EpiPen. And this is what lead to her entering the doctor's office in search of a new EpiPen.
"Would the fact that I had to use my EpiPen and now I need a new one to be seen as an emergency? I mean, if you're busy, I can take the EpiPen and leave," she answered. She should probably also get a check-up to make sure there are no lingering effects from the anaphylactic shock. Josie found one probably with that; the doctor would want to check her weight. There's no telling how that would go over.

These days, it was pretty rare for Ethan to have an entire day off. Since he arrived in Russia, he worked tirelessly to make up for the fact that he left his ailing mother back in England. It hurt that he couldn’t be with her - especially now that it seems like she is getting worse each day - but he was the only person in his house bringing in money. He had to keep working for his family’s sake.
Except for today. For the first time in months, Ethan had the entire day to himself. He slept in, surfacing from his room - far past noon. Then made his way to his isolated spot on the back end of the castle. So far - he had been able to get away with sitting outside on the roof and smoking without getting caught by a royal or his boss. That was - unfortunately - till now. Ethan pulled out his hand-rolled joints - always preferring the home-grown approach to getting high - and lit one up. He got in a few drags before hearing the window open behind him.
It was pretty obvious what he was doing up here. The smell giving it away. But Ethan still tried to hide the cloud of smoke. Waving his hand in front of him. “It’s not what it looks like!”
The nagging and questions never seemed to stop. All this, thanks to the fact her country resided and shared borders with England. Then there were those that knew her family was related to the King of England. If this is even half of how Mia and Thomas felt, Josie felt for them even more. Having lost all her hiding places, the Welsh Princess went in search of a new one. The roof had not been her first pick, but it seemed to be the only location where no one was. Or so she thought until she caught the smell of smoke came to her nose. "Then it must be what it smells like," she remarked, making her way over to where Ethan. "Mind if I join you? I won't tell on you if you do," she told him, teasing with him of course.

Emilia had stayed mostly quiet in the wake of the rumors of England and Egypt having some sort of issues. Word had gotten to her and Thomas about Egypt heightening tensions over trade prices and she was, quite frankly, unsure of how to handle all of it. When political tensions would rise, she’d listen to her father and parliament discuss them at length as they navigated through the issues. But while she’d listen, her opinions were never asked for. And that was fine as, after all, she wasn’t queen. Not yet, anyway. Figuring out how to handle political tensions with their allies was something she could learn down the line, right?
But here, in Russia, where she was closely surrounded by her allies, it felt different. Like she was supposed to speak up or as though these rumors could fracture friendships she had already made, even if it wasn’t England’s fault.
She was sitting outside in the gardens, sketching in a book, when a shadow crossed her path.
“If you’re here to ask me about England and Egypt, don’t, because I don’t want to answer.
Josie may not involve herself physically or vocally when it came to political issues; it did not mean she had no clue what had been going on. For days now, the main topic for anyone had to due with the quarrel between England and Egypt. This dispute put a Josie in a precarious predicament because there was no way she wanted, nor could she choose to side with one country. She liked the idea of being Switzerland. At least until she gains more information as to what all went down between England and Egypt. Since that could not happen since she and everyone else found themselves stuck in Russia. Not seeing any other option left for her, Josie knew just what she needed to do; support her family and friends. First of those would be Mia.
It took her a while to find Mia. Having looked first in the British Princess's quarters and then in every room, Josie could think of that Mia might be. It turned out it would be the last place Josie looked that she found Mia. If she had thought about it a bit more, the garden would have made perfect sense for the gardens to be the place to find Mia. It was quiet, and it had great views when it comes to one wanting to draw. Making her way over to her cousin, she went to speak but found her words cut off before one even left her mouth. She could not help laughing at Mia's words. "It's a good thing that's not why I'm here. I thought you would be open to sharing this with me," she responded as she held up a bottle of Gran Patron Burdeos Anejo Tequila. "I also brought cheese, meat, and crackers. I know those go best with wine; however, I figured the hard stuff made more sense."

