writers (and yes, fanfiction writers too) are so cool, they’re out there creating stories and entire fictional universes from nothing but their limitless imagination and they somehow manage to make people feel things, make them laugh and cry (and scream) at words on paper.
they entertain, teach, raise awareness and a lot of the time, make people feel a little less lonely, a little more heard. and all of this by rearranging letters into words and words into sentences!
Write for yourself. I think sometimes we forget why we started writing our projects and it was because of an idea that came to us for us. When we start sharing it with the public, we might start anticipating for that feedback whether is likes/kudos, comments, follows, people sharing it with others, etc.
And yes, that feedback is so important because it motivates us to continue writing. We have an audience that looks forward to. It is so valid to continue writing because of one person or a group of people who are hyping your fic. But you can’t forget to who you wrote it first and that was you.
Because sometimes people can momentarily stop reading or indefinitely. Anything can happen. Whatever the reason is, you can’t stop writing your wip. This is your project. Start it and finish it for yourself.

You were sitting on your bed, legs crisscrossed, as you watched your husband get dressed. He hadn’t done his hair yet, so with each movement it swayed slightly. You loved your husband's hair; it was so soft and smooth. You have expressed your admiration for it many times. You were surprised he didn’t get more compliments on it—it was probably some of the best hair you’d ever seen in your whole life.
“Zukoooo,” you called out, his name leaving your lips like a melody.
His eyes didn’t turn to you—he was still putting on his formal Fire Lord clothing—but he hummed to let you know he was listening.
“You should let me do your hair.”
He was now trying even harder not to look at you. It was obvious, even from where you were sitting, that his face had just turned really red.
“That’s—there’s no need. I can do it myself, dear,” he tried to brush you off. Honestly, he just didn’t think he could handle it.
“No, I insist.” You weren’t going to give up so easily. You wanted this—needed this. “Just once? Pleaseee!” you practically begged, looking at him eagerly.
Zuko couldn’t say no to you for long. He finally looked up at you, his face as red as the flames he produced.
“Okay, fine.”
You smiled brightly and patted the spot on the bed in front of you.
Zuko scoffed but gathered the supplies anyway and walked over to you, setting everything down beside you before sitting where you had told him to.
“Thank you!” you replied cheerfully. You had been waiting to do this longer than he could imagine.
You sat up on your knees to properly admire all the thick hair you were working with. Truthfully, you were jealous of your husband. Your hair had never looked this luxurious, but at the end of the day, it didn’t matter because technically it was your hair too. Your husband, no matter what he said, would ultimately let you do anything you wanted. He just couldn’t live with himself if he ever made you upset.
You grabbed the brush and slid it through each section, piece by piece. You took your time. You wanted it to be perfect. You wanted him to ask you to do it again.
But Zuko had already made up his mind the second your nails scratched against his scalp, causing a soft, content hum to escape his lips. He would let you do this all day if you wanted to.
He was obsessed with the way your fingers felt in his hair—how they gently brushed against the nape of his neck when you gathered all his hair into one hand, how focused you seemed on the task. It felt amazing, but best of all, you looked so happy.
And Zuko’s favorite thing in the whole world was seeing you happy.
WOOOW look at me posting! Haven’t posted since July…anyways, I’ve been obsessed with Zuko since I was younger and seeing him in the new movie omgggg just brought back everything. I had to write something for him so here’s a little mini fanfic.
