Just yesterday Fortune Cookie Soap updated their rewards system. Now there are more ways to earn rewards, other then just spending money and getting other people to spend money.
These are the new rewards you can earn:
The only rewards you can earn multiple times (other then the obvious spend a dollar earn a point) are the Birthday (once a year, obviously), Refer A Friend (help a girl out đ ), and the Review rewards. The otherâs are one-shots.
Also, these rewards are only going to be earned on future actions. You will not get 10 pts for every review you have made before this system was put into place. If your birthday just happened (before the new system) youâll have to wait till next year. And remember, you have to be logged in to earn your 1pt for $1 spent.
Thereâs that, but how about spending these lovely points? you may ask. Well:
FCS did refine the ways you can redeem your points as well. Thereâs no longer options like â500 points for $6.49 coverage of shippingâ. I like this better.
My one thought, quirk, itch about this system - same as it was for the last system - is that $1 = 1 point seems low to me, or at least with the lowest redeem option being 100 pts = $5 reward. Because if you donât have any social network connections, no friends who want to join in, and arenât one for leaving comments (I know, thatâs probably not that many people, but shh, Iâm trying to make a point), that means you have to spend $100 in order to get a little $5 reward. That just feels like a pretty big spending vs reward difference.
. . . Buuuuut, I do understand that they are, ultimately, a business and need to make money ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ

Fortune Cookie Soap recently re-vamped their collection of products based on Alice in Wonderland (the Tim Burton version Iâm guessing). This is the second time FCS has done this collection. This time around they kept some scents the same and added or tweaked others - anything with â2.0âł is one of the new, tweaked scents. I did not order the full collection, but you can see it on the FCS Pinterest Page.
Here are my first impressions!
Futterwacken - Perfume Oil
FCS Perfume Oils come with a rollerball applicator. This is one of the original scents from the first time this collection was release, unchanged. The scent description reads: âSun warmed lilies brightened with a splash of grapefruit and a breath of fresh air.â
First Impression Thoughts: I think I much prefer the 2.0 version. In the original Futterwacken the lilies are very prominent. Not a bad smell but, not my favorite. Iâm not a fan of strong florals.
Futterwacken 2.0 - Whipped Cream Sample
Sometimes FCS throws in a sample as a freebie. Which is how I got this. The scent description reads: âSun warmed lilies brightened with a splash of citrus amped up with some mango and papaya.â
First Impression Thoughts: I didnât get the body wash they were selling this in, but Iâm very glad I got a sample WC at least. I prefer the 2.0 to the original. The extra fruit notes lighten the very strong lily scent that was prominent in the original. Much more to my liking, a good mix of floral and sweet fruit.
Itâs Only a Dream 2.0 - Fortune Cookie Soap
Just look at it! The scent description reads: âFresh mango and coconut shavings blended to sweet perfection with calming verbena, lemongrass, calla lilyâ
First Impression Thoughts: First of all, itâs just beautiful! I first received this scent as a WC sample in a previous order. I fell in love with it at the first whiff, so I already knew I was going to love the actual product when it arrived. Yet another wonderful blend of floral and fruity. It is the mango and coconut that are the stronger notes in this product, which is fine with me, as I prefer fruity scents over floral, but they are not so strong as to completely overpower the flowers. A good mix.
Time - Foaming Sugar Scrub
This is a completely new scent, not one of the originals or a tweaked version. The scent description reads: âCrushed tangerines and salty sea air sprinkled with jasmine petals and orange blossoms, mingle with the woody earthiness of fresh sage.â
First Impression Thoughts: I think I was most excited for this one. Iâve seen a lot of good reviews for it already. I wish it had come in a larger size [than 2oz]. It has a lot of elements I like in it: jasmine, citrus, and sea. They all blend beautifully, I can pick out each scent, but none overpower the others. I hope they make this a stock/permanent scent. I know it smells good, so now I am itching to test out the nature of the product itself. This is my favorite scent out of the lot.
Who Are You? - Perfume Oil
This is one of the original scents, not changed. The scent description reads: âA mysterious mixture of crisp, ripe, pear twisted with tart limes, vanilla orchid, and dash of raw cane sugar.â
First Impression Thoughts: I canât pick out one individual smell. It does have a floral feel, but the other elements make it balance out very well. It is not overwhelmingly floral, but it is not a sweet fruity scent either. All I can really say about this is that I like it. I wish I had an opportunity to smell the 2.0 version, which throws coconut and bananas into the mix, but it was only available in hand sanitizer, which I am not a fan of.
Eat Me 2.0 - Bar Soap
Doesnât it look delicious?! FCS is so creative! The scent description reads: âScrumptious yellow cake with a fresh slathering of rich, creamy vanilla frosting, topped with fresh white pineapple slices, a sprinkle of lemon sugar and garnished with a sprig of blooming cilantro.â
First Impression Thoughts: I think I like the original scent over the 2.0 version. The original had a good balance of mellow sweet and tangy. For me, the addition of lemon throws off the balance. Now it is too tart, overpowering the sweet side a bit. Not completely terrible, but not my favorite.
Eat Me - Perfume Oil
The scent description reads: âScrumptious yellow cake with a fresh slathering of rich, creamy vanilla frosting, topped with fresh white pineapple slices and garnished with a sprig of blooming cilantro.â
First Impression Thoughts: I like this original over the 2.0 version. Just the right amount of sweet icing/cake scent mixed with tangy pineapple. I canât pick out the cilantro, but Iâm guessing it is what mellows out what couldâve possible been an extremely sweet scent.