Josie did not expect to wait long for Sarika to respond to her words. They were harsh and berate, no matter how you looked at them. Words that should never have been spoken and would never have been if Josie did not feel pushed. Since her arrival in Russia, all of Josie’s buttons seemed to get smashed multiple times. That at this point, Josie could not hold her outrage. “If that is how you want to see it. Did you ever think that maybe it’s the words you use when talking to others? And yet you keep trying to get me to open up to you. You could be a friend without sticking your nose into my business. Do you give all your friends ultimatums such as this? The friendship must go according to how Sarika wants it, or the person is no longer your friend.” The words left a bitter taste on her tongue. While Josie did not know where their friendship stood, she would never stoop so low as to call an end to their friendship so fast. “Sure, while it might be so clear to you, but why don’t you tell me where I stand since it’s not clear to me at all? There you go again, questioning our friendship all because it is not going your way.” Josie knew her words would sting, and any other time she would have cared but not today. Today she wanted Sarika to feel the burn she felt nearly every day. “Then you should not be surprised when your truths get thrown back in your face. You can’t expect to speak the truth and not get it back,” the Welsh Princess snapped. Josie tried to hide her pain over Alistair; however, she knew no matter what she did, it would always be written all over her face.
“So you get to grieve in peace, while the rest of us should be fully open to you about our grief? That does not seem quite fair.” Josie knew Sarika had a point with her words. The pain of losing someone forever would never be the same as the end of a relationship. Could Josie even call what she had with Alistair, a relationship? Sure they were betrothal; however, never stopped Alistair from being with other women the whole time their betrothal existed. It never stopped him from ignoring her up until the last year. None of that would lead anyone to say they were in a relationship, and yet that did not stop Josie from loving him. From wishing, he would see her the way she saw him, and when he ended their betrothal, it felt as if everything she had been hoping for perished. “You know nothing. You keep telling yourself that. Just keep justifying that your grieve is more important than everyone else’s. You’re not the only one who lost Tristan. You’re not the only who’s whole world collapsed that day.” The emotion in Sarika’s voice did not go unnoticed by Josie. For almost a minute, Josie thought about biting her tongue, forgetting everything that they said between them, and walk away. If only she could do that. The pain from Sarika’s words was too fresh in the air for Josie to walk away now. No, she would not be the bigger person this time around. “Well, I do not need you to focus on my pain. I do not need your help in dealing with my pain. I have been doing just fine on my own when it comes to my pain for years. I’m used to it, so please stop,” she told the Hungarian, before making her way over to the stack of towels left for people to use. “Does not mean I have to play into it,” she added, drying her face off.
“What friendship?” The words were yelled out, echoing in the room. She’d had enough of Josie trying to pretend that she was still being her friend and turning everything around on Sarika. The other girl was not innocent in any of this and yet she wanted to accuse the Hungarian of being the one who ended their relationship. She pulled herself from the pool, walking over to grab a towel so she could dry off, before she even considered speaking again. “As far as I’m concerned you’re the one who ended this. It wasn’t some rash decision I just made because you didn’t want to spill a secret. This has been dying since the day I stepped down from my crown and you know it. Yes, I avoided you first because I was hurting and I didn’t know how to deal with it.” She still didn’t but that was beside the point. “And I can admit that. I started this. But you don’t have the guts to admit that you’re avoiding me because of a decision I made about my life. Just like Mateo, just like Lena, just like everybody. But I’m not you, Josie. I won’t sit around like a log while people are hurting and not offer to talk to them about it. And I will no longer chase after someone who obviously does not want me around anymore. So don’t put all of this on me like I just decided that I’m through with you because of one conversation. Not when you would turn around and avoid me like the plague ever since I got here.” She rolled her eyes at her former friend, her head shaking softly. “I never said I didn’t expect that. I’m fully aware I have flaws that people will point out. I’m selfish and petulant and I don’t trust easily. I know all of this. The difference is I can admit to my wrongdoings, can you?
Blue eyes narrowed in Josie’s direction and she took a step toward the girl, her anger really started to flare. “The fact that you would even try to compare our two losses as if they’re the same means you don’t get it. Your betrothal broke, Josie, get over it. Grief shouldn’t even be in your vocabulary. You’re right though. I’m not the only one who lost him. Alistair lost him, Beric lost him, his whole family lost him. But you? You’re not even close to the same category as us. You’re just someone trying to use his death to make people feel sorry for you because you lost a damn future husband that barely knew you were alive.” Her words were cruel. She was well aware of that but she had become enraged after Josie had tried to downplay Sarika’s pain. The girl didn’t know what this felt like, she never could, and the fact that she was trying to make it sound like she shared in Sarika’s pain was what broke her resolve to stay calm. “I don’t know anything? You’re the one assuming things without knowing who I’ve talked to. I’m fully aware of other people being in pain but you have no right to think that way of me just because I’m not pitying you and your fucking betrothal. Your whole world…” She seemed to spit the words out like they disgusted her, which they did. “Be on your own then. See if I care anymore.”
She took the moment to walk away because if she didn’t she was sure that she would end up hitting Josie square in the jaw. Wrapping the towel around her as she went, Sarika kept thinking about just turning around and pushing her into the pool again, hitting her, something to help reduce the rage that had filled her. “Screw you!” The words lingered behind her while the Hungarian fled the room, sure that they had rung out through the hallway as well. People probably heard their shouting match and she didn’t care. They were both taking out their pain on each other at this point but Sarika couldn’t see them returning to anything that resembled a friendship.
END.
