I’m Leo! 🌸 I’m a long time crafter/artist from Northern California, and love finding beauty in the small things in life. I’ve recently started focusing on loving the clothing I have, being mindful about prolonging the life of my favorite pieces, and passing on this mindset to my kiddo. That’s why I’ve gotten into mending, altering, and knitting 🪡🧵

In my spare time, I love being outdoors, hiking the plethora of trails in my area, hunting through thrift shops, and reading my infinite TBR pile ✌🏻

This shirt has clearly lived a very full life.

I’m taking my time with each section, trying to let the reconstruction feel as though it has always belonged here. It brings me such joy to let the history remain written in the stitches and threads, and now the sleeves are beginning their next chapter 🌿

The first stage of this reconstruction is finished. I wanted to rebuild the hem using a closely matched piece of reclaimed flannel, letting the original shirt continue telling its story. There’s still more work to do, but seeing the hem whole again feels like a lovely beginning 🌿🪡

Some of my favorite projects are the ones made as gifts. This patchwork tote was stitched together from entirely thrifted, reclaimed textiles, pieces that had already lived a life before becoming part of something new.

I hope it carries many more stories from here 🌿🪡

Every piece leaves the workshop with one last little stitch 🌿

This was the final touch on a patchwork tote headed off to its new home. It was made from reclaimed materials— scraps from shirts previously altered, and a branded tote bag with more life left to live. This is a small detail, but somehow it’s my favorite part.

This project gave me the chance to try a new hemming technique. Because I don’t have the machine required for the specialized stitching on this type of fabric, I spent some time learning how to recreate a clean, durable finish by hand, with the tools I do have. I truly love projects like this, they remind me that every garment has something new to teach.

Every patch began as part of another garment. I’m slowly layering reclaimed fabrics together, deciding which textures belong side by side before the first permanent stitches go in. One-of-a-kind, always 🍃

Today’s project 🍃

Every Fox + Fern piece will carry a little maker’s mark. I carved this stamp from a simple pink eraser, wanting the label to feel just as handmade as the clothing it marks🌿

A friend’s mother requested some care on a pair of pants, which led me to learning a new stitching method in order to give the fabric the respect it deserves 🍃

Some scraps are too good to throw away. This Trader Joe’s tote is getting new accents made from reclaimed flannel and a few pieces of denim from one of my favorite well-worn shirts. I like the idea that a little piece of that story gets to travel along into something new 🍂🌲🧵
