I just realised after writing this what the song means.
I interpretted it waaaaay too literally; like I've got a pocket full of sunshine - "a pocket" meaning your pants' pocket. As in "my jeans has pockets."
Then I realised a pocket can be a place, such as a small space of an area. So, she has an area she feels happy; a "pocket full of sunshine"
I did look up the meaning after this post and she means a space in her mind she can retreat to, to feel happy wherever she goes.
And here I was imagining a literal pocket filled with metaphorical sunshine so she could take happiness wherever she goes.
Funnily enough I came to the same conclusion but got there in a completely different way 😂

Just imagine Cassandra walking into the kitchen for whatever reason, with a report in her hand and when she looks up she sees Inquisitor Lavellan post-Solas breakup just smashing eggs with a hammer in a fit of rage and a wide eyed Cass just slowly backing out of the room
Picturing a time travel AU where Lavellan is in Ancient Arlathan with Solas and just experiencing the reality that young elven children speak Elvhen better than she can. And they laugh and correct her. Then imagine she spends time playing and laughing with them learning more words and phrases. Sometimes children are great teachers because they will tell you if you make a mistake because they do not understand social etiquette the way adults do.
In the Trespasser DLC, we see a rather large spell decimate unknown enemies in a rather extravagant fashion.

Now, this effect reminds me, and I’m sure a few others, of mind blast.
Mind Blast, across all games, has an area of effect with a five meter diameter, or about sixteen feet. This means that only enemies within a somewhat personal bubble of yours are thrown onto their asses.

… I have determined the distance between the tower and the Inquisitor to be roughly 2.8 miles, or 4.5 kilometers. The effects of the spell are still felt even at that distance.
In comparison to the five meter spell casting of the above-average mage, this would be 900 times more powerful
This ‘unknown assailant’ is 900 times more powerful than a mage Inquisitor, Champion, or Warden.
I'm keeping the times on here because I think it's funny how quickly he went from "we need to break up" back to "please, vhenan." Barely even made it ten seconds and he's right back to calling her his heart.
Which really reminds me of a conversation he has with Cassandra, when she asks him why he always refers to her by her title. And he responds that "I say what I believe to be true"
He can't not call her his heart, because she is. He just can't stop himself.
I have some questions I'm curious about from fellow Solavellan lovers all about your Lavellan, Solas and Rook. Answer all or one, up to you!
What does your Lavellan understand about Solas that makes forgiveness possible without excusing what he’s done?
Is there something your Lavellan fundamentally misunderstands about Solas, and that Solas fundamentally misunderstands about your Lavellan? What finally allows them to understand each other more clearly and how does that understanding come?
What is the dynamic between your Lavellan and your Rook?
If your Rook comes to know Solas primarily as an adversary, while your Lavellan’s experience is coloured by their love and history together, where do their interpretations of him overlap - and where do they differ?

1. Pre-Veilguard (so without all of the knowledge we get);
She understands what it is like to lose yourself to Duty, to be a Title and make hard choices like Solas does.
There are so many in Inquisition such as who to leave in the Fade, choosing which advisor that lead to Clan Lavellan being killed by Inquisition soldiers, who to forgive/execute/exhile/imprison etc. Even just being asked "We need your help, can you help us?" and she is capable of helping

Nature of spirits
Something had to happen to stop the Evanuris... not the way he did it but you can't go back and change it.
There is no excuse. But there can be healing, atonement and forgiveness. Also, a lot of really tough conversations to be had that could rock their relationship quite a bit. Maybe even end it - but without knowing every detail of how he thinks and works I can't answer it cause he is such a nuanced character.
2. Fundamentally misunderstandings;
For my Lavellan about Solas: It would be why he left and chose duty over her. It is an oversimplification but also true.
What gave my Lavellan more clarity would be that for Solas it was the fear that all he did and people he hurt would be for nothing. That he tried to make everything better by creating the veil and made everything worse for the elves. But also by trying to continually fix it by also doing terrible things so when his purpose was stripped away all that he was left with was regrets.
Solas about my Lavellan: Forgiveness and compassion is not a weakness or naivety. To give people multiple chances is not the same as allowing them to take advantage. If someone misuses their chances it says more about them than her. While Solas is not completely against those traits, it did make Aafje a less hardened leader as it was harder for her to turn off emotions and probably showed her cards too much, making her more vulnerable to manipulation. Ironically it's the same traits she shows him. He first misunderstands it as her not being well informed or wearing rose tinted glasses but she actually sees more than he realises and also provides him a new perspective. For example; the elves were weakened by what he did BUT he is not accountable for what the humans did next or how they continue to treat the elves.
Rook; Rook was tricked by Solas because I was tricked by Solas. My playthrough and opinion of Solas definitely clouded my Rook's approach and how I played her. However, she was also an elf and Dalish. While she agrees Solas was put in some really crappy situations she was put off by his long-winded justifications, especially how he was the only one to be able to do it. I don't think she would be able to forgive him for tricking her when he stole the dagger and used her as a pawn. She saw what he could become and hates it, "That is how low you are capable of going?" Whereas my Lavellan is more optimistic; "You can always go up from here." My Lavellan saw the best of what Solas was capable of and believes that is his true self, and my Rook saw the worst and thinks there is no difference.
Another WIP I have been chipping away at. It is truly amazing how much you can improve a piece simply by taking the time to look for proper references.
