i recently got back into the hetalia fandom bcs of all the cool historical things i saw ppl make and then created a bunch of oc's (the baltic tribes who formed the latvian identity + livonia) - got too attached to them, and then created a whole au in which the personifications of the tribes change themselves with the times and their people and thus manage to survive (if being compleatly diffrent people counts as surviving) to fuse - steven universe style - to form latvia :)

Third chapter of this is going to be interbellum when I get all my eggs in the basket of my head. It will. I can clearly see the vision in my head I'm just having trouble putting it into words.

Ēdrõm coming to see Raivis in 1923, after Tino and Eduard encouraged her to. Raivis, who thought the devestation of WW1 and then the Independence war had killed her, overjoyed she's alive!!! But then the reality of what Raivis is now crashes down on both of them :( sorry ēdrõm, your going to get recognised as the second indeginous people of the country only after 1991

fcfverse (aka my hetalia au world thing) worldbuilding thoughts :

The name "Nation" for these heta personifications is really contraversial in universe i think. Mostly bcs well. Its straight up not acurate.

Since "Nations" in my worldbuilding are basicly just spirit like personifications of comunity that only exist the way they do bcs people decided they did - then that leads to there being as many types of Nation as there are water droplets in the sea. Nations who are the personifications of Peoples, Nations who are personifications of States, Nations who are personifications of Both, Nations who share a State, Nations who share a People etc etc.

Which leads to the Nations themselves seeing other "types" of Nations as weird, and not "right".

My lil personal favorite headcanon about this all is Empires being Freaks. I think they feel Weird and Bad to the others. I think becoming an Empire should make one seem inherently Monsterous to the other personifications.

big fan of hetalia nations changing what they are through the ages - as peoples ideas of what they are change.

they go from comunity and safety to lines and logistics drawn on paper to ones and zeros stored in giant servers.

"my land" vs "*person*ification" depending on if you come from a comunal or individualistic culture.

nations being understood by humans only through their own cultural lense that feed back loops into the nations becoming more and more what thier people think of them.

all this to say that i think itd be cool that if you tore hetalia!estonia apart his insides would look like those computer gore pictures.

sometimes i think of like a region-tallia setting (where regions have nationlike personifications too) and imagine that the main Nation of the country is just the "main" region - making Raivis the Rīga (&Pierīga) region - where inside his country hes the queen bee - hes the cool cat. hes the It. and he makes all the other regions know this. ("Oh? You call this a city? its got 1/6th of the inhabitants of Rīga, so really this is more of a village than a city." "Oh? You're proud of having a university? I have 3. And really - is anything other than RSU, RTU and LU really a real university?")

and then outside - when he's representing the country to the international comunity - suddenly hes nothing. suddenly hes a small, insignificant speck who's survival depends on his ability to smile and sweettalk and bite the insides of his mouth until it bleeds because he just cant *shut up*.

this - of course - just makes all his infirority complexes worse :)
