i spent a while today compiling a list of albums to check out since i didn't really listen to 'new' music, or certainly not as much the last 3 years. anyway, it was very interesting seeing the stats and how so much more was released in the last 2 years, this year especially, compared to literally any other point in time. it also feels like while a lot came out, not a lot actually came out or was marketed if that makes sense. i dont think its particularly bad, just genuinely interesting to see and how tiktok is single handedly influencing music culture at the moment so certain older bands are getting revivals while genre notables or other similar bands and sounds continue to get less praise
