Fork In The Crossorads is exactly that, a split in an already split path. Given the amount of AU's I tend to cook up, some of which branch off of each other, it seems to fit.

Me finally being in the headspace to revisit my Occulomata!KARR x Garthe fic outline and finding that probably, most likely, that man needs to be completely broken in half in order to put his ego aside to consider something other than his revenge plot.
Buckle up and take a ride into the retro world of 'Knight Rider'! Will you channel your inner Michael Knight, or are you more of a sinister Garth Knight? Find out who you really are in this nostalgia-fueled quiz!
Best part about writing Occulomata!KRO and Martin is that TKR is such a niche show and bordering lost media that absolutely no one will know what the fuck I'm on about. Sort of like shipping Dark Judges.
Occulomata!KRO using his programming to find weaknesses during intimacy with Martin.
Over their three years spent working together, living together, KRO has learned Martin inside and out, obsessed over him. He's seen Martin in the arms of others, sometimes women, sometimes men. In his processors he inserts himself into their place, his hands on Martin's body, lips against his; Martin's form arching into him with pleasure. It made him ache, wanting to be those partners so badly, to be the only one Martin would ever need. Although as a vehicle his ability to interact physically with his pilot was limited, as an Occulomata he finally has the vessel to express intentions he never could while housed in the ferrari.
He knows exactly every place on Martin's form that makes him weak. His lips seek out the most sensitive points on his body, fingers caress and tease them until Martin is flushed and arching beneath him. But it's not enough for him, after so long of watching Martin in the arms of others he needs to claim him for himself - ensure no one else could ever have him, that no one could ever compare to how Martin felt when he was with KRO.
Every gasp and moan would be his to ensnare and to keep. He would savor every arch and writhe of his form, the taste of his skin against his tongue. He would devour Martin, keep him all to himself; his human, his pet, his world.
Fucked up little idea about Martin playing with Occulomata!KRO's jealousy streak, turning it into a game between the two of them.
Under a cut since it got long.
Martin steps into a club or bar, eyes scanning the room not for potential threats, but potential victims. They're easy to find, the spark of interest that ignites in their eyes when they meet his draws him to his target. They talk and he charms them, they share a drink or two, inevitably they leave the venue together, spirits high and on their way to a nearby hotel to explore what appears to be a mutual interest further.
Once the door closes behind them they kiss, their hands roam over each other, slipping under clothing, picking at buttons and zips. but then... Martin pauses. His phone rings, and something about the phone number makes his eyes grow wide, his throat dry. He excuses himself to the bathroom, saying he needed to take the call and would be back in a moment. They sigh, teased and remiss as they sit back on the bed and wait. They can hear the conversation behind the door, muffled, but strained. Yet, Martin's guest can also hear something else above the chatter.
A low growl purrs beyond the door leading out of the room. They peer towards the door in confusion - perhaps it is someone's dog that had gotten loose? But that rumble swells again, rattles the door in its frame, sends a shiver through their bones and puts ice through their heart. The door knob twists, rattles as if someone is trying to open it, the partner freezes, looking between the door and the bathroom, the water for the shower is on now, steam is curling from beneath the door. They call out to Martin, try to alert him to what is going on, but there is no response.
The activity at the door dies down, as does the threatening thunder roiling just beyond the flimsy wood. There is only the drone of the shower and hammering of their pulse against their ears. They lay back against the bed as the minutes wear on, trying to figure out what it could have been... And then they feel a pressure against their chest, they sink into the think hotel blankets, the mattress creaks as they're forcefully pressed down, the weight on their chest is too much for them to breathe, much less scream.
Did Martin slip something into their drink? Had they been drugged? The truth is so much worse as the air before them ripples and warps, reality itself seems to peel away to reveal glossy black plating that shimmers like spilled oil. The form they cover is sleek, powerful, reminiscent of some strange, monstrous mix of insect and big cat, yet there is a human quality to its face that this hapless victim cannot shake. An array of eyes glow the most mesmerizing hue of purple they have ever seen, meeting their eyes, looking through them. Looking back into the gaze of this creature that both entrances and strains their own eyes to the point of pain, they come to a realization.