Look! I think that may be a Suicide Squad or Deadpool (or both!) themed collection on the 29th!
CYOâs are events where you get to be the mix-master! They are usually for one specific product per event (this time itâs their Whipped Cream (body butter)). During the event you get Create Your Own scent by being able to choose 1-3 scents from their scent library and theyâll mix up the custom blend for you! You can also use this as an opportunity to try old scents that have since been discontinued or âretiredâ, by just selecting that one scent.
Take note, the collection and launch dates and times are subject to change. Sometimes where thereâs a large turn-out for one collection they bump the release date for the next so they have more time to finish the orders. Or to give you more time to save up for the next launch đ
First Impressions: Itâs pretty! Although the colors are not nearly as bright as the product photo, it is still a pretty tie-dye product.
Final Review: Not a fan. I was expecting to like it. I like earthy scents, so I thought I would love this, which is supposed to smell like âA warm blend of nag champa, sensual vanilla, and apple wood soaked in burgundy wine.â Sounds great, right?
Perhaps I donât like nag champa, or I donât know what itâs supposed to smell like. Everyone keeps saying it smells like an âincense storeâ. But all I smell is baby powder. Strong baby powder. Maybe thatâs what nag champa smells like, but I just donât like it.
I will leave this with 2 stars because of the look and itâs still the same great Whipped Cream formula Fortune Cookie Soap is almost known for; it absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft and satiny without any oily or slimy residue like other lotions.

Fortune Cookie Soap has announced the launch of their Sun in the Fun collection! This is their second time making this collection, perhaps with a few change-ups. This collection will launch / become available on their website Sunday, May 29th, at 12 noon (CST).

Remember, oftentimes the FCS website will be closed/down for a few hours before the launch as they add the new products to the site.
Product Review: Come As You Arenât Whipped Cream - CYO

