Gale's Offensive Spells
Hi sorry you'll be sick of me soon enough if not already. lol. Last post for today I pinky promise (do not believe her lies) I return with more reference materials. Below are some side-ons of cast animations for a few different offensive spells (I don't care how small the test area is, I cast Fireball etc). The subtle differences between them are neat; you really get a sense of the power he's putting behind each one. There is a certain laboriousness to Disintegrate, for instance, that's missing from Fireball, which he casts much more confidently. It makes to me sense both in terms of the kind of damage they do (force vs fire) and the level difference between them; the higher level spell seems to drag on him more. I also love that he receives push-back on Chain Lightning; he's not a completely immovable force, but he IS powerful enough to withstand. Suddenly those thighs make a whole lotta sense. 🥴 Anyways, I found this interesting. I don't write about his magical prowess much because it's just not really the crux of the stories I want to tell, but those of you creating more action-oriented works might enjoy the reference. HOT. WIZARD. SHIT. below. Proceed with care.
back on my bullshit —- why is it the reader that usually has the embarrassing misunderstanding? why not the character??
character misunderstands reader’s relationship status and starts acting kinda catty about it instead of cold and ghosting
character not realizing the reader was the royalty/popstar/ceo that they were badmouthing and getting that ice cold shock once they find out
character who is a hater of their classmate and finds out their sweet online friend is said classmate and starts getting acting nicer around classmate because if their online friend hated the real them they would crash out
can the other guy be a loser please and thank you
How it feels to say “girl fuck you” to a man
@lactaidsaveme made lovely art for us for chapter 27 of 200k+ word fanfic Addendum (an IDW1 Arcee Novel Fanfic) when Windblade is Cityspeaking with Arcee to help both of them get over losing Anode (& Lug), [not knowing the two adventurers were saved by Necrobot and brought forward in time!(albeit Lug of course did actually die and had to be resurrected by Anode and Velocity and Kaput during Transformers: Lost Light)] tysm! lactaidsaveme chose this particular moment of the Cityspeaking part of that chapter to do (which takes place after among other things Arcee's part in Megatron's trial... which she and Rodimus had planned to use to give Arcee a chance to speak on grievances of gender not just from the Decepticons, but the Autobots as well... which proved resoundingly effective and resulting in actual change. I won't spoil anything else heh).
Also yes this is a very windcee yuri chapter and like the tired and busy sapphics taganites they are they er do not realize feelings quite yet... we'll cover that more in chapter 40 (which is currently in the works) and have been building up to that across the chapters in between...
*checks notes (more like engraved into my memory forever by having worked on this book since 2021): so uh yeah uh if we're gonna fully use earth terminology for the sake of people who haven't read our writing and how we approach transformer assemblage and orientation when gender is in play rather than there just being a xeno parallel assemblage to it (other works we've written do this)... arcee in this is a butch (torque is a somewhat equivalent term)/trixic (altmodus and iterexper + taganite gender/orientation don't quite match 'enby lesbian' but we're just throwing this here as a way to show the loss in translation) transfem and roddy is a butch transfem who was in part inspired by her considering Roddy grew up in Nyon and, all she knew about her and her quests for justice and (gender) liberation read leading an antifunctionist resistance against Nova Prime in chapters 1 through 13 .... Chromia's a torque, Windblade's transfem (amusingly we were not the first writer to write Windblade this way by several years and we really admire the stories and writers that were among the first to tackle this), and Nautica's fluid though she/they doesn't quite have a handle on that yet (that will come up in chapter 35, following up on chekov's guns from chapters 27 and 30...)* yeah so uh if you want trans and sapphic reads of characters there's way more in this book just be prepared for the first 24 chapters to also involve the horrors of fighting eugenics and the equivalent of fascism, the phase ii chapters are 25 - 28, phase iii 29 - 33, and there's postcanon thereafter, the victory lap as history continues arc as it were starts in chapter 33. We note which canon comic issues are relevant to specific chapters, starting with Chapter 20.
You can find more on this book here and our essay about the unique trans rep canonical idw1 Arcee (especially her 2012 - 2018 writing) is in science fiction at large in terms of overlaps with real trans history here.

for those who can. i agree with this 100%. even if you just grow a couple of things for yourself. a tomato plant. a basil plant. start with something easy.
by doing this you are slightly lessening your dependency on corporate supply chains, learning an important human skill that has been largely lost in wealthy nations, and getting the pleasure and health benefits of eating ACTUAL fresh organic food.
if you have a little bit of space—even just a little bit of balcony space cuz you can grow these things in pots!—i really do suggest growing a few plants. they're not expensive. especially if you grow them from seed (although that's a bit trickier for beginners.) many plants aren't hard to grow (depending on what you're growing, the climate you live in, and the environment you have/make for your plants.)
but ya, grow some fucking food! and share with your family, friends, neighbours! and while you're at it, grow some flowers too. especially stuff pollinators like. plants are living works of art. i can't recommend them enough.
and generally speaking i don't see a whole lot of utility in This Character Is A Rapist because that's such an inflammatory statement. you can't really go anywhere from there if you're doing analysis in a public forum. and as i mentioned it is like that for a reason. in a series so eager to dole out extreme violence, sexual violence not standing out to the creative teams is not a surprise. at the same time, it's worth calling a duck a duck if for no other reason than to better engage with the underlying mechanics at play