Every eye upon them is glaring down in disgust. Those eyes judge every inch of the form pinned beneath this entity, and find them unworthy. Suddenly they feel so small, so insignificant, an intruder.
"This is what has come to share my beloved's bed?" A snort sends hot air rolling into the face of the entity's prey. "You are unfit for such a task, unworthy. This must be remedied."
The entity's jaws yawn wide and fall upon them like lightning, darkness envelopes their victim with it.
Meanwhile, Martin is still in the shower, taking his time scrubbing off the atmosphere of the bar, the lingering sensation of his follower from the bar on his body. When he emerges from the bathroom, towel wrapped around his waist, he's met with red.
Red staining the bed, the floor, the walls. His eyebrows raise, a sharp gasp escapes him but it all is too rehearsed to feel real. In the center of the carnage is that shimmering black entity, covered in eyes of deep purple. Those numerous eyes weigh upon them, their gaze intense and intentful. The entity's bloodied lips part, a silvery tongue sweeping over its lips, lapping of the remnants of it's slaughter.
"Martin," He purrs in a mock scolding, "Don't tell me you have forgotten who you belong to, who completes you." The entity's lips spread in a grin, metallic teeth bared; a greeting, a welcome, a warning.
"Oh, darling, we weren't going to do anything." Martin tries to defuse as the entity stalks closer to him, closing the distance until his bloodied claws are upon him, grasping his shoulders, leaning in to deeply breathe the scent of his freshly washed hair.
"But you were. I could smell you on them, their smell is on your breath, I can detect enough alcohol and arousal chemicals in your system I can nearly taste it." He rumbles into his ear, "You can't wash away all the evidence."
"F-forgive me," Martin stammers, more out of the thrill of feeling the entity's hot breath against the nape of his neck than true fear, "I didn't think it would get this far. I just wanted a little fun on the town, have a drink or two, flirt, taking them here was not part of the plan."
The royal hue of the entity's eyes intensifies as his gaze narrows down at him, and Martin can tell he can see through his ribs to watch his heart fluttering - judging him, debating whether to tear that muscle from his breast and devour it, or grant him mercy.
"KRO, please, you know you're my other half-" He's silenced with the press of a single bloodied claw against his lips, bleeding through them to stain his tongue with it's metallic flavor.
"Sssh, I know you did not mean to hurt me, but... Their hands were still on you. You let them touch you. I cannot let that slide without consequence." The claw is removed from Martin's lips, KRO's hand coming to grasp his chin, tilt his head upwards to look at him, "I'm going to remind you who you belong to, and wipe away every trace of that whore from you."

Figured out why trying to find Martin Jantzen's actor was impossible, evidently he was played by William Bumiller which was interesting since that means the credits guy got Martin Jantzen's actor mixed up with James Marlin's actor. Even on imdb he's credited as playing James Marlin instead of Martin Jantzen but
That's him.
On the plus side at least I can see some stuff with him in it that's higher resolution so I can figure out what Martin looks like without the CRT crunchiness.

POV fic where Occulomata!KARR seduces the reader to join his polycule, and the resulting drama that unfolds between the reader and Garthe from his paranoia about being abandoned and replaced.
POV fic where the reader runs into Martin Jantzen while he's on the run from FLAG with Occulomata!KRO, but the reader is unaware of Occulomata!KRO's existence. Meanwhile Occulomata!KRO is watching the reader like a hawk and plotting to get rid of them like the yandere machine they are but their attempts to kill the reader manage to always be thwarted by some ridiculous act of god.
I feel like if TKR actually made it to a second season there would have been an insane deus-ex machina plot loophole to bring KRO and Martin back so there could be an interesting Garthe-esque villain and evil AI for their own show.
Or alternatively someone manages to get KRO out of that block of steel and get him working again only to find he's gone completely off the deep end with grief and rage because Marlin killed his husband.
If I could actually tolerate the main cast I would not mind seeing either plot point.