First Impressions: This was from my first âCreate Your Ownâ event (CYO) - where FCS chooses a product, like whipped cream or perfume oil, and you get to mix scents or pick old ones and have them specially created for you.
I picked an old, retired scent, âCome As You Arenât,â the description for the scent said it smelled like âoranges & grapefruit, with strawberry and melon, sprinkled with the gentlest touch of sugar.â Originally sold as a Fortune Cookie [shaped] Soap, the description sounded good, so I thought Iâd give it a try:
Final Review: Iâm someone who loves fresh, fruity scents, and this fits that description perfectly. Itâs very fruity. You can smell the citrus and melon easily, with the strawberry (usually not a strong scent) wafting in the background. It reminds me of PJP.
I also love the formula of FCSâs whipped cream! With this body butter formula, a little goes a long way. It absorbs quickly and leaves your skin feeling soft, silky and satiny without any oily or slimy residue like other lotions. The scent lasts a decent amount of time too.
Minor details:
đš As far as I can tell, FCS does these CYO events roughly every 6 months, with different products.
First Impressions: Itâs big. I didnât get precise measurements before chopping it up, but it is a big bar soap. The description says itâs supposed to be 6oz. It is also perfectly black, not grey/pavement colored like the picture. Next to all of their brightly colored soaps, itâs kinda of weird to have a pure black one, but I can roll with that đÂ
Final Review: The description says that this soap contains âActivated Charcoal, Rhassoul, Neem, and French Green Clay, and lightly fragranced with Tea Tree essential oil.â I donât know what tea tree is supposed to smell like, but all I can smell is a heavy scent of charcoal/clay. It is very strong. But scent aside, Oh My GOD! This soap is amazing!!
I have normal to slightly oily skin that is prone to some acne. Iâve tried other face washes and they never seemed to do anything so I just stopped wasting my money. I gave this soap a try as a face wash and wow! Within a few days/week it was noticeable how well my skin reacts to this soap! I love it!
I use it by sudsing up the bar in my hands (be prepared for blackish/grey suds), and then use the suds to wash my face. It effectively cleans my face without leaving any residue or making my skin overly dry. Though if you already have dry skin it may leave you wanting for a bit of moisturizer.
As I mentioned above, I did (carefully) cut my bar into thirds, to make it easier to handle. I am currently still on the first third of it. Iâve been using it regularly for about 3 months now, and theirâs still plenty left. I actually talked my sister into trying it too, and ended up giving her one of the other 2 thirds I had left đ, and she has reported that itâs been working well for her too, and her skin is more oily then mine.
If FCS can fix the smell a bit, I would definitely appreciate it. But I am so happy with the results that either way is fine with me.
As of May 20th (ish), 2016, FCS announced that they are discontinuing their wax tart line for the time being.
I think that (::crossed fingers::) that means thereâs a chance theyâll start making/selling them again eventually, but I guess weâll just have to wait and see.
Product Review: Once a Beach, Always a Beach Wax Tart
âď¸ âď¸ âď¸ âď¸ - 4 stars
First Impressions:Â Poured into a little 2oz take-out sauce container. Pretty blue. Unmelted, smells a little salty.
Final Review:Â This is the best simulated beach scent I have yet to find. Itâs not overly salty/briny, and it doesnât smell like the same old âbeachâ scent that every other candle maker in the universe uses. The wax is a nice light blue that melts out deeper/darker blue.
The scent was very strong, almost eye watering-ly so, so Iâd say itâs almost too strong at first, but I would simply recommend not heating it for to long for the first few uses. Being strong isnât necessarily bad, after all, the stronger the scent the longer you can use/remelt the tart.
Bonus Neat Trick: To clean up, drop 2-3 cotton balls into the melted wax, the cotton balls will soak up most if not all the wax, making it easier to dispose in the trash - without having to pry it out of the dish (an impossibility with mine), or dump hot wax in the trash. Be careful though, the cotton will be warm/hot to the touch depending on how long the wax has been melting.

Thought Iâd share how I store my FCS products. Itâs not the fanciest way, but it works for me.
I use what was supposed to be a shelf/cupboard for the bathroom (we recently renovated ours and the cupboard didn't fit, sooo, i took it đ ), it sits on top of my dresser perfectly. I also use one of those decorative trunks to hold everything else I'm not using yet or doesn't fit in the cupboard (though I'm running out of room in it & may need another soon đ ). And you probably can't see it, but there's one of those clear plastic makeup/lipstick holders in the cupboard too, to keep the perfumes and such together đ .

I decided to go with Ooooooooh... Barracuda for the bars, and Lilâ Blue for the liquid. Iâm so excited to try them!

This one is âWhale Talkâ, which is supposed to smell like a âtropical mash-up of strawberries, black currant, jasmine, grapefruit, & fresh avocado.â

The scent is very fruity. You can catch whiffs of citrus, strawberries, and melon. Itâs a nice, strong scent once melted. The scent dispersed nicely; mine was placed at the bottom of a full staircase, and I could still smell it at the top of the steps. Itâs a very pleasant, fresh, fruity smell.
If you only melt it for 1 or 2 hours at a time, it can last a decent amount of time. However, I find that if you forget about it and leave it on the burner/melter for too long youâll burn off a lot of the scent & it wonât last for as many days.

First Impressions:Â Itâs their iconic fortune cookie soap! So very cute. Beautiful blue with glitters in it.
Final Review:Â Itâs a cute soap, but since it is hollow it doesnât last incredibly long - the hollow inside collects water & itâll degrade faster if it just sits like that, and eventually itâll just collapse in on itself. I used it in a loofah sock (similar to the FCS soap saver accessory - but made with that soft, scruntchy loofah material). It probably only lasted about a month, when I was using it regularly for showering.
Itâs difficult to describe the scent. To me it doesnât smell like rain (at least not the rain around where I live). But it is a lovely, subtle, clean, fresh scent - without smelling like floor cleaner or detergent. Itâs not floral or citrus or woody, just clean ¯\_(ă)_/ÂŻ .. It smells great when using but the scent does not linger on you skin very long afterword. That is, however, unless you jam your nose against your body and take a good, heavy, whiff - then you can smell it a bit.
Itâs neither drying or moisturizing, but it does leave you feeling clean with no residue that I could detect. The glitter does not wash/transfer onto you, it just makes the soap look pretty.
