I’ve said it for years but I’ll say it again. People want Lando to be the 2019 version of himself. Timid with no self-confidence and imposter syndrome.

Y’all want him to be bashful and apprehensive of the other drivers, y’all want him to giggle so much that he cries in press conferences, y’all want him to look at George and Alex not as equals but as heroes.

Lando is not 19 anymore. He’s gained confidence through the years and he’s found himself in this sport and seems to finally look at himself not as someone who lucked into the sport but as someone who deserves to be there.

He’s paid his dues through the years. He’s had a shitbox, a mediocre car and now a car that is worthy of his talent. Is he perfect? No, nothing about him is perfect. He’s flawed both on and off track, but he’s resilient, talented, insanely hard working and he has never ever been complacent in the years he’s been in F1. He’s championship material (and enough former drivers have repeatedly said the same) and now he’s a championship contender at the age of 24, and nothing anyone will throw at him or scream into the void or send him online will change that.