I feel like that "lightning in a bottle" comment from Martin regarding trying to replicate the success of Michael Knight and KITT was more a commentary from one of the writer's projecting their feelings about the show into the dialogue.
Given the bad writing I figure that was the feeling of a lot of the people working on this show.
I love how consistent knight industries is with it's fuckups with highly dangerous machinery.
"Our prototype vehicle is going into storage for being too dangerous, nah we don't have to worry about disarming it, siphoning the fuel out, or removing the battery. It'll be fine."
Fifteen years later:
"Our replacement vehicle for KITT went rogue and needs to be reprogrammed before being considered safe to use again. Let's put it on a plane without removing the fuel, disarming/removing its weapon systems, or removing the battery. It's not like this lead to anything bad happening before!"
Me watching TKR: A-list and getting to the part with the psychotic BMW chicken scene: Why are they playing dramatic music over this? All I see is typical freeway beamer driver behavior.
Looking at this screencap while trying to get any morsel of information for a KRO/Martin fic and just sort of thinking about it.
Partially I wonder if he got too confident in his abilities while working spec-ops for the US government, or felt like he wasn't able to do enough, and that's why he joined FLAG and was paired with KRO. Or maybe he got the Michael Knight treatment and got pulled into the whole situation on the brink of death.
At the same time, I feel like with FLAG, when James said that Martin was driven crazy by his vehicle, though the KRO was programmed to compliment Martin's personality, all I could think of is that when it comes to that line of work probably some level of instability is expected.
All they have to do is look back on all the crazy shit Michael did and get an idea as to what they were looking for when they picked Martin to join their team.
Thinking about Occulomata!KARR and Occulomata!KRO meeting and it becomes this mexican standoff love triangle.
Garthe thinks Occulomata!KARR will try and take Martin as another human pet, meanwhile Occulomata!KARR is actually sizing up Occulomata!KRO as an additional partner.
Martin is glaring down Occulomata!KARR, thinking about going full yandere if he even tries to take KRO from him. He's not even thinking about Garthe, he's a non-threat.
Occulomata!KRO during all this is aware Occulomata!KARR is interested in him, but he's too invested in Martin to consider a second partner.
Occulomata!KARR quickly figures out that the way to Occulomata!KRO is through Martin, he treats him well - after all he has no reason to hold the man in contempt, Martin never did anything to him and frankly Martin and Occulomata!KRO remind him of his own first steps into the world. They too were screwed over by FLAG and Knight Industries and were forced to be on the run.
Martin and Occulomata!KRO are given their own accommodations, Occulomata!KARR gets to know Martin a little, talks to him, spends time with him. In the background Occulomata!KRO can see what Occulomata!KARR is doing, getting closer to his partner, and he cannot help the jealousy that wells up within him. Even if he knows Martin would never abandon him, that their bond is unbreakable, there is something in him that twists ever so sharply at the sight of another being with him. At first Occulomata!KRO thinks Occulomata!KARR is trying to take Martin from him, until Occulomata!KARR tells him that Occulomata!KRO is actually the one he would like to have. He had been hoping that perhaps Occulomata!KRO would notice him if he spent time with Martin, since usually Occulomata!KRO is so obsessed with his partner it makes it difficult to find an opportunity for them to talk.
Occulomata!KRO's thoughts freeze - he's never had anyone other than Martin express interest in him, aside from perhaps admiring comments or roving glances from passers-by over his form when he had still been housed in the ferrari. Occulomata!KARR takes the opportunity to take the lead, he finds Occulomata!KRO to be capable, perhaps kin in their shared experiences at the abusive hand of Knight Industries. It's rare to find another he could relate to that is truly like him, another eldritch machine that could understand him. Occulomata!KRO is hesitant to reciprocate Occulomata!KARR's interest, but at the same time all he has known since breaking Martin out of prison has been being on the run. It's refreshing to find another in the world aside from Martin that he could call a friend.
Occulomata!KARR is careful to keep Martin on board, even though the man is a fraction of his size he knows that he is Occulomata!KRO's most prized possession, and losing his approval would certainly mean losing Occulomata!KRO as well.
