ok here's my scientific analysis of who would fuck daniel and who wouldnt

astarion: smash. almost 100% guaranteed to be for self-preservation reasons similar to canon, because you know this guy is vain and judgmental enough to go "ew, old :/" at him

morpheus: (steeples my fingers) pass initially, both from lack of interest, arrogance, and a sense of duty/"i should Not fuck this guy", but it's rue's muse so i have zero doubt that it will eventually turn into a smash.

dream 2.0: similar to morpheus except the initial "pass" isn't lack of attraction per se, it's a sense of duty/avoiding attachment/etc. unfortunately this dream (i'll allow him to be called daniel only because danielxdaniel is really funny) is susceptible to influence and more likely to go "ok yay!" if someone wants to smash.

graves: depends on how much daniel runs his mouth beforehand, because personality-wise it's a hard pass. graves has too much self-respect to let anyone with daniel's particular... issues... fuck him. and also he probably thinks daniel is morally bankrupt but don't ask me how/why. possible smash if graves is feeling especially self-destructive but otherwise: pass.

mykonos: i want to say pass so badly. it SHOULD be a pass. unfortunately it's a smash but in a very "mykonos has no self-respect + is vulnerable to predatory men + is also really attracted to old guys" kind of way (using 'predatory' in the 'daniel becoming a vampire makes him a bit of a sleaze' way here, to be clear. not PREDATOR predator).

cid: hard pass (not his type, he doesn't like sex, isn't usually into men as much, and he doesn't really like people who are visually much older than him... never mind that he's like 400 years old alright, hush) and also if daniel lays a single finger on mykonos he's ripping it off and eating it. HOWEVER... if things get sufficiently bloody enough, bloodlust tends to wake cid's dormant libido up + he occasionally makes terrible choices because of it (see: the first time he and corinth1 ever Actually Fucked). so the possibility exists. but um. pass. daniel he'll kill you get away from him.

raphael: pass. he is not fucking the dead white guy, thanks. he has some self-respect.

masque: pass, but mostly because a) he doesn't do one night stands/casual relationships (he learned that the hard way via lae'zel), and b) daniel would piss him off too much for them to develop anything else.

anatole: smash but only if they're fighting as much as fucking. it's no fun unless someone's being shredded to pieces.

atticus: pass. daniel is like his least favourite kind of white guy. fuck off.

cid(olfus): smash. i think he'd be charmed by the novelty of fucking someone significantly older than him (though cid is probably like... what, in his late 40s, early 50s?). and also i've yet to meet someone cid WOULDN'T fuck, except maybe hugo kupka.

vittorio: HARD SMASH. move over everyone he's about to get it. vic is a similarly young vampire (not "two days old" young like daniel, but about 40-ish years since he was turned, which is pretty young by vampire standards) and he would LOOOVE talking to daniel about his earlier journalism + activism. and then they'd smash.

That it's Amadeo's fucking fault Astarion was put in that tomb, that he was naive and stupid and he made Astarion naive and stupid, and if they'd never made those naive and stupid plans together then-- Then-- He's not sure what then, exactly. But maybe it all would have been different.

That he's sorry. For a lot of things. For not killing Amadeo when he had the chance (not that he could have, but Gods, he wished he'd at least tried) so that he'd never be turned. For not trying harder to help him somehow when there was still a chance to. For not indulging him more often; for making fun of him now and then; for rolling his eyes; for snarking and snapping when Amadeo was trying to be sweet to him sometimes; for not being half as good a friend as Amadeo deserved, because if he had been, he'd have stayed away.

That the man he sees in front of him now is not Amadeo. That he doesn't recognise him any more than he would recognise his own reflection if he saw it, now. That he allows their reconnection out of convenience and self-preservation first and foremost, and actively abhors much of the memories being around Armand stirs up in him.

the way he says 'mother', his hesitation betraying the obvious disgust lestat can nearly smell coming off of him; the way he can't even look at lestat, thumb and forefinger pinching the bridge of his nose and eyes closed like he's staving off a headache. lestat, pupils blown from substances headier than blood, laughs and swings his arms around christian's neck, leaning into him.

"the sordid details will remain our little secret, i promise you. you and louis can talk in private about how disgusting i am, while gabrielle and i--ah, but you said no details. bad lestat."

giggling, he pulls away. why either of them have stayed with him is beyond him, but they have - and so for all their protests, for all christian's despair and louis' revulsion, they must know that they're fussing over nothing. two adults sharing that which has always been theirs to share. what harm is done?

this post is about lestat and gabrielle. i haven’t read the books and never will. it's based on what we've seen in the show and only that. so um. look away now if you need to.

lestat, in-character, is going to depict his... unique... relationship with his mother as consensual. he is going to depict it as the expression of a wholly unique bond, a love like no other, taboo by mortal standards but perfectly ordinary by vampiric ones. he is going to tell you that the maker/fledgling bond transformed the relationship, that they aren't truly mother and son anymore, that they were 'reborn' together, that you Just Don't Understand, etc etc. he is going to come off as a weirdo who wants to fuck his mom. it is going to make you and everyone else in the room, including me, extremely uncomfortable.

now take my hand. no not that one, my other hand. thank you.

what lestat doesn't know is that incest is never consensual. no, not even between two adults, not unless it's one of those absurd "we met only as adults and had no actual familial bond before that" type situations. incest is always a product of abuse, and not just the direct abusive relationship between perpetrator and victim, either; incest between siblings, for example, often happens because the parents are abusive or the household is otherwise unsafe/unstable. poor boundaries, enmeshment, parentification, etc etc all contribute to both emotional and physical incest. the de lioncourt household fits the bill perfectly. gabrielle was powerless under her husband and older sons; lestat was powerless under all of them. there were no boundaries in that household except for the patriarch’s.

lestat does not realise that gabrielle was grooming him even as a child; frankly, neither does gabrielle. both of them see it as “we only had each other, it was us against the world, only they understood me”, a relationship that only became more intense after lestat turned her. it’s very common for a parent in gabrielle’s situation to turn to the child for support; to exalt them as a replacement for a partner or parent or whatever else. she very genuinely did not know better; many abusers don’t. they think that they’re doing something good, if anything, because obviously they’re close to the victim and they “take care of each other” and whatever the fuck else.

all of which is to say that i will not shy away from the fact that gabrielle groomed him, that she is as much of an abuser to him as magnus was (i write lestat’s turning as an explicit rape metaphor but it also is not a metaphor), or as lestat would later become to louis and claudia. that doesn’t mean i’m writing her as a monster or that i don’t account for her depth and experiences either.

and if you see my lestat saying shit like “well i wanted it, obviously :) it’s fine” then um. take it with a grain of salt. he is a victim of grooming and CSA.
