Orlando Pride defender Ali Riley is ready to speak out against anti-Asian discrimination, using her Instagram stories to oppose descriminati

Riley said the discrimination sparks both fear and fury, especially as it continues in her home state of California.

Those emotions motivated Riley to engage in challenging conversations about her own race and identity, even within her own family. Riley is of mixed heritage — her mother is a Los Angeles native of Chinese descent; her father is a white New Zealander.

Although advocating for her community has been difficult, Riley says it’s been an opportunity for growth.
