grey skies had settled over england, looking pensively upon the sprawling lands as if constantly considering whether or not to unleash the rain which waited eagerly in the angry clouds overhead. and more often than not it seemed god favoured that idea. the streets in what seemed a perpetually muddy state, the flowers which had once bloomed in garden’s across the country were drowned and limp. and with the events of the spring festival, and the weariness they had inspired, still looming overhead, spring seemed a rather fitting season to mirror the english people’s own greying thoughts.
but no season could continue on indefinitely, and no fear could truly strip the english people or their queen of hope. and so, as the clouds overhead broke apart and unveiled a nearly forgotten golden sky whose warmth promised a coming summer, the queen announced the summer celebrations. whether the announcement was to serve the purpose of renewing england’s spirit, or merely to serve as a distraction from heavier thoughts, the people could only speculate, but their concerns as to the motivations for such an announcement were not enough to keep them away. and so, as the news travelled through the city, the streets buzzed with excitement. a series of tournaments, and celebrations which would commence with a masquerade ball within the palace.
~~~~~~~
this event will last for the next week and end on friday the eleventh at 12pm est. in game play the events will span four days, beginning on the evening of the masquerade. you are welcome to continue current threads, but all new starters should begin during the celebration. also keep in mind that due to the events of the last royal festival this time the castle will be heavily guarded, so if your characters are getting up to anything naughty they should be taking measures not to be seen!
