So I'm finally starting to get the hang of tall shapes on the #potterywheel feeling pretty proud of myself. Tall is hard, but so worth it. Soon you'll see #foundobjectfloristry branded vases at your local #Florist

#pottery after firing. Feeling pretty chuffed about my first pots!
Started taking a #pottery class. My first complete coiled vase...hopefully it's dries and doesn't explode in the kiln!
It’s pretty common knowledge that we live in a world that is far from perfect. We see it everyday when we turn on the news and witness illnesses, catastrophes, angry politicians, and more bad news flooding the channels. While we can’t escape from reality, we do have the ability to make the world a little brighter with flowers and plants. After all, while we can’t control everything, we can control how we react. We already know that flowers can make smiles spread across the faces of people, but there might be another surprising reason to embrace flowers: the impact they have on your health.
Flowers can impact your health in a variety of ways that go beyond decorating or allergies. Recent studies are finding that flowers and plants can increase your overall happiness, relieve stress, and even reduce the amount of pain medications hospital patients require. There is also a lot of information surfacing about how plants and green spaces can affect a person’s ability to heal, concentrate, and remember information. That’s a lot of flower power for a bouquet or arrangement!
If that isn’t enough of a reason to keep growing your own flowers or gifting flowers to those in need, we also need to consider that many flowers and herbs can also be used medicinally. In fact, today’s modern medicine can be traced back to the natural herbal remedies used in the past. This knowledge has been handed down for generations, but can still be effective in treating and managing certain conditions today. Take for example how simple mint leaves can calm upset stomachs and ginger can be used to treat nausea.
These health findings are certainly valid points to consider when we share and give flowers to others. Besides adding a little brightness to a person’s day, we are also helping them get better and healthier in the process.
